I visited Phnom Penh several times 2009-2016 and returned for a three-night stay after six years away. The city has changed remarkably during that time in mostly unpleasant ways - traffic, noise, construction sites everywhere. I stayed previously at a few of the mini-resorts in the city (252 and Plantation) but decided to try Rambutan this time. It is a nice small hotel, with a very friendly and helpful staff and good restaurant. The location is convenient despite being a bit south of the Palace area and there are several coffee shops and a supermarket close by. The MBK area is nearby and has become a hub of restaurants, shops, and bars. Unfortunately the peaceful atmosphere within the hotel's walls was spoiled by constant noise from the nearby construction sites every day from dawn until 9 or 10 PM. It seems that no location in Phnom Penh is immune from this sad reality that is certainly beyond the hotel's control but hopefully the city will return to its former tranquility before long.

I have reviewed Rambutan Phnom Penh before (Nov 2019) with a 5 star rating but I have had to slip the rating to 4 stars more of which below. Firstly, a big thank you to Prathna who kept in touch with me throughout the difficult travel period as I had to keep changing the reservation dates both at Rambutan Phnom Penh and Rambutan Siem Reap. He was so patient and extremely prompt in replying to my messages...thank you Prathna. As I have said before, the location of the Rambutan is excellent. The hotel is clean, rooms are excellent and the food is very good and tasty. As always, the staff are polite, friendly and extremely helpful. Why then has my rating slipped? Well, for one reason only. The dining tables have clear no smoking signs yet smoking & vaping during mealtimes at adjacent tables were allowed without comment. During my last evening it was so uncomfortable I left my table. I explained to the staff why. I hope this is just a temporary aberration as overall I desperately wanted to maintain my five star opinion of the Rambutan as it is a great place to stay.

Hidden in a quiet street of the chaotic PHnom Penh, the hotel is very well decorated, clean and silent. The swimmingpool is great and also the restaurant. Good breakfast. Nice team that will help you to solve your needs. Close to the city center.

Rambutan has ideal location, great rooms and atmosphere, and wonderful staff. Super gay friendly, not welcomes all. Food and drinks are great, staff go out of their way to be helpful. I also like their commitment to environment, they do lots to be a green hotel. Highly recommended!

Comfortable beds, a wonderful (strong!) shower and delicious breakfast… important points but the most important point is the staff! What a wonderful group of people who are so extremely helpful and who go out their way to make your stay perfect.

Dear Jacq N. Thanks for the kind words and it was great having you after these horrible years, we managed to stay open but soo many colleagues had to close. We are happy that things go back to normal and that Cambodia is an easy country to fly into (you only have to be vaccinated). Welcome to our place, and we hope we see you come back. Dirk

This hotel seems to hit the perfect balance between modesty and luxury. I could’ve chilled out here for several more days for sure! My room had an outside bath tub eh in I didn’t use but would have been cool. Pool is small but really nice and perfect for lounging next to. Staff very friendly and smiley. Would come back.

I have stayed multiple times at both the SR and PP Rambutan Resorts. The PP location is offering some attractive low season discounts so I decided to spend five nights to escape from quarantine in my hometown of Kratie. It was a good choice. The service and accommodations were the usual high standard of functionality and cleanliness. Friendly and efficient staff. Good food and drinks from the restaurant. Didn't try the pool, but it looks very inviting surrounded by tropical plants.

Very welcoming, friendly and accomodating staff. A great restaurant (in fact we ate a few meals there rather than going further afield). The room was comfortable and the outdoor bath was very soothing after a sticky dusty day; the bath does take a long time to fill though so be aware of that. Highly recommended.

We were greeted with a cold towel and drink and shown to our room quite quickly. The garden rooms are ok but a bit sparten and the polished concrete floor just wasnt to our taste. But we loved the breakfasts and chose to eat our evening meals there as the food was very good and reasonably priced. The hotel did not push any tours on us but were very helpful with advice of things to see and how to do it.

This is a great find. The best thing about the hotel is the great staff. They are attentive, eager to help, and always with a smile. The dining/pool area feels like a living room, where interesting people drop in for a chat. The meals are delicious and well-prepared. Rooms are a nice size, comfortable, and quiet. It’s an easy tuk-tuk ride to the center of town, and there are good restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again.
