Disappointing stay! Poorly maintained... Room was dusty with dim lighting. Zero for customer service. The shared bathrooms and toilets are horrendous. The only upside was the decent study area and its convenient location.
This is the cafeteria of the YMCA, open to all. If you are looking for a very decent Sri Lanka dish below 250 SLR, this is the place. Lot of regulars who come at lunch break. Offering a good diversity of local flavors at unbeatable prices. I paid 230 for a double portion of brown rice, one of beetroot, one dahl, one lady finger, one chili and a 2 spoonful of chicken. You can treat yourself with a yogourt in you still have 70 in coins. Access to the chapel is also free if you want to meditate or pray.
We stopped at Colombo for a couple of hours before leaving at dawn to Dubai. We needed a shower and a place to stack our gear so that we could tour the city. Ended up at this YMCA. Paid 2500 rupees for a couple of hours. The place was a total waste, unsafe and sordid. Filthy. Not recomendable at all. Needs a total makeover.
This place is located in the center of the city and near to the bus stand and railway station. If you consider this place as a last option for a sort stay then you may consider. But not highly recommended place to visit and stay.
The only good thing about this place is central location (colombo fort) and mosquito nest. Otherwise stay away. Room was neglected and had horrible smell (possibly of some chemicals). Also dirty shared bathrooms, no toilet paper or soap, broken showers, no window glass and see-through room doors. Wifi was only in the lobby and was not working well. For what they offer its very overpriced...
