On the way into town from the airport, I wondered why anyone would want to pay premium rates to stay at the Hyatt, which looked as though it were in a building site. A twenty-five minute drive later, we arrived at the modest, understated Anadolu Hotel. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was authentic and plentiful.... More

My wife and I have just returned after spending a week (last week of September) at the Anadolu. We initially reserved for three nights but extended it to seven. We had a room on the top floor which offered a terrace with a nice view. Hagia Sophia would've been a nice part of the view...but a large tree negated that.... More

My wife and I spent 5 nights at the Anadolu Hotel and couldn't be happier we chose to stay there. The staff were awesome and always so helpful. The breakfast was meager but still good and the Wi-Fi was spotty but we experienced that everywhere we stayed in Turkey. The hotel is super close to public transportation and tourist sights... More

This was my favourite accommodation during seven weeks of travel. We didn't really know just how good the location was till we arrived - it couldn't have been better. Close to the major attractions and the friendly and helpful staff arranged transport to the other places we wanted to visit. Our rooms were basic and functional , comfortable and spotlessly... More

I had a single room no view, but the place was clean and airy. Also a lot of good light in the morning and the room was wider. They had a good selection for breakfast. The breakfast terrace was beautiful with a view of Hagia Sofia and other places. Also the location of the hotel is great in that it... More

This hotel is located in Sultanahmet the heart of Istanbul city. Its walking distance to the tourist attractions Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazar and Egyptian Bazar. The room a bit small but clean and airconditioned. The hotel staf Ismail is very friendly and helpful.

This was a great place to stay and so close to all major sights. The restaurants nearby were excellent and we did not have one poor meal. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room on the 3rd floor with amazing views of Istanbul and the Bosphorous. Definitely recommend.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
