With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

Nice little hotel , close to main historic attractions.. It’s quite hilly to walk around but it’s Istanbul .Hotel is very basic not glamour at all but clean and comfortable for the right price.Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is various but same every day . lI suggest to avoid grand floor room as it’s quite noisy from the cars to drive up to the hill. Thank you Omar for room upgrade and your Istanbul tips.

I have a wonderful stay in Istanbul at Basileus and Omer, the hotel reception has been very helpful and great guide to tell us where to eat, where to go in Turkey( we booked our tour cappadocia , ephesus & pamukkale tour via him ). We came back to see him after our tour and he gave us great advice on what and where to eat and I sat down with him to understand more on Turkish food :) Thank you Omer for making our stay memorable.

We stayed at the Basileus Hotel for a week on our first trip to Istanbul. Location was very important to us, and this was a perfect place to stay at, within easy walking distance to the main attractions like the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, the Topkapi Palace and the Hagia Sophia museum. Public transit is also close by. The hotel itself was so welcoming. The staff, especially the front desk, was really nice, eager to help and full of good advice. The rooms are nice and comfortable, and extremely clean. They offered a good turkish style breakfast every day. They also have very reasonably priced laundry service. The neighbourhood is gteat, lots of small good restaurants and a great little Rasta Bar, just steps away. Cant recommend this place enough!!
