I stayed for 1 night whilst we waited for a morning flight from Colombo Airport.

We arrived quite late in the evening and departed after an early breakfast but from everything we saw I think we would very happily stay here again either passing through on the way to the airport or possibly as a base to explore the centre of Sri Lanka from.

Due to our Hilton Honors status we were fortunate to be upgraded to a Deluxe Suite with access to the Executive Lounge.

The room was very well appointed with a separate living area and despite only being on the 8th floor, it had good views over the city. I had read previous reviews regarding upgraded rooms being far superior to ones that hadn’t been freshly decorated; I understand that our room was one that had recently been refurbished and I thought it was well up to standard for the price point.

The Executive Lounge was pleasant with a good choice of food and a reasonable choice of complimentary alcoholic beverages between 1830 and 2030. It didn’t have the atmosphere of some Club Lounges I have been lucky enough to visit and was only on the 2nd floor, but the staff were helpful and it was just what my wife and I needed after a long day travelling.

The standout feature for us was the breakfast. It was a standard buffet offering but what made it so good was the range of different food styles on offer and the beautiful setting overlooking a lake where Black Swans and Carp fish were getting fed. My wife was very pleased with the variety of vegetarian options available and I found the space and relative peace and quiet of the restaurant very refreshing.

I would certainly recommend the Hilton as a base for exploring Colombo or a night stop on your way to the airport, especially if you want the reassurance of a ‘brand’. I can’t comment on other facilities but the pool area looked good and the location would have been convenient if you want to explore Colombo.

Hilton Colombo was the last leg our our couples trip to S.Lanka and what a nice and relaxing stay it was. Our check in right up to the last day check out was so efficiently handled by the Front Desk Manager Mr Natal Gunawardena. Hats off to him for providing us with all the comforts and attending to all our requests during our stay. The balance staff who we interacted with were all of very high service mind and full professionals as can be said of the Hilton Brand.
The location of the hotel was on a side road but accessible to all the major attractions and the main Galle road of Colombo. Rooms were very nice and well decorated, especially the ones with the ocean view. The Graze breakfast room layout overlooking the small but beautifully managed fountain pond that housed quite a few Black Swans , a beautiful sight. Breakfast spread was good and the food tasty. The lobby was the best part of the hotel inner premises, very well laid out with a lot of comfortable chairs to sit on and listen to the nightly band playing all the songs one could request for and get. Wok,the Chinese restaurant in the hotel was a real treat for us, the food was delicious and I would recommend all the staying guests to try at least one meal at the Wok. Overall, a very good stay for us.

This hotel is beautiful and makes you feel like you’re spoiling yourself. You feel safe at this hotel as there is quite a bit of security at the main entrance. The rooms are spotless and elegant. The staff is always happy to assist you if you need anything or have questions about the hotel or the city. I had my laundry taken from my room and delivered back to me same day fresh and folded. The pool area is unreal and has everything you could need (food & drinks brought to you). The Graze Kitchen has so many different food and dessert options for every meal of the day. The Graze Kitchen staff were also very attentive to the tables and I appreciate that. I had a wonderful stay.

Worst hotel I stayed at in Sri Lanka and most disappointing hotel I have ever stayed at.
First off, the hotel is a bait and switch. They use renovated rooms for promoting but upon check in we were placed in a room that was probably nice in the 70s but not anymore. Everything was old and run down and the furniture was uncomfortable. The window had moisture between the panes so you couldn’t even see out as it was all fogged up. When we were settling in we found out the toilet leaked and got water all over the floor. We called the desk and they said they would send maintenance who we had to wait for for quite awhile. They were fast when they arrived and finished quickly but left toilet water and mud all over the floor. The front desk sent someone to clean it which consisted of wiping it around with a towel. No mopping, soap or chemicals. This made us question the cleanliness of the hotel in general.
As we were so disappointed with this room my wife asked to change rooms and was treated very disrespectfully by the staff. When I went down they responded very differently and acted like my wife was crazy but they were moving us to a renovated room. These actually looked like the photos. We have never asked to change rooms before this.
On our last day our flight was in the evening so we asked to store our luggage after checkout while we went to the mall. When we came back to grab our bags we hoped to pack our new clothes in the bags and use the washroom quick before leaving but it was obvious the hotel staff wanted us gone. They escorted us from the desk and watched us until we left.
This stay certainly did not live up to our expectations of a Hilton and we would not stay again.

