I was here during my visit to turkey in Nov 13. Nice place, friendly staff. Clean rooms. Staff were very helpful with suggestions on places to visit and tours. Breakfast was not very great. and they do not have a pool etc. But a value for for money place especially when you are on a budget.

I have stayed here last 2nd Dec till 5th Dec for holiday! T'was pre booked by my travel agent. Good point about this hotel?! Clean and nice room and they have balconies too! Staffs were helpful. The location is definitely a plus! It is near subways about 10 to 15 mins walking distance! The bad thing is the communication barrier....

This looks like it was once an old rooming house, with wooden floors, wooden doors, small, cramped rooms and old bathrooms. Small local-style breakfast served in basement each morning. Hallway lights are always off until you stamp your foot to make noise. Elevator is tiny, but functional. Difficult place to reach by taxi because of small one-way streets in the...

I stayed Tuğra Hotel one week in july 2014. I shared a double room- two females and a child 12 years old. The room had a good size for three people. The staff was trying to make everything comfortable for us, and to make the best out of it for us and likewise. If we were satisfied, they were satisfied!...

Nice staff and service, although there is a b problem with the English language(generally in Istanbul). The breakfast was satisfying, the area around was very quiet and the room was very clean. Generally speaking, it was exactly what I read in the Internet. No more, no less.. It is close to the metro and tram stations(10-15 minutes) by foot.

Staying in Fener & Balat

Neighborhood Profile
Fener & Balat
This sleepy and rather socially conservative area of Istanbul hosts a small but thriving Jewish community, the patriarchate of the Eastern Orthodox Church, and some of the most beautiful churches and Christian art in the world. Much of what’s most interesting to witness in Fener and Balat sits between the surviving ancient city walls of Constantinople and the serene shores of the Golden Horn. Despite the many splendid sights, historic attractions, stunning vistas, and warm Turkish welcome, the area remains largely unperturbed by the tourist trade that characterizes the atmosphere in nearby Sultanahmet and around the Grand Bazaar. Travelers that like to explore off the beaten track will reap big rewards for making the effort to visit this low-key part of town.
