After 3 weeks of budget hotels we spent 2 well deserved nights at the Dhavara Hotel. It was exactly what the doctor ordered (seriously I was very sick & just came from the doctors). The staff at check in were fabulous a little bit of a language barrier but we all got by. The buildings architecture is a stunning French Colonial. It has an old French colonial feeling to the furniture and decor through out the whole hotel. There is even a cute boutique store off the lobby. I just loved it here! It did cost us about $100CAD a night (this was Dec 28th-29th). So this might have been holiday season pricing. There was also cheaper rooms. So it is a bit pricey but still much cheaper than getting a hotel like this back home. We had a premier room. It was huge!!! Big comfy king size bed with amazing bedding and 4 pillows. There was so much room I didn’t no what to do with all the space. The bathroom had a huge bathtub, shower and did not have to fight to get hot water. Tv had English movies. Then seem to have everything; Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, blow dryer in each room, in-room safes, robes, well stocked mini fridge & snacks and so much more. Did I mention the old style feel but with all new stuff. There was no issues with the free wi-fi it worked awesome everywhere. Everyone at the hotel was amazing. So helpful and friendly. English was differently not even their second language. Google translator helped huge. Especially after they ask us to change it from Khmer to Thai. The hotel is showing a little wear in some of the paint but that’s seriously the only concern and problem with this place. The Restaurant was really good as well. We ate 2 dinner and 1 breakfast here. They took my food allergy very serious. Even the Chef would come out to follow up with the allergy. Dinner the first night was very quiet. They had a large menu (please see pictures). Prices ranged from 24,000KIP ($3.60CAD)- 180,000KIP ($27CAD). Which the 180,000KIP was for a fancy steak dinner. The menu is a big local, Thai and western. Dessert was excellent as well. Their home-made ice cream was incredible. Dinner the second night was very busy that we asked to site on the patio. It was the perfect night to sit out there and best of all no bugs! Breakfast was very good. I only ate to crepes nothing fancy but they were delicious. Im not really a breakfast person.…
Classic hotel with big room,.comfortable bed. Located at the city with restaurants and pubs around. Have a terrace, even the view is not special, it is nice to walk out to have some fresh air. Bathroom is a bit old but still okay. Staff are nice. Breakfast is very good.
This hotel is simply excellent, styled French Colonial. The rooms are large, spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is good and varied providing both western and eastern food. The staff are friendly and helpful.
During my multiple visits to Vientiane, I tried different hotels but from the last few visits, this is my only choice to stay while I am in Vientiane. Good Location, Highly cooperative staff, spacious rooms, complimentary Airport Transfers, are some of the great value additions. Highly recommended.
I was torn between this hotel and Salana boutique hotel a few blocks away. I decided on this one because I wanted to be a tiny bit off the beaten path to avoid drunk tourists yet close enough to walk anywhere. Stayed here for a week to visit family in Vientiane. Perfectly situated where it’s not too noisy. Breakfast options were fantastic and I enjoyed the private parking lot for my rental car. Colonial feel and huge rooms compared to other hotels. Clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.
Stayed for a couple of nights for business. Beautiful hotel, helpful staff. Pretty good location with a few Temples nearby and close to the river. Very large room. Very large and comfortable bed. Breakfast was very nice too.
Hotel is not a disappointment, i must have stayed in at Dhavara hotel now for 5-6 times. Always a pleasure to come back to Vientiane city. The rooms are huge and peaceful, the hotel is situated in downtown, but still very peaceful and there is no noise at all. Staff do speak English and are very cooperative to help. The breakfast has good spread, but when there is no fully occupancy then breakfast can be ordered, but still basic food is at the table, and has seasonal fruits. Hotel is at walking distance from Mekong river. This time round the pick up service at the airport did not work properly for me. The hotel management was apologetic.
Exceptionally well appointed room. Colonial style decoration. Great air conditioning. Comfortable. Welcoming and efficient staff. Super breakfast, with wide selection. Staff welcomed us with a lovely smile. Good location. Every amenity available. Only thing missing was a pool, simply because of the heat ! Really enjoyable stay. Free airport shuttle. Excellent public rooms and restaurant.
My wife and I stayed in this four-star rated hotel for seven nights in March of this year. We found it to be very stylish, very clean, well decorated with a wonderful decor. Our room was huge, with the biggest bed that we have ever slept in! It had a beautiful bathroom, excellent, comfortable and useful furniture, a modern TV, a good refrigerator and coffee and tea making facilities. This room was cleaned to perfection every day. Breakfast was excellent, however, the waiting staff were very inconsistent in that instead of asking, only twice during our stay, "Sir, would you like coffee or tea this morning? And would you like hot milk with your coffee? "Somedays, annoyingly, we even had to get up and go to the bar to ask for a coffee! It is a small matter I know but it did exasperate us, but it can be quickly improved upon by some training. The rest of the hotel staff we absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable and so polite. If we ever return we will stay at this hotel.…
Very pleasant staff, good location. The restaurant was charming.. we just had breakfast there. The rooms were large but unfortunately the matresses were far too hard. The staff did their best and let us try out other rooms and beds. We ended up having a huge room on a high floor with a king size bed ( most doubles were 2 singles put together) but the matress was stil hard. I hadn’t realised that the hotel offers free airport transfers... it didn’t mention that on the website but they told us when we checked in .. There is no pool. There is construction going on nearby so make sure you ask for a quiet room if you want a lie-in.
