Attended an international conference there for two days in early August 2016. Didn't stay there but those who did said the rooms are big and old fashioned. Unsurprising as this hotel was built in a grand style with a huge lobby, grand staircase, big ballroom and multi-function rooms. So it's more suitable for large tour groups, meetings and conventions rather... More

Stayed here for 6 nights. Had to changed rooms after 4 cos the plaster on the ceiling of the first room came off. Thing is, I hadn't even noticed until the kind person from the reception called to alert me. Have to say that the hotel deserves credit for trying hard. Loved the firm mattress and spacious rooms. Location wise... More

In January this year, I stayed in Don Chan Palace again after my first visit in 2005 when the hotel had just opened for service for the first time. Vaguely, I still recalled the grandeur of the newly erected hotel in the middle of rather empty surrounding neighbourhood. Back then, there was only a wide road and a few local... More

The only reason this hotel is only nr 28 in Vientiane on Trip Advisor is probably that fewer tourists stay here than in the guesthouses. Because it is one out of two true luxury hotels in town. It is also located a bit at the outskirts of town, but the town is so small thay you can easily walk to... More

The hotel was alright if overpriced but it was the gift shop annoyed me. They were selling ivory products and when I asked why they said "don't worry it's from Africa". Other than that it was a very average hotel that relies on being famous. There are much better

My wife and I stayed for a week. The hotel was obviously built to a very high standard and the lobby is very impressive. The rooms are large and well appointed, but it is not hard to find little details, such a cracks in some tiles or poorly reapplied bath sealant the indicates the hotel is in need a redecoration... The hotel was booked for a business trip… it was the tallest building in the vicinity.. have two types of rooms…river view and city view…both r good.. higher floors would be preferable.. we went during Christmas time and the hotel premises were beautifully decorated.. the best part is the hotel is walking distance from the Night market… it starts at... Nice hotel, very friendly staff, but it is a bit out of the way from the action. I didn't have a room with a balcony it. Imagine as the city develops along the river it will not be alone for long. Great buffet breakfast with very fresh produce. Food in the hotel restraint while not oozing with atmosphere, the food... More

I was there on an official trip. the hotel is average- what could have been a great view of the Mekong is spotlit by a large piece of un-populated land right in front. Keep your curtains drawn during the day if you get a Mekong facing room as the air conditioning is average and the sun hits the windows directly... More
