The room is clean, well maintained and near Mae Kong river that you can stroll and find something to eat in the evening. However, due to its recent maintenance before my arrival, the smell of paint was obvious at the beginning of my stay. Other than that, I really enjoy here.

Dear siree931, First of all, thank you for your comment. Before you check in, we touch up work for your room to prepare you to welcome. During touch up work, we had some painting works in the room after the work, we used ozone equipment to vanish smell. On the other hand, it seems like painting smell was still in your room. We apologize Inconvenience caused due to the smell. From now onwards, we will use ozone equipment to use more time to vanish smell to complete vanishing the smell in the room. Again, thank you for choosing Somerset Vientiane. Best regards, Somerset Vientiane Keisuke Kiyota

I was disappointed with this property. I booked a 2-bedroom unit, and my biggest complaint was the many mosquitoes in the room when we checked-in and although we tried smashing them all between our clapping hands, more continued showing up during our 4-day stay even though we kept the doors and windows closed. We were also greeted with a dirty rag on the bathroom counter that a housekeeper had left and a half-full water bottle on the balcony with a cigarette bud floating in it. The washing machine in the room was disgusting… black mold growing all over the rubber door gasket, and it smelled terrible. The room's safety box stopped working, so a hotel engineer unbolted the old box and replaced it with another one. The next day, the replacement safety box would not open, and the engineer could not find the physical key that is used to open the box when the electronic mechanism stops working, so they had to physically destroy the box door with a hammer, chisel, and hacksaw blade to retrieve my valuables. Lastly, the beds were too hard and the wi-fi was unreliable and very slow. There was no effort by hotel management to apologize for these problems and I will not be returning.

Dear Traveller_Scott, Thank you for sharing experience. First of all, we apologize your inconvenience caused your stay due to many issues. We have fogging for mosquitoes every Wednesday every week, but at the mean time, we determined to increase the number of fogging to reduce the number of mosquitoes. Also, we conducted training of cleaning service to all housekeeping staffs to keep our service standard. Plus, we reminded our guest service staff to check room in advance more carefully. Additionally, we reminded housekeeping supervisor to check the room after housekeeping attendants clean the room. Again, we terribly sorry that you experienced inconvenience during your stay at Somerset Vientiane. Best regards, Somerset Vientiane Keisuke Kiyota

Stayed there 7 nights. Booked room with balcony, but it was little mistake (in the evening there are lot of mosquitos). So you can’t enjoy view and vibes in balcony. Pool water is littlebit cold and pool restchairs are very old and damaged. Hope that Management will change them soon:) But Staff is friendly and I felt that I was like in home! Big plus was that they have self-service laundry room for guests (free of charged). Near pool area!

Somerset is situated at a decent location and pretty close from the Airport. On the Good side, it has big size rooms with all basic amenities, however it does not have a resturant to serve lunch or dinner. Breakfast is available at hotel, but its pretty basic contiental breakfast. I also faced issue with Mosquitos all over the hotel and inside the room as well. One can consider this as a good decent budget hotel.

Dear RajeshBallal, Thank you very much for your comment and rating. We serve only continental breakfast in our restaurant between 6:30am and 10:30am. However, there are some restaurants around the property. There is one restaurant at the back side of the property as well as Mini mart and coffee shop. Also, walking towards Mekong river side about 5 to 7 minutes, there are many restaurants along with Mekong river. During winter time, Vientiane city tend to have more mosquitoes all over the city, however we conduct fogging to prevent from mosquitoes once a week. In addition, recently we increase to install more number of mosquito traps recently. Now, we are planning to purchase more number of those mosquito traps to decrease those risks. Again, thank you for choosing Somerset Vientiane. Best regards, Somerset Vientiane Keisuke Kiyota
