Found this on Airbnb while searching through a lot of hotel reviews online. This hotel met the criteria for the most important things on my list. We are a family of three and it could accommodate all of us in one room. I needed reliable air conditioning, a good price, a good breakfast, non smoking, close to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkai Palace, WIFI, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast had a good selection of eggs, meat, cheese, veggies, biscuits/cookies, juices, cereals, and olives. It was buffet style so we could pick what we wanted and how much we wanted. I was also looking for a quiet hotel. It was generally quiet, but if someone flushed a toilet you could hear the water running through the pipes. All the rooms are near the stairs so when people talked or laughed in the hallway you could hear it. I wanted reliable internet and this place has internet but it kept logging me out so I had to log back in every 7 minutes. There are a lot of maintenance issues here like a moldy smelling bathroom, drawers and doors that fall apart when you open them, small holes in the bathroom walls, a concave mattress, and it could have been cleaner. The hotel staff was super nice, they helped out anytime I needed anything. They provided a large bottle of water when we arrived at midnight and some local treats when we left! There is a great restaurant across the street called Dubb. It was delicious! The neighborhood is quaint with shops and restaurants and we felt safe while at the hotel and in the neighborhood. It is about a 5-10 minute walk to Sultanahmet Square, depending on how fast you walk. It is very close to Arasta Bazaar. It is up hill if you have issues walking. Some of the photos online looked like there is a great view of the Blue Mosque. There is a partial view, the hotel in front has built up a terrace area which obscures the view. There is also a partial view of the ocean. Be sure to keep your windows closed at night or the prayer call may wake you up at 4:30 am! Overall, it met my most important criteria so I would stay here again. There are improvements needed, but it is a good value.

Ocean’s 7 hotel is located in the most touristic location of Istanbul. It is about 400 mtrs from Blue Mosque to Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sofia. The Grand Bazaar, Spice Market, Bosphorus Area, cruise line etc are all within walking distance. Lot of restaurants around the hotel and are open till midnight also a safe area. The staffs here are very courteous and polite especially Mr. Azamat, the Hotel Manager who is always at the hotel. Rooms are small in size and very basic, but comfortable beds and a little shower area. Wifi was free and good speed. Very limited rooms on each floor. The only flipside is lack of lift facility. Also options for breakfast were limited. But the lady at the restaurant was always helpful. Great place to stay. Overall a clean hotel and polite hotel staff in the heart of city and would definitely go back there.

This a budget option and although some maintenance issues the staff went out of their way to help us for any issues we had or help with getting the right transport and getting to good sites. It had a good community feel to it!

This hotel is in a GREAT location for visiting the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and access to the street tram, which means you can get anywhere in minutes. It is easily the best area of Istanbul to be for seeing the sights and enjoying the city. The price is great as well. The hotel staff is very nice and went out of their way to help us and make sure we had what we needed. However... We booked this hotel on airbnb so we did not know the name ahead of time to check reviews. I wish we had been able to get more info ahead of time. We may have still chosen this property just because of the location but a little more info would have been nice. The hotel itself is clean. The building is very run down. I believe they are working to fix things but there is a lot that needs to be addressed. The AC works beautifully! The hotel does have wifi but it didn't always work. We found ourselves having to reconnect frequently. We were here in the afternoon one day and it was completely off so I wondered if they turned it off during the day. The hotel says it has free parking but I don't know where you would park a car. The streets are VERY narrow and there are already a lot of vehicles. The morning breakfast was good. The rooftop terrace needs a lot of work but the food was okay. The shower head in our room was broken. The water sprayed but the hose connecting to the head was broken so water sprayed everywhere, mainly in my eyes. It worked well for rinsing but not for standing under the water. The window in our room was broken. The window was literally out of the frame. At first I thought it just didn't lock but then I realized the brackets that hold the window in place were broken on one side. In the summer or winter that could be a temperature problem. All year it is a security issue, although I never felt unsafe here and the broken window faces a courtyard and not the main street. The beds are REALLY uncomfortable! Seriously. We actually ended up in 2 rooms as we stayed for a few nights, left, then came back and stayed a few more nights. The first room had a king sized bed. It was actually just two twin beds pushed together with king sized bedding. The mattresses were so hard that it was more comfortable to sleep in the crack. The second room had a queen bed that was just one mattress. It was rock hard! If you like VERY firm mattresses, you'll love these beds. If you like some cushioning, you'll hate them. The hotel is not quiet. We did not hear anyone through the walls but we could hear everything that was happening in the stairwell. Overall, we give the hotel about 2.5 stars. It's good because of the location and price but there are probably better options. A few other notes: There is a laundry next door. They will wash and iron your clothes and have them for you the next day. There are tons of restaurants! We highly recommend Turgut. Very delicious! The street tram (train/subway) is close by and there are plenty of taxis. The area is safe.
