We stayed for a couple of days at Khavi Villa, and it was... OK. But when we left we asked them to book us a car to take us to Battambang. On the way there the car crashed, the driver disappeared, and we were left sitting in a car in the middle of nowhere with two kids. I phoned the hotel, and the manager told me it wasn't his problem, that it was just like they'd called a taxi for us. But I pointed out to him we'd paid them, and they'd issued us a receipt with the hotel's name on. And theirs was the only number we had. The manager refused to help us, and hung up on me. I would advise having nothing to do with these people. They don't care about their customers, just about $$$.

Room was at the back so was quiet away from the road front. Average size room, nice hot shower, clean but a little rough around the edges. Towels were a bit worn and when I asked for a couple of pool towels for me and my husband they only had one to spare. The pool is in the bar/restaurant area and quite small. Nice for a cooling dip. But I personally felt a bit uncomfortable in my bikini with the male staff hanging around. The restaurant was closed during our stay, so at least we didn't have to swim in front of people eating dinner. The staff were friendly though. I probably wouldn't stay there again, but I think it was in the lower price bracket, so you can't expect luxury. Close to everything you want to see and do, easy to walk around the city.

The photos are not accurate of what the hotel actually looks like in the present. The villa has seen better days. Pros: Location is fantastic. You are in 5-minute walking distance of the Royal Palace, Himawari Hotel, Street 240, Independence Monument and Riverside. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. The price is probably the lowest of most of the hotels in that area. There is an Indian restaurant on the premises as well as restaurants within walking distance to the hotel. The hotel has a small wading pool. Negatives: The villa has a serious black mold problem at the ground floor level and in every bathroom of every room I was in (I had been moved to 3 different rooms). In one of the rooms, the minifridge also had black mold and was very smelly. It was basically unusable. If you suffer from asthma you need to know that smoking is permitted in the hotel even though there are non-smoking rooms. The neighbors also burn incense which travels into the rooms along with any smoke from cigarettes being smoked on common area balconies. The hotel has a very small staff so I understand that some things will get overlooked but glassware and dishes in the room should always be clean which was not the case here as I found cups with lipstick stains in the room with the smelly fridge.

It's a funny thing.. photos. You find yourself looking at the website and thinking.. oh wow how cute. But then reality sets in as soon as you turn onto the road. Busses, tuk tuk's.. not the relaxing scene at all. And then the actual place. No food served even though most of the area is for tables, tiny pool with almost no sun. Just bland. Luckily the rooms were clean, Then shower modern and the beds big. Now perhaps just nice towels and soft pillows... Worth the money? I guess. But as to whether I will ever go again? Nope

During my 28 day travel through 3 countries, this was the best hotel I stayed at. The most expensive one too. It was so hot, and the swimming pool the right place to relax after a day of sight seeing. The room were big and the beds comfortable.
