As you enter the hotel during the day time you will look around in wonder. It’s quite a cute place albeit a little aged. You get nice greeting by staff but you’ll find yourself climbing up some dangerous steps to get to your rooms. The rooms are dusty and dirty. Needing a very thorough clean! Phone is dead with cables hanging out of it. The bathtub is a definite no, especially with no hot water. After a day outside I arrived back at night to see 4-5 rats running around outside the dimly lit entrance where tuktuk drivers are gathering. I was quite exhausted at this point and heard some scraping and what sounded like a crinkling plastic bag. I turn my phone light on to scan around the room where I’m met with 2 glowing orbs by the bin...... I turn the light on and a humongous rat jumps out. I go downstairs to get staff who bring up a can of raid??? And spray it everywhere. Asked for a new room and he told me to just keep all my belongings in the old room? Did not sleep a wink that night.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed or hope to stay in my life after having traveled 50 countries. Not even a back packer should consider in his worst night. This place is an absolute shamble. There is no elevator, no phone, no service at all. We checked in and reported broken telephone in the room. We had to climb steep marble steps three stairs down to ask for service. Nothing was done for 12 hours. The room has only recycled bottled water, that's scavenged from used wine bottles. We got one old ripped towel that I would even hesitate to use as floor mat. It took 5 hrs for them to replace it. The absolute horror is the bathroom, if there is one at all. There is no formal bathroom, only a glass divider with pull-in curtain to separate from the bed area, but no door at all. Of course there is no exhaust fan. You get a bathtub with no shower curtain. It's a total embarrassment if you travel with family. Behind the bed headboard you will discover construction garbage never cleaned and mazes of unsafe electrical connections. It comes with bed and breakfast. The breakfast area is a deadbeat place with four tables and chairs, barely tolerable. Some one would bring in fixed menu (two pcs of toast and two poached eggs) breakfast and coffee/juice. This hotel door opens into major bus station and opposite to flea market with stage singers that keeps going till mid night. Very uncomfortable for relaxation or sleeping. It's not worth your annoyance. Go some where.

The hotel is fine but not as portrayed which is deceiving when I choose a hotel according to my needs. It says there is a phone but the phone is only for calling the desk (didn't even work for that) but did not help for calling within Phnom Penh. It advertised an airport shuttle but really they just offer to call you a taxi which of course you pay for. It has a lovely bathtub but no hot water. The complementary welcome drink is a pitcher of water. There is free water in the hall. There is no elevator and my room needed repairs. It was a pretty room, laid out creatively. The room needed a good clean or paint. The walls were dirty, water stains on the ceiling in the bathroom, broken soap pump dispenser, broken toilet paper roll dispenser. Very pretty swan out of towels, comfortable bed. I ended up paying the same the next night at V-Boutique which was far, far superior. It does have a free airport shuttle, hot water and very clean beautifully appointed rooms and excellent staff. De Art is fine if they would advertise truthfully and a little cheaper.

The first time I stayed at this hotel, I was given a room with no access to WiFi I decided to give them a 2nd chance - What a mistake. I booked on Agoda and immediately saw that the date I chose was incorrect. I called the Hotel and asked them if they could change the date. Even though they had space on the correct date. They told me they could not change the date and I needed to contact Agoda to get a refund. I contacted Agoda and was told that the Hotel had a policy with Agoda of giving no refunds and that my credit card would be billed in full, even though I cancelled the booking within 5 minutes of making it. Then I contacted De Art Hotel via email and told them what happened. Instead of fixing the problem, they did not even bother to respond.

Close to Mekong River esplanade, restaurants and bars. Walking distance to the palace, museum, cultural centre and pagodas. The night markets are right in front of the hotel. Hotel does not have a lift so if you have difficulty with steep stairs find another place to stay. There was no hot water the night we stayed and the bathroom floor was extremely slippery when wet.
