To get them out of the way, here are 2 things that I would improve if I could :) 1) the rooftop terrace / restaurant was closed due to COVID and I don’t believe there was a note about that on their website 2) bathroom had glass walls and if you travel as a couple it might get a bit awkward at night, when inside of the bathroom is easily seen from the outside, despite the blinds Other than the above everything was really good! - location is right by Galata tower, on a quiet street with parking nearby available (though I would absolutely not recommend having a car in Galata - too steep, too narrow streets, lots of one-ways). For my future visits I will be always staying in Galata area, forget about Sultanahmet - boutique hotel with very few neighbours - good view of Bosphorus (especially on sunrise) from their Sea view deluxe room + spacious balcony!! with couch and table with chairs Though lower floor rooms while lacking the sea view have higher ceilings, which was also cool! - but most importantly what makes the stay perfect is their general manager Fulya - very intelligent, beautiful and nice lady that would answer any request of yours, arrange what’s needed, recommend restaurants to your preferences, tell you about Istanbul gems, which you wouldn’t find otherwise I think they should consider renaming this hotel to Gorgeous Fulya hotel :)…
The location of this hotel is great…it’s within walking distance of the Galata Tower, and tons of cafes, bars, and restaurants. We chose a room with a large balcony with a view of the Bosphorous, which was great! We spent a lot of our time on the balcony enjoying the view. The staff was warm, welcoming, and friendly, without exception. They were always helpful and offered great dinner recommendations. Our favorite staff member, of course, was Lollipop, the resident cat. Our room was well-appointed, with a large bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Unfortunately, due to COVID, the hotel restaurant was closed while we were there, so we don’t have any experience with the food and drinks. However, we very much enjoyed our stay, and highly recommend Georges!
We stayed here on a recent trip to Istanbul. Very good location for this side of the river. Very helpful staff and very clean hotel. The rooms are quiet small but as expected for a city hotel. However we do feel the room could have been designed better. Nowhere really for clothes with a hanging rail above the tea and coffee and no real draw space. Also we felt that the shower needed a door rather than being a wet room as the water went everywhere and was located more towards the front of the bathroom. Would still however recommend if you travel light and don’t mind a very wet bathroom.
It was during short layover in Istanbul, on my way to see family, that I found this gem just steps away from Galata Tower. I needed a peaceful quiet place, protected from worries of the world still battling corona virus pandemic. From the moment I stepped into the Georges’ cavernous dimly lit lobby filled with ancient artifacts and history books, I felt I hit the jackpot. That feeling only grew stronger after interacting with its’ gracious owner and very attentive staff, after noticing the extreme love and care put into this place, not that you have to look very hard... And then there was my last night in Istanbul, in room 15, with the door wide open onto the balcony and the expanse of Istanbul nighttime skyline and Bosphorus moonlight glitter. I heard distant sounds of the hustle and bustle of this beautiful eternal city. I saw glimmering lights of Anadolu Yakasi. I felt hope that we all would be ok.…