Extremely disappointed is how I described our stay at Hilton Colombo. We recently stayed for 3 nights, and our experience was profoundly disappointing due to the continuous noise from construction on the upper floor. The highly disruptive noise was relentless and lasted from morning until the afternoon, with some light pounding during the evening, throughout our entire stay. Despite our several attempts to address the issue with the staff and hotel manager, no effective solution was made, and the disturbance continued unabated despite the multiple assurance that this will be rectified accordingly. We spoke to the manager and we were given apologies, also given the excuse that the noise was not only affecting us but in other rooms as well! This excuse did nothing to alleviate the extreme frustration of being unable to rest, relax, or focus on any work!

We understand that renovations are sometimes necessary, but the lack of consideration for guest comfort and the inability to solve the issue was unacceptable. Guests should at least be informed beforehand of any current construction or renovations.

This experience was particularly disheartening given the hotel’s supposed luxury status. The level of disruption and the inadequate response to the issue do not reflect the standards one would expect from a luxury establishment. As a paying guest, I expected a peaceful environment conducive to relaxation and productivity, not an incessant barrage of noise.

However, to at least end this with a positive note, I would like to acknowledge that the hotel staff, especially those working during breakfast, were consistently kind and attentive. Their warm service was a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating stay.

If you are considering booking here, I strongly advise you to verify the status of any ongoing construction or renovations beforehand and request a room far from the affected areas. The hotel’s potential is overshadowed by this glaring issue, and we cannot recommend it based on our experience. The failure to solve the matter and the overall lack of consideration for guest comfort was deeply disappointing and not reflective of the luxury status advertised.

I had the pleasure of attending a recent wedding at the Hilton Colombo, Sri Lanka and am thankful to the hotel for hosting an event that the Bride and Groom cum all the attendees enjoyed. The hotel staff was supportive and ensured that the arrangements were in place from table arrangements to organizing the buffet at the corridor adjacent to the hall, which was well handled as this is challenging due to the fact that this is a common passage of entry into the hotel from the car park and the Galle Road and those who are non - invitees walk into the hotel through this corridor to access the main lobby and restaurants, and and any hassle or disturbance was kept to the minimum with the invitees in queue for serving the food, and the rest of the aisle kept for the common walk. The toilets were regularly cleaned and the food was of taste and replenished at intervals too. Valet parking was available and the totality of experience was great.

Hilton Colombo is centrally located but definitely an oasis in the city! It has a very nice old tree and plant population, — top maintained!
The gym and large, very clean and well-tempered swimming pool are opposite the street from the hotel, but they are connected via an on-site overpass.
We stayed at Hilton Colombo at the beginning of our round trip by car through Sri Lanka and also a few days at the end.
On each arrival, even the first time at 6.00am they gave us an incredible upgrade to a large Deluxe Suite, even at the end of our trip again. The entire Hilton team at Hilton Colombo is top friendly, courteous, helpful!
The Executive Lounge is absolutely top! They offer an afternoon tea and happy hour of 2.5 hours in the evening, apart from breakfast, — you can hardly find that anymore! The food offered is exceptional in variety, quality and variety, — absolutely top!!!
The breakfast buffet is gigantic, hard to beat, — among other things, in addition to the excellent local and Asian dishes, a selection of top-class bread/rolls! We haven't seen this in three weeks!
We could park the car every time without any problems and free of charge in the hotel's underground parking.
We would check back into Hilton Colombo anytime and immediately and can only recommend it without restriction!!!

