It was my second time at the hotel and compared to my first experience about 9 years ago, the stay was much more pleasurable.
The hotel is as beautiful as its images, or more so, unless your eyes are easily strained by the abundance of gold :) The rooms are large and airy (try to get an odd-numbered room, then it won't be facing this large ensemble of heating aggregates outside that make permanent humming noise. Not loud but noticeable).
The restaurant is actually surprisingly nice and has an abundant menu, and my Carbonara one evening was so good that I didn't hesitate to order it again (although the manty that waited for 45 minutes were sadly underwhelming).
A special word goes to the staff of the hotel that goes above and beyond to make the guests feel really cared for. Their flexibility, friendliness, availability and a word of advice were greatly appreciated.

A stunning hotel with great views over the city of Ashgabat. The lobby is impressive, staff are helpful. The room was a really good size with nice bathroom. The bed wasn't very comfortable but overall it was a good stay. Food in the upstairs restaurant was surprisingly good. The carpet shop in the lobby is great to pick up a carpet - good prices. Shame the outdoor pool was closed already despite it being around 30 degrees and sunny

I have been in Yyldyz Hoteli for about one week, rooms are big, clean and comfortable, the personell is friendly and very much helpful (especially thanks to Viktoria) but the last 3 days of my stay in Ashgabat there was no Internet. The hotel organised a temporary Internet only the last evening. It is unacceptable that in such a beautiful hotel with excellent service you cannot provide Internet of any kind for more than 2 days and only on the third day you start thinking about solving the problem.

Hotel is out of the town, so no walking around. Huge rooms. Aircon is extremely cold. Very limited breakfast and very strangely arranged - porridge, plates and spoons are located in 3 different places. Disastrous mattress. Impossible to turn off lights without walking after each lamp.

Incredible building which is very similar to the Burj Al Arab sail shaped hotel on the beach in Dubai. It is spotless and no expense has been spared. Rooms are huge and the views are breath taking. Great outdoor swimming pool.
Most 5 star hotels struggle to generate any atmosphere and they are mostly quite sterile. This hotel is the same but has two further disadvantages, the hotel is largely empty and the staff (the real potential in any hotel) are largely disinterested in the few guests that are in the hotel. I walked into the restaurant for breakfast and I was the ONLY guest there. I counted 7 staff and not one said good morning to me. I felt unwelcome.

Such a very nice hotel. Excellent location, view from the window, beautiful unique architecture, large room, very nice bar on the 19th floor and restaurant on the 18th floor. Very good breakfast, better than most hotels in Westen capitals that I have been to. Hotel staff are also gentle and helpful.
Nice gift shop in the lobby with fair prices.
I stayed there for 4 nights. It was an enjoyable stay.
Very recommended.

Our group took a tour of this futuristic hotel high on a hill in Ashgabat on October 22, 2014. This is the only hotel in Turkmenistan where you are treated royally instantly. From the greeting you receive upon entering the hotel to the highly professional skilled workers. The Yyldyz should go on a mission to train all workers in Turkmenistan coming into contact with tourists how it is done. This hotel is magnificent and first class in every way. The rooms and suites are nothing short of fabulous. The amenities in each room are fit for a king or queen. The restaurants and bar are tops. In the event we return to Ashgabat, we will only stay in this truly 5+ Star property. The friendly folks attitude at this property show their guests that they love their job and want you to enjoy this property.

Arrived at 5am only to be told that - despite a confirmed booking - the hotel had no rooms avalable. No apologies, no compensation, no assistance in finding alternative lodging. Very unprofessional management.

I am pretty sure that the hotel will do it for you. But this might depend on nationality and the duration of your stay in the country so you may check directly with the hotel to be on a safe side

The hotel costs are very high! I would recommend eating in the city if you can. Just one nespresso capsule is about 4€... Breakfast and meals are not the best in this hotel btw.
