Hostel is quite nice, clean, and with a good design but i give just 2 stars for that reasons: - they ask me 3 dollars more for city tax but on my ctrip there was nothing write about that and online other hotel write only 1 dollar ( so at the end the dorm cost 9 dollar and not 6 ) and they ask in unpolite way like was normal, i didnt like that - check out is on 12 but the lady ask me to get up from my bed in rude way on 11 and say you need to check out now, if is like that why you write 12? - breakfast only start from 8, if you plan to grab early train forgot about it, only fruit and tea, some small not really fresh bread available, pankake, crepes or marmelade will be good of us. - taxi is overpriced, hostel is very close to airport, with 2-3 dollars and yandex you can go everywhere Not so many restaurants around the area, from same price i suggest something more close to city center.

Extremely helpful, friendly staff with excellent English. Very comfortable bed with curtain (female dorm). Nice kitchen and common areas, perfect to connect with other travellers. Clean bathroom and showers, overall very pleasant atmosphere. I've been to many hostels throughout Central Asia and this is definitely the best one so far.

stayed 2 nights at topchan upon reaching Tashkent, main reason is that it is walking distance from the airport (i arrived 6am), about 20 mins. 1st impression - good backpacker feel. room is very basic, but clean. bed is so so, not the greatest for sure. shared toilets are clean. breakfast is okay. walking distance to the main train station to buy all the train tickets needed for the trip, but it is not the train station for trains to Samarkand, and others (south station).

Room: I stayed in a single room. It was cosy and clean, with cool artwork on the walls similar to what can be found in the rest of the place. The shared bathrooms were in the ground floor, all clean and working perfectly well. Location: It’s pretty close to the airport (I was able to walk, albeit sweatily, straight to the hostel). It’s a 15 minute walk to Tashkent station, from where you can get the metro or train to the rest of the country. There are a couple of local shops nearby selling drinks and stuff, which is useful. Breakfast: Egg, cheese and bread are provided in a very solid breakfast offering, much better than what I usually experience in the region. The kitchen area is good and potentially a fertile area to meet other travellers. Service: Before arriving, the hosts send an email with lots of information about how to get there, etc. I liked that. Once there, they are helpful with orientation and changing money. There is an ATM on site which intermittently works, but is useful when it does function (if it doesn’t work, head for the Hyatt). I didn’t get a sense that they offered much in the way of tours or day trips. It would have been nice to have seen more of this publicised. Overall, a great place to stay. Recommended.
