We chose the Salana based on its location and reviews from TA. The location could not be better. Wonderful restaurants, unique shops, many sites and the Mekong river and night market are an easy walk away. The hotel itself is beautiful with many hand crafted wooden art pieces (for sale) through out the hotel. The room and bathroom were a bit small but were well arranged. As is typical of many Asian hotels the bed is a bit on the hard side, but not terribly. . Our room was across the street from a wat and in the very early morning you could hear the chants and gongs if you are a light sleeper. The spa is reasonably priced and a nice way to relax after a day of exploring. The bar/library looked like an inviting place to relax. Unfortunately we ran out of time. The breakfast offered both a buffet and menu items. The coconut pancakes and the Hawaiian fried rice were especially tasty. The Salana is a nice base to explore Vientiane .

This hotel gives you everything you want for a couple of nights in Vientiane. A great room with a very good bathroom. No bath but a big walk in shower. That always does the trick for me! Very good breakfast. Close to the night market at the Mehkong river. Reasonably priced. Very friendly and efficient staff.

My wife and I had been backpacking our way through the country and found the salana by accident. Decided we would treat ourselves after doing nothing but hostels for several days. Over the past year we have traveled japan, korea, Laos, Thailand, and the Philippines, and no hotel has come since. Joiy is an absolute professional and took care of everything we could ever ask for, as well as a plethora of things we never even thought to ask for. Treat yourself and stay here. It was worth every penny.

I have planned my business trip to Vientiane and I’m glad i chose Salana Boutique Hotel. This place has everything I needed in the hotel itself. The rooms are clean and comfortable, no disturbing noises despite being in the centre of town and Mekong area. What I like the most is the spa and the living room lounge. After a session of relaxing lao traditional massage, I can enjoy reading books at the lounge and even sip cocktails to watch the sunset. I recommend the restaurant Kitchen Vibe bistro as it is different from other cuisine, they have a mix of lao and western styles. I am deeply touched by the welcoming staffs, will surely come back here again. Very happy.

Positives: - quality of the accommodation is very high and you notice this immediately after you walk into the lobby. Staff is highly professional (this is esp. visible during breakfast). - rooms are big and beds very comfortable. And there was absolutely no noise disturbing our sleep, which isn't always the case in Asia. Plus you can see the nearby "wat" from the window. - location is perfect, several temples right next to the hotel, big night market on the banks of the Mekong is very close, many restaurants nearby etc...(besides typical Laotian stuff there is even a stand with Mexican churros!) Negatives: - it is rather expensive and so it's a pity there is no pool. Moreover, sometimes you have a feeling they aim mainly at rich tourists with no sense of local reality - e.g. when we wanted to go to the Buddha park, they recommended us to take a hotel car for 50 euros (if you take a tuk tuk from the street, you pay much less, not even mentioning the bus, but these alternatives were not proposed at all).
