I've been on working rip to Phnom Penh for the last four years, and have always chosen Sun & Moon Urban. It feels like home, now, with friendly staff, and a great location (ignore that it's just at the end of the red-light district; they people don't bother you if you ignore them (they're polite) A short 300m walk to the riverside, and a slightly longer walk in the opposite direction to the Central Market. Rooms are clean, things work, and the Skybar give you great views of the city at night. The pool is cool, too, though I've only used it once in the four years I've been there. Its quiet, unless you're in the uppermost floors and there's a weekend party at the rooftop bar. Nice Gym and Spa, too.
The location was a bit puzzling but once inside this was a great hotel. The ground floor had a lovely wine area and on the roof there was an amazing rooftop bar with very reasonably priced drinks and great food too. The rooms were a bit quirky but you soon got used to them. A lovely experience overall.
Stayed here for a few days while in PP. After reading the rave reviews on Tripadvisor we were slightly dissapointed. It was alright for us but nothing more. You pays your money you takes your choice. Pros - Nice pool on the roof - Good location near waterfront - Nice gym with good equipment Cons - Noisy, especially on a weekend. We were at the front and had to ask to move rooms to an internal room. Take some earplugs - Garish room decor, felt like it was trying to be too cool for school - If you're prudish its in red light district - Not the cheapest Didnt have the breakfast so couldnt comment
We stayed here 3 nights as part of a self-organised tour of Cambodia and Vietnam. We received a great welcome from the staff who were all very helpful and smiley. They agreed a late check-out of our room, and were helpful with advice for what to see & do whilst in Phnom Penh. We used one of the hotel's own tuk-tuks (Mr Jan n.o. 1), to see the Killing Fields and Genocide Museum (whole trip US$25) - he was very efficient and helpful. The hotel is in a great area, 5 mins walk to riverfront with choice of bars & restaurants, easy to get to Royal Palace/Silver Pagoda & Wat Phnom. There are a lot of 'lady-bars' in the road directly from the hotel down to the riverfront, but they are no bother and if you want to avoid this road, just walk a different way. The hotels's rooftop swimming pool is lovely, not that much space to lie on sunbeds, but adequate for the time you are there (a cool off at the end of the day mainly!), and the bar is a great place to view the city lit up at night..and the hotel itself looks amazing with all the coloured ceiling lighting! Can highly recommend their Ice Tea with fresh ginger & mint...yummy!! Breakfast is very nice. Rooms are modern, bright and spacious..perfect for our needs...great, large open shower too! Thank you to the hotel for arranging such a wonderful floral decoration on our bed for arrival and a delicious cake for our Anniversary/Birthday celebration! Would definitely stay here again!…
A very brightly decorated hotel the service was good. Our groups stay corresponded with my birthday. We had a great group meal and they even provided a birthday cake. The roof top bar and dining area g G ad excellent views. In fact we enjoyed our evening and hospitality so much that most of us stayed far longer than intended in the bar afterwards where the excellent meal service was equalled by that if the bar staff. Slept very well and hardly noticed the bright orange room decor !! Thanks to all the staff for hospitality.
