This hotel is one of those gems that regular travellers find infrequently but which is so precious: a hotel which does exactly what is needed - and no more - at a great price but also perfectly furnished, clean and friendly. We were out looking for a hotel/hostel and we really had luck to find this one. It is 2 minutes by foot from Taksim square statue. The location is the best for first time exploration of Istanbul. Metro, funicular line and bus stations are really close and from Taksim square you are really well connected to other parts of Istanbul.... More

Otel Avrupa is a budget hotel within a pedestrianized hotel zone across the road from Taksim Square. It is surrounded by more upmarket hotels and has easy access to the square and Havas airport bus. This was the best hotel we could possibly find in Istanbul for our budget. It is 2 minutes walk from Taksim square, in a very lively area, surprisingly very quiet day and night. We had to leave another place (Buenavista Guesthouse) in the evening because of terrible experiences. So we didn't have much time to search and Hotel Avrupa was the cheapest we found in the Taksim area (50 Euros the double, shower inside, toilet outside). For Istanbul the price is OK for what we got.
