First time we were in Istanbul and the AST Hotel is a “must be”. Located in Sultanahmet nearby the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and other iconic sightseeings, it makes possible for you to enjoy this amazing places immediately after coming out of the hotel. Very welcoming and friendly stuff – they made all possible for your comfort and satisfaction 24... More

Staying here for one night on a flying visit to Istanbul was fine. Great location a short walk to the Blue Mosque and other attractions. The hotel staf were friendly and helpful and breakfast on the roof terrace was very good. Can only rate as average because of the tatty rooms; wires hanging from walls, funny smell in our daughter's... More

Hard to find hotel is located pretty close to Sultanahmet and major sightseeing of Istanbul. Small street down the hill is full of similar style small hotels and AST group us just of of them. The best of the hotel is its staff and a nice terrace upstairs. As elevator hardly ever works you have to climb the stairs. However... More

Location was just fine, very close to every point of interest in the Old city part, 5 minutes away from Blue mosque and Aya Sofia. Stuff was very nice and polite. Breakfast was fine as well. The hotel was in the middle of renovation works - they were changing our door one day, the next day they were doing something... More

Small basic hotel in the Sultanahmet area, location is good, the place however is not quite what it shows on booking.com. Room is small but ok, except for the window that cannot be closed fully and seems not very well sealed, therefore can be noisy. Rooftop bar is rather just a rooftop terrase where they serve (basic) breakfast, no cover... More

Please note, that I have a very serious complaint about my reservation. I arrived late at night, called the number of the hotel, they said they would send someone to pick me up from the airport; after waiting for more than an hour I took a public shuttle, who spent over an hour looking for the hotel. The hotel and... More

I understand how people might not have had positive experiences in this hotel, but I honestly believe you get what you pay for. This is a very cheap hotel right in the centre of Istanbul. It's not a fancy hotel but it's not trying to be either. Our room was on the top floor, which was a bit exhausting to... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
