We stayed here for three nights. Our deluxe room for the first night was at the back of the hotel facing the wall of the next door building and there was a constant ‘hum’ the whole night. When we spoke to the management in the morning we were offered a free upgrade to a room at the front of the building overlooking the swimming pool, this proved to be perfect and I would suggest that it’s well worth the extra cost. A tuktuk for the short ride to most sites is readily available. A decent breakfast sets you up for the day and although we did not eat there in the evening food is available. The staff were very pleasant and made us feel very welcome.

Had dinner and drinks at the Anise Hotel. Ordered Beef Loc Lak and Fish Amok. Excellent. Also has an excellent happy hour! Did I mention very attentive wait staff? Fanatastic service. Reasonably priced dishes including wester choices as well.

We stayed here for 8 nights from 12-20 Feb 2020, having booked directly with Anise Villa many months before. Room 201 is great having two large beds in one room and there is a second (open) room which can also be used as a bedroom or a TV room. It has a large private balcony overlooking the pool. The bathroom has a good shower. Aircon in both rooms is super. Anise Villa is in a peaceful side street and has a nice pool and bar / dining area surrounded by greenery. This is not the Ritz or the Grand, but neither is the price. Service is excellent, in particular special mention and thanks to Pov and the reception team (Buntha and Lida) for whom nothing is too much trouble and everything a pleasure; in the bar/ restaurant, Tithya, Loung / trainee (whose confidence was visibly growing daily) and Lida with his wonderful smile, sense of humour and «can do/ no problem whatsoever» attitude. Breakfasts (included in the room rate) and dinners for 8 days/ nights were excellent, the menu being a careful balance between conservative western and delicious Asian dishes - Chantha, Rayuo, Nasuoy and Sokun in the kitchen are all fabulous cooks using really fresh ingredients. Thanks to the excellent Sokheang and housekeeping team (Saren, Davin, Sreysros, Sreychea, Sreypich and Sokkhay); returning to spotlessly clean rooms each afternoon was a joy. We also have to thank Vanny for her diligent and careful laundering of our clothes. The room rate includes 5 items laundered and ironed per person per day! Last, but not least, thanks to Rechard, Samut and Phalla for undertaking their security duties. All of this is down to the fabulous Heng - a highly competent, hard working and professional «captain of the ship». Thank you all. With boarding cards printed for tomorrow’s flight we are sad to be leaving this wonderful place.

We arrived about 9:00 in the morning, to a warm welcome and the news that the room we had reserved was waiting. The rest of our four-night stay proved equally pleasant. The hotel is located on a quiet street not far from the Russian market and the genocide museum. Restaurants are within walking distance, though the hotel's kitchen proved remarkably competent and the meals we took there (including breakfast) were well prepared and tasty. Our room, on the top floor with a patio, had everything we needed to be comfortable. Staff were uniformly friendly and helpful, most with adequate or better English. All in all, for the price, the best hotel I've stayed at in my many visits to Phnom Penh. And the five pieces of free laundry per person was a terrific extra in a city where two showers and two changes of clothing per day are essential!

My stay and NGO work had me at Anise for a month+, so I got to know hotel & staff intimately, many on first name basis. Anise will get to know you too as they are a small, 21 rooms on 3 floors. The building is a well built concrete structure on a quiet street (in BKK1) with nearby convenient businesses. A wonderful hearty breakfast and daily laundry is included. From the beginning of my initial inquiries, manager, Mr. Heng was an excellent communicator. Most dine al fresco by the pool or indoor dining can also be arranged. During my stay, there was a international representation of guests, not all from one country. I took advantage of their DVD movie selection since I was there a long time. They will kill mosquitos for you.