We stayed here for a night (spent two days) before our flight back to the U.K. after a 3 week holiday in Sri Lanka. I specifically wanted access to a hotel with a good gym and pool and good room service so that we would feel nice and fresh and relaxed before travelling home, I didn’t expect much as I have found it difficult to get this in the areas we were travelling in. The Hilton has a brilliant gym and we also had a lovely sauna/steam and jacuzzi before relaxing at the lovely outdoor pool with a smoothie. We were upgraded to one of the new rooms and it was absolutely stunning, really modern and high end and we spent most of our time in our robes and slippers watching tv. We had food and cocktails via room service, cocktails and food quality was amazing overall and staff couldn’t be more helpful. One issue was the breakfast order to the room, I ordered continental breakfast and half of it was missing when it arrived. I had to call back several times and he seemed surprised that I also wanted to fruit platter and cereals (as it said on the menu and which I had paid for). My partner had ordered eggs on toast and it came with smoked salmon too, we had to call back about this and the manager said he added it because he thought we might like it. I’m sure he was just trying to be helpful but it meant 6 or 7 phone calls back and forward and we didn’t have a very relaxing breakfast. The food itself was wonderful and the staff really do work hard and are incredibly polite.
We were advised on check in there would be some renovation noise during the day which there was but it stopped exactly when they said it would and we didn’t mind this as they are clearly working hard to upgrade the hotel. We didn’t see any area that looked like it needed upgraded as we had a new room, the entrance hall/lobby is absolutely stunning. We also used their airport service and although more expensive than a local taxi, it was very convenient and professional and we were taken in a lovely new car. Overall had a fantastic stay here and would 100% recommend.

I travelled to Colombo Sri Lanka and stayed here at Hilton Colombo from Aug 26, 2024 to Aug 30, 2024.
I am from the Philippines and checked in this hotel around 930pm local time and was given room 1309. Below are some of my sharing:
1/ I lost money during this trip.
Sadly a huge amount was taken from my wallet in multiple different currencies. I would presume that the person who took it had time to really go through the currencies in my wallet as the ones taken were currencies you can exchange locally in Sri Lanka i.e. USD, CAN$, Euro, etc. My wallet was not taken along with my IDs (thank God) as well as my Philippine Peso currencies (you cannot exchange this locally). I travel a lot and i sort of keep/collect different currencies from different countries and safekeep it in my wallet. This also serves as an emergency source for me in any situation that calls for a sudden need of cash when i travel. Sadly this is my first to experience such and that also in a 5 start hotel! Of course I reported it and as expected got a response that it was nothing from the hotel.
The lesson learned from this is DO NOT TRUST. On my fourth day of stay i went down to take the hotel usual breakfast and left my wallet inside my bag which is in the hotel room. I did not took it with me since i trust the hotel and its brand - which was a mistake. That morning when i went out of my room I came across with a hotel crew and requested to replenish the water and went down for breakfast. When i came back they did left new supply of water and services the room as well. It was also my mistake maybe why i did not use the safe inside the room. Honestly i never did in any of my travels - again because of trust, since i usually keep my important stuff - including my wallet - in my bag.
2/ Food service
During the stay I always had breakfast in the Hotel and sadly the experience was not that great - at least for a 5 start hotel. on that 5 days every time there is only 1 guys preparing/cooking for eggs in which case there is always a traffic queue. In my experience I had in multiple occasions queued for my order of omelet eggs, came back and it was given to somebody else, so then I have to reorder again and spend more time again. Additionally, in all of these i asked that they do not put chili in the omelet - since i know Sri Lankan's love spicy foods - however in all servings they had chilis - so im not sure if they can understand well or because of the long queue or something.

I have stayed at nearly every five-star hotel in Colombo over the past 30 years, including the relatively new Shangri La and Kingsbury; I have no hesitation in stating that Hilton Colombo’s customer service is second to none. Much of the credit is owed to the employees who have been with Hilton over several decades, they treat their newest customers with the same warmth and hospitality that they offer to long time patrons of the hotel. Everyone at Hilton, from the front desk staff to the housekeepers and from the concierges to the chefs are never shy to go the extra mile to make a difference.

In addition to the staff, the food at Graze Kitchen is delectable, with a wide variety of cuisines available for all palates, from authentic Sri Lankan food to Western, Indian, and Chinese dishes as well for all three meals. The lobby has live music every night and is a wonderful place to spend an evening with your friends and family. The Executive Lounge is a quiet place to spend an afternoon working, with a large and diverse buffet spread during Happy Hour that can double as dinner.

The main area for improvement at Hilton Colombo is the rooms. Though the lobby and other common areas have been recently renovated and reflect the five-star designation for the hotel, the rooms and suites haven’t been updated since the hotel was built nearly four decades ago. Thankfully, the management is rectifying this and the hotel is nearing completion of the first stage of it.
