It is a new private family hotel, not so big and very comfortable! We were there with a family, 3 adults, during 5 nights. We lived in the room №1, but also saw the other rooms, good and fresh repair, which the owners have done by themselves with love, in every room a different design. Our room was clean, spacious, light, with everything we need! Although, it was on the ground floor it was very quiet always, the hotel is located on a quiet street, and at the same time in the heart of the city!
In the room: Kitchenette, all cooking implement, gas cooker, kettle, refrigerator, kitchen table with chairs, LCD TV with satellite television , air conditioning, and also wardrobe, comfy beds. Large bathroom with shower cubicle, hair dryer, slippers. Iron and scales - on demand. Just ask - and you will get it! Cleaning service was every day except Sunday. On the top floor there is a terrace with stunning views of the Marmara Sea, also the barbecue was on the terrace where we roasted a delicious shish kebab!
The hotel is located in the center, not far from the Blue Mosque (5-7 min walk), near the tram stop Çemberlitaş‎, which is very convenient!

But the most important and best of all, because of it we had unforgettable holiday - the owners of the hotel A'la House, a wonderful and hospitable family! Respectable and decent, helpful people, who always takes care of all their guests! And we also felt that we are part of this family too! With a choice of this hotel, we found new friends! Thank you, Eda, Kutay, and great thanks to your father and mother!

You can find a supermarket DIA not far from the hotel, if you walk down from the hotel to a T-crossroads, turn right and go straight 200-250 meters, the supermarket with a red style on the left side. There are different shops with fresh meat, fruit and teahouse without tourists! And if you go further, to the port and railway station Kumkapı,it will be the area with many fish restaurants!

What is the best thing about A'la House? Location. Why do you travel? To experience new things and places. A'la House is close to the historical sites - about a 10 minute walk to sites like the Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, or Hagia Sophia - but just as important, it is only a 2 minute walk downhill to a Turkish neighborhood where you see only the occasional tourist.

A quick left out the front door and a short two blocks down the hill and you enter the real Istanbul where Turks go about their daily lives. If you turn left at the bottom of the hill, you have the chance to eat chicken or lamb kabobs cooked by a wonderful character. Across the street there is Adem Oğlu who runs a small pastry shop with some great Turkish coffee or tea and excellent baclava. The thing that made all this fun was that, with one exception, I was the only person in the place that didn't speak Turkish.

The owners (mom, dad, daughter, and son) were charming and had the warmth I experienced with all the Turks I met. The facilities at A'la House are clean and well maintained. The rooms are bright and airy. As noted by one of the other reviewers, the water pressure in the shower is great. I was there in October and it was drizzly and cool to cold outside. A hot shower was the perfect cure.

I do have two caveats but they should not be taken as complaints. First, have some good walking shoes. Everywhere in Istanbul, not just the area around A'la House, seems to be uphill or downhill. You will get some good exercise. Enjoy it. It lets you eat more of the great Turkish food. Second, the walls between rooms are thin by wester standards. During the day, the street noise is noticeable ... but what are doing in a hotel room during the day? At night, it is not a problem. This is a fairly traditional neighborhood that goes to sleep early ... of course the muezzin gets up early. :) Neither of these two things would stop me from going back again.

We spent a great week in this hotel! Istanbul is a very huge city extended to Asian and European part, thus this central located Hotel is a perfect place for tourist. It is very easy to reach all famous sightseeings: Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Erebatan Sarnichi and Topkapi Palace are in the pedestrian accessibility!)))
Another nice complement to this hotel is its terrace, where we had a breakfasts))
Each appartment is equiped with kitchenette, cuttlery and all what you might need for breakfast is there. Small shops can be found right on the corner!

It only can disturb you sleep, because of muezzin, calling to pray early in the morning. But in Istanbul it is hard to find place where you will not hear.
As for us, we had no problems with it: it is not that long, and some days were not load at all.

Hotel is a Great Value for this money!

We booked the triple apartment in a separate building for our two week stay, and let the owners arrange transportation from the airport - location may be difficult to find by car. Simple apartment on two levels (above street level, so expect stairs). Convenient to Cemberlitaş tram stop (up a steep hill), and to most of the Old City sites. A couple of small grocers very close, and other amenities (like liquor stores, restaurants, barbers, etc.) less than a block away. Expect nearby hills, some quite steep, but there are less hilly alternate routes. Neighborhood is full of kids and feels very safe - we had a great time just exploring in all directions. Daily towels, trash and linen service. The private terrace overlooking the Sea of Marmara was a great place to chill!

