I stayed here three nights in two separate occasions.
First time I checked in at 3 AM and, without being asked, was given a room on the 3rd floor (all smoking rooms). Immediately upon entering I said I needed a non smoking room. The head receptionist who helped with my luggage at first said the hotel was full and that I’d need to wait until the next day. When I persisted I was then asked to wait until he had checked in another couple who had just arrived from the airport. I asked why as I had arrived first and it would take two minutes to check if he had a non smoking room? To continue checking in those guests I was then told that the non smoking room needed cleaning (really at 3 AM?) and that I needed to wait 10-15 minutes. As soon as he had checked in the other two guests the night receptionist handed me the key to the non smoking room. Not cool. But other than that the service was good.
The hotel lobby is not befitting of a five star, but rooms are spacious and comfortable. Good free WIFI; satellite TV includes English channels; clean; fast laundry service; good and clean spa facilities (though ladies’ sauna is not hot) though steam is). Separate male/female gym facilities. Small rooftop pool.
The breakfast buffet is high quality and they provide some variety of the hot options daily.
It’s a shame you can’t charge your phone while the bedside light is on. Strange design for a modern five star.
Still, I would stay here again but double check to ensure I didn’t get a smoking room.

Stayed here twice in Aug 2024 with friends. This was at the start and end of our Tajikistan Pamir Highway trip.
Location is very central and near most landmarks, which we walked to in 15-20 min. There are also many great restaurants in the area, for visiting tourists and business people. It is also very close to the airport, maybe 10-15 min drive.
The building looks very new from the outside, but the inside is more like a traditional hotel. The rooms specifically remind me of the old Taj Group hotels in the 1990/early 2000s, especially the toiletries seem to smell the same as well. However the room is very spacious and comfortable, and the bed offers comfortable sleep. While the efficient aircon offers respite from the heat outside. Windows are well sealed and dont let any road noise in, despite being located on a busy avenue.
The facilities are decent at the hotel including the restaurant and the bar, both of which have good staff, even if the culinary offerings are quite standard. WiFi works decently.
The pool area could be larger, and seemed to be fully occupied and quite crowded on the 2 occasions I visited. The hotel would do well to move it to the back yard from the current location on the roof.
Overall, I would recommend staying here. There is some sense of nostalgia and old school hospitality vibe, but it’s all good. Don’t expect a major luxe experience, even though it may feel like that after your travels on the Pamir Highway.

Located in the heart of the city this is a lovely hotel. The rooms are large, decorated in a middle eastern appearance with lovely big chairs & very high ceilings which is a nice change to the often bland sameness of other five star chains.
There is a large walk in shower & also a bath. But a bit strange that the only way to turn the bathroom lights off was the master switch so everything went out. Keeping the door closed at night was the only solution.
Beds were large & comfortable, the pillows a bit too soft for me. The TV had a few English speaking stations & the free wifi was reasonable.
The buffet breakfast had a good selection of hot & cold food although the service was somewhat slow when ordering eggs & cleaning the tables.
But overall I nice place to stay.

I have noticed a big difference in staff treatment of local guests and foreigners in this hotel. I have been a client since the hotel opened many years ago. In particular quality of service in the restaurant has gone down with unfriendly staff and at times very rude treatment, poor communication. The other day a waitress in the restaurant presented us with a wrong bill (higher than actual) but when I called her on it, she never apologized and rudely said she "assumed" certain age of children so she didn't think we should have a discount. Although we had a right based on our membership card. She never checked the age of children, just assumed. She brought the new bill with no apologies. Their pool showers and toilets have deteriorated (smell and half not working) over years and are not upgraded. Pool fee is that's why overpriced. This used to be our family's favorite place😟

I was extremely pleased to be able to stay in Serena Hotel Dushanbe during these difficult and uncertain times (Covid-19). The Hotel Manager and staff were very helpful at all times, and did everything to make sure the guests could enjoy their stay even though the circumstances. The restaurant is great, and even after a month in the hotel I enjoyed eating the food. The staff was very friendly and eager to help, and their level of English is very good. Would be happy to come back to this great hotel.

