Detailed Reviews
We were in Ulaanbaatar for a wedding and the host put us into another hotel. After staying there one night and dealing with a whole list of issues and problems, we immediately moved out and instead checked into the Best Western Premier Ulaanbaatar.
And it was worlds apart. The rooms were clean, the plumbing was working, air conditioning existent, and the breakfast was decent. The location was great too; it was a short walk to UB Square, making it a very central location to most of Ulaanbaatar. Right next to the hotel you can find KFC (our haven after so many days of Mongolian food), Nomads (quite a well rated Mongolian restaurant), Coffee Shops, a supermarket, and a mall.
Front desk has staff who can speak decent English for you to get around, and the Customer Service Manager Ariuna was super helpful in recommending food, shopping places, tourist areas, guides, and anything you want to ask about UB in general.
Wifi is decent. The breakfast is international and decent, but don't expect a grand spread. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and the views of the city are amazing if you managed to get one facing Sukhbaater Square. We felt super comfortable and safe staying in this hotel.
I've stayed at a few different UB hotels before, and I'll say that this is the best value for money. If I do go back to UB, I'll definitely stay here again!

We stayed here on 3 separate occasions during our travels in Mongolia. Each time we were impressed by the professional staff, both at check-in and at the breakfast buffet. They were courteous, professional and efficient. The only exception to this was the lack of a dedicated staff member at the omelette station at breakfast - the ingredients were there, but we never saw anyone manning it. However, the selection of other breakfast items was excellent and we didn't feel we needed the addition of an omelette.
On each visit we had a different room, and each time it was clean, comfortable and with an excellent view. The beds were comfortable and large (King). Each room had a kettle, tea, bottled water and a fridge. Air con worked very well.
The bathroom, with the funky window overlooking the bed, had a shower with very good water pressure and reliable hot water. The floor was even heated!
The wifi worked well, with a wireless router in every room.
The elevators were rather small, and one time while we were there one of the two was out of service, making for long waits.
The location is excellent, half a block from Sukhbaatar Square, right next to shopping, and half a dozen restaurants within the same block (and even more within 3 or 4 blocks). You can't go wrong here!
I would definitely stay here again if I'm ever in Ulaanbaatar again!

This hotel has everything a pampered westerner could want. The rooms are spacious, the reception is attentive. There are two restaurants and a bar with a fabulous view. The breakfast buffet has everything from salads, to pastries, to an omelette station. We had them launder a few items at a very reasonable price. The hotel is situated just a minute’s walk from the great square and close to a bank and grocery store. We stayed here at the beginning and end of our journey

I spend four nights in the hotel; from the moment i entered the premises, i was well received and well taken care of. The facilities are excellent, hotel is a few mins walk to parliamentary buildings and well located. One could walk almost anywhere and back to the hotel.
It then happened that my cellphone screen got damaged. The staff volunteered in assisting me to get the phone repaired. Service Manager walked me to the cellphone repair shop, negotiated on my behalf and my phone was delivered to my room repaired!! Thank you...

The Best Western in UB is the perfect beginning and ending to your adventure travel in Mongolia. The rooms are standard but comfortable. The location is excellent and within walking distance to the square, mall, and restaurants. There is a restaurant in the hotel on the 25th floor with an amazing view!
At the beginning of the trip, we used the Best Western Hotel as our base to gather additional supplies, recover from jet lag, and shower before heading out on our week of horseback riding in Mongolia.
After riding for a week in Mongolia without a shower, the Best Western provided a wonderful, hot and comfortable shower as well as a comfortable bed.
I will stay at the Best Western upon my next return to UB!

I stayed in this hotel for 1 week. We had a family suite where there was a double bed, and a separate room where there were two single beds with a separate toilet and washbasin. The room was very spacious for 3 people, with gorgeous views of the Ulaan Baatar skyline.
The bathroom we stayed in had a separate shower and bath, and both were very clean with great amenities provided.
Our stay included free breakfast, although the choices weren't that great, and sometimes when some items were running low in supply, they weren't always replaced.
We must give specific praise and thanks to Buyanaa - she made our stay that much more pleasant in many ways:
1. She gave us detailed and patient guidance about visiting the city sights (with maps, directions, annotations etc.), and helping us arrange transport there (preventing us from being cheated loads of money)
2. When we got back she offered a morning call the following morning (we had an extremely early flight), as well as arranged for us to have one packed breakfast each to take with us to the airport (the were good-tasting toasted sandwiches)
3. Her attitude and friendliness really stood out - she was a star and has done real credit to her industry and country. Bravo!

This room had a 5 star view of the square but everything else was a 4. You had to climb over a tub wall of about 24 inches to use the shower. The shower nozzle leaked so water pressure was not good. The bath amenities were tiny tubes; barely enough for one person, never mind two. They need to ditch the plastic and install those large dispensers for bath gel, shampoo and conditioner. The AC stopped working and we had to get maintenance up to fix it. Outlets or usb ports would be great near the bed. The breakfast was okay, although selection of food items was great. They rarely were ready at 6am, the posted time to open and a lot of the food was only warm, not hot. Location was great with an easy walk to restaurants, markets, and museums.

+1
The Tuushin is a high-end, venerable hotel. The lobby was large and modern pleasant. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The views from our floor were spectacular. The wifi was fast and simple. Their breakfast buffet was competent though not overly elaborate nor memorable. Some hotels leave the visitor with a feeling of satisfaction, like one stayed someplace special. We never got that feeling. Perhaps it was due to the staff which was pleasant and cordial, but which did nothing to go out of the way to be helpful. Or perhaps was that the hotel felt average. Anyhow, it rates 4 stars, but not more. If we return, we might check out other hotels.

The rating is based on the appalling and unacceptable service we received in the Premier Lounge on August 7. We arrived at the hotel from Khovd via Uglii at about 10:00 pm at the end of a long day. The website showed that the Premier Lounge is open till 12:00 am/midnight. The Guest Services booklet in the room shows that it is open Monday-Sunday up to 2:00 am. Our group of nine was seated by 10:20 pm. The waitress alerted us that the kitchen would close very soon, so we placed our orders quickly. She returned soon after to say that the kitchen refused to service the order! We approached the senior most staff in the lounge (there was no manager). This gentleman did not respond to us or apologize and maintained a studied silence. This is unacceptable in a hotel that claims high standards.

Nice hotel in the heart of the capital. Very spacious rooms with partially opening windows. Some with splendid views of the main square. Large bathroom without bidet (we knew) with shower inserted in the tub and with a funny non-opening window that looked into the room. With curtain. Wide range of amenities. Cleaning ok. The breakfast was good although on the day the naadam began there was a bit of disorganization due to the concentrated influx of guests. The elevators were very slow.