Not trivial to find a quiet place ti sleep in Sultanahmet. If a good night sleep downtown in a 3 star level hotel is what you are looking for, look no further. Rooms are (very) sunny, spacious and well equipped (Kitchen, Air conditioning, TV, Wifi, comfy Mattresses, electrical sockets, breakfast table, etc). Excellent Price/quality ratio too. very close to everything. Staff (in fact, these are the owners, the Berk family) are very very helpful and welcoming - you feel instantly at home.
Located close to the less touristy Sultanahmet neighborhood, so you get to touch the casual life of real Turks.
Highly recommended for families as this is an Aparthotel.
One draw back: the way to the nearest public transportation (tram T1) is 300m up a hill - a bit of a hindrance for old people. Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars.

We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of our trip and the accommodations were excellent for the money. I liked it so much, I canceled another hotel I had previously booked for our last night in Istanbul. While there was a bit of confusion, the staff (I forgot his name) promptly and satisfactorily fixed any misunderstanding.

One thing I recommend is that if you're not using their driver to pick you up, to have a clear map showing where the property is located as it is not easy to find.

I advice this hotel for families and independent travellers. Those who want to get comfortable and cosy accomodation in the center of the city. Everything is wonderful here. The location. The Personal. The rooms. The athmosfer. The opportunities you get staying here.
We spend only a week here(we have taken the big room with the kitchen) and we really enjoyed our stay. The personal was trying to satisfy every our desire. Thank you!
It couldn't have been better.
I think this is the best option for the price you have!
Choose A'la House and you won't regret)

We stayed in room 5 had a double bed and a single bed.
The cooking facilities are very basic but it is so cheap to eat out we did not mind. It was lovely having a fridge and we appreciated a hot drink when we wanted it.
We got a taxi from the airport and the driver had great difficulty locating the property! Might be worth printing off a map!
It is situated halfway up a fairly steep hill with steps at the top so if you find it hard to walk maybe not the best place for you
There is a spiral staircase up to the roof gardens and upper rooms. We enjoyed sitting out every night looking over the river.
You are veryclose to at least two mosques that blast the call to prayer very loudly!
We found the family very helpful helping us to book taxis and storing our luggage on the last day
Location is greT for being able to walk to all the main tourist sites and also to come back for an afternoon snooze
Bathroom was modern with toiletries provided as well as disposable slippers which was a nice touch. Free wifi was good and fast. We also had a safe in our room too.
Don't go expecting luxury this is basic accommodation and that is reflected in the price. We were comfortable, we felt safe and would recommend a la house to you!

This hotel is great in all aspects. Rooms are good for the price range, beds are comfortable. The terrace on the roof gives a spectacular view of the city.

The location is excellent. Many major sights are nearby. A tram station is also close and will get you anywhere you wish. (Public transport is cheap. We would recommend taking the ferries whenever you can.) Around the hotel there are many shops and restaurants.

Communication with the owner is a bit hindered by his limited knowledge of English, but he is a very nice man and once he gets what you are asking he will do everything he can to help you.

Beds are made and towels are changed every day. Rooms are very clean and airconditioned. The kitchen is well equipped.

All in all we had a great time in the hotel. Recommended for everyone.

A'la house is definitely the best option in Istanbul. The location is great, close to all the touristic attractions in Sultanahmet and with easy access to public tramway to go to any other place in the city. A lot of convenience stores and mini-markets around the hotel. The staff is helpful and welcoming, always available for anything you could need. The room was also good and no surprises, we found all what they mentioned about it.
Something to take into account is that the hotel is in a slope.

We did not have a big pot or microwave in our room. There were plates cutlery and glasses. We had intended to self cater and we did cook breakfast several days but it was so cheap to eat out we decided to do that. There is a supermarket up the hill and more down the hill. A fantastic patisserie and greengrocers down the hill. We enjoyed breakfast on the roof terrace but the stairs are windy! There is a little kitchen area up there. We found the owner very helpful, he booked our taxi to the airport and had lots of helpful suggestions.