The start was not positive because the confirmed airport pick-up did not turn up (02:30), and when we arrived after 03:00 there was no one available at reception.
Unfortunately there was no city map available either. The people at reception were very friendly, but the "manager" always has to decide on requests and if he is not there, nothing happens.
The room was very good and exactly as shown in the pictures, large and clean. Unfortunately the view was exactly a large construction site and the room could not really be darkened, which is why you wake up very early in the morning. There is a fridge, but it was not really filled except with water bottles.
The breakfast was OK, but not really 5*.
On the positive side, the friendly and very helpful staff, most of whom spoke acceptable English. The food was good and the service was professional. Unfortunately there was only one restaurant, the other was closed and the bar is not really inviting.
The location is excellent, right on Rudanki Boulevard, the main promenade, everything is close by and you can reach it on foot, including many good restaurants. The massages offered at the hotel were excellent and highly professional.
Since I paid a price well under 100 US dollars per night, I can be very satisfied with what was offered. Maybe not a 5* hotel but a good and well-maintained 4 star hotel

Simply amazing, I can't say enough great things, but I'm going to try! When you think of the Serena brand, you think premier and the Dushanbe Serena Hotel fits that perfectly. Our stay was phenomenal! The staff is very professional and so kind. We were comfortable and absolutely enjoyed our stay there. Thank you Dushanbe Serena Team! :)
Let me break it down:
Location/ hotel site: The hotel is walking distant from restaurants, entertainment, city center, markets, etc. The building is beautiful, modern, pretty to the eye, and has a geometric vibe. The view from the elevator is captivating, you can see the snow capped mountains. The site is clean and pristine. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and modern. The business area is easily accessible. They have great WIFI throughout the hotel. Conference room is large and has a pretty view. The staff brought us snacks and beverages during our meeting. In the lobby, there is a counter where you can buy pastries and snacks, they are fresh and yummy! There is also a gift shop/ small store, as well as a trendy restaurant-ish area, with the sweetest staff!
Service/ staff: We had a late night arrival and even then we were warmly welcomed and greeted. The staff took care of us, got us situated, and asked if we needed anything at all. Breakfast was a delight, so many buffet and made to order options. Decadent pastries and juices! Food was fresh, looked delicious, and tasted even better! I'm still dreaming about the fluffy, veggie, and cheese omelet! Dinner options were great too, again fresh and delicious! The staff checked on us through out our stay. They went out of there way to make sure we were comfortable and attended to.

We rested with my husband and child in this hotel! Pros: the staff is amazing, the receptionists are responsive, sincere people, professionals in their field! Any request when calling from the room is responded to immediately! Cleaning is also excellent. The restaurant is also always ready to help!
Everything you need is in the room, bathrobes, slippers, threads, comb, gels, etc.! The towels are new and soft! Clean bed linen, mini bar includes water, cola and forfeit.
Cons: zero sound insulation, it feels like a walk-through yard! They clap, stomp, talk around the clock and you can hear everything in the room! The cleaning lady down the corridor starts making noise already around 7-8 in the morning, so you won’t be able to get enough sleep! In Hyatt and Hilton hotels no earlier than 10 am!
Breakfast is a C grade, very little choice. But there were no hungry people left! The coffee is decent, the pastries are very tasty!
We asked for an ironing board and they brought it quickly! But she is so old!!!! I never saw my great-grandmother so old when I was little! Seriously, it's worth every penny! The iron is also old.

I stayed at the Dushanbe Serena Hotel for 4 days and then another 3 while visiting Tajikistan last year. The rooms were clean, spacious and included a really INCREDIBLE breakfast buffet. I was particularly impressed by Rukhshona, who is one of the Managers there. You could see that she was the anchor for many of the staff while ensuring an incredibly high level of service.
I was so impressed that I spoke to her about her commitment to her job which is clearly so much more than professional. She explained to me that as the Serena chain is owned by the Aga Khan family, the head of which is the living Imam of the Ismaili people, a faith to which she belongs including many of the staff originating from the Pamir area of Tajikistan. She explained further that her commitment to providing the best service is actually how she honours her traditions and pays respect to the Aga Khan. It's rarely that you will find any professional in the world with a spiritual connection to their workplace and this is incredibly evident in the level of service you'll see at the Dushanbe Serena. I'd go as far as saying it's been one of the most enjoyable stays of any place I've visited - and I'm a documentary filmmaker that travels the world. I hope to visit soon once the COVID-19 situation improves and enjoying that lovely breakfast and top notch service.

At the front desk, people don't say the real cost of the room, only part of it.
Booking and other services, reduce the amount of accommodation by a third, which is about $50 a day. So if you decide to stop just the Online Reservation.
The hotel has no entrance in the center, only on the sides, they are designed only for cars.
Rooms are clean, but not wow, for which $150 a room never figured out.
In a country where an average Zp of $150 a night you give that amount away, super unreasonable price.
