The good points: Very centrally located (quite close to Istiklal av.), safe, reasonably clean and very, very cheap. The bad side: Extremely noisy area (don't expect a nice sleep), spartan accomodations, and don't bother for the breakfast...Stay here only if you really need to save some cash...

We are the transit passengers from Athens,so we were lookig for a cheap hotel with breakfast. I was treated warmly by the staff, especially young boys staff, they are very very kind for us. for example, they bought us a bottle of water, brought me a cup of coffee at the breakfast and so on. and the owner said to us 'even after checkout...

It is really lovely hotel but the people who likes luxury and 5star service skip this hotel. It was our 5. visit to istanbul, we always choose budget friendly hotels and save our money for city trips and nightlife. Al Salaam hotel is very center location in Taksim Square and safe to come back after midnight especially for women. its...

We stayed here with a group of seven. The reception man was not pleased to see us nor was he welcoming and the reservation was all messed up. Regardless, we got checked in eventually and made our way up the rooms which were decent except for the bathrooms which were awful - the toilet was a third under the sink...

This is a small hotel only a short stagger from the tourist bars and restaurants of Taksim. Small but warm rooms, a great breakfast (albeit with an unpredictable start time, it is nominally 730am start, but may be later depending on when the bread arrives form the local baker!) and friendly staff. The hotel is a bit faded, and there...

The hotel is just a few hundreds meters away to Istiklal Cad and Taksim Square. This is the only good thing about it. The rooms are noisy. The beds and the cushions are very dirty. Another extra attention must be paid to the hotel manager. The hotel manager is very impolite and rude. You don't feel yourself secure.

This hotel was fine. If you plan to have a crazy night out in Taksim, it would be great. Located 1 block from the main street, it was safe and easy to come back here late at night. If, alternatively, you want to wake up early, don't stay here. The hotel was clean and the rooms were good for what...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
