The White Mansion Phnom Penh, once the US Embassy, mesmerizes guests with its historical allure, grand staircases, and a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary decor. Many travelers consider the hotel a great value, offering reasonable rates for its fine dining and quality breakfast, though there's room for improvement in the breakfast offerings.
The spacious and comfortable rooms with historical charm receive high praise, although some guests suggest they could benefit from renovation. The hotel's cleanliness and attentive staff consistently earn rave reviews, contributing to a memorable stay, and while the pool is appreciated, a few find it a bit cool.

Detailed Reviews
We spent 4 nights here in February. A lot of pride has been put in to restoring this property, wonderful sweeping staircase, rooms are large, with top end bed linen and towels.
The staff and service are 5 star, breakfast is the best we have had in 8 weeks of travelling through Vietnam in to Cambodia.
We had a few issues with inconsiderate people above us who were pacing up and down all hours, we mentioned this to reception via WhatsApp and they went up and asked if they could be a little quieter, that fell on to deaf ears so reception moved us to another room which allowed for a good nights sleep.
The pool is about 25 metres with sun beds, however the picture on the website are a little misleading as there is a huge building next door that left me feeling a little claustrophobic, but besides that it a great hotel in a very good location.

I was very happy with my recsent 2 day stay at White Mansion Legend. As the former US Embassy the building itself is very grand with sweeping stairs and gleaming open spaces, lots of polished wood and nice accents like vintage motor bikes dotted around the property. Even though I was not offered a welcome drink (?) my check in was smooth and I was delighted to be upgraded to a wonderful 2 room suite. My room was enormous and so comfortable I was loath to leave and explore the sights of PP. High ceilings, a king size bed decorated wit orchid flowers, a fruit plate, an enormous bathroom and several couches were only some of the features of my great room. I had time for a quick dip in the ground floor long and narrow pool: lovely and refreshing. The very best thing of all was breakfast. After much time travelling in Asia I was craving quality French style croissants, baguettes and chocolatines. Paired with great coffee, and (my choice,; there were many other options) fruit, passion fruit juice, granola and yogurt, I was in heaven. The location of White Mansion is very good. Just walk up the street for less than 10 minutes to the Royal Palace and then on to the waterfront and PP's other main attractions. I was a single woman and had no issues walking back alone at night. I would - and will - definitely return to White Mansion Legend!

My Mother and I stayed at White Mansion for 5 days. The staff werer particularly wonderful compared to other hotels I have stayed at. Nothing was too much trouble for them and the went above and beyond to help whenever needed. Our room was spacious, clean and had all necessary amenities. Good size bathroom, fast WIFI. The whole hotel eminates a calm feeling, whilst being centrally located in Phnom Penh. The hotel has their own Tuk Tuk drivers who were all wonderful. The restaurant attached to the hotel is small, but there was always empty seats available. Breakfast was basic, but alternative dishes could be arranged. Can highly recommend White Mansion for an enjoyable Phnom Penh stay.

Arrived in Cambodia late evening, so decided to stay here before moving on the next day to Siem Reap. Great choice as an entry to the country. We just love boutique hotels. The hotel is very elegant and quiet. No bus load of tourists at this place. The staff were absolutely pleasant and accommodating. They provide a complementary pick up at the airport; however, there is an extra charge of $5 US from 830 pm-6:30 am. They also booked us a taxi back to the airport for $15 US. They provide maps and suggestions to visit in the area. It is walking distance to the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda.
We had a deluxe double room which was very large and comfortable. No problems with noise in the area and can easily sleep through the night. Air conditioning was very quiet and worked well. The bathroom is modern and spacious that two people can comfortably get ready in the morning for the day. They provided free water.
The Eric Kayser restaurant attached provides great food. There are so many selections of pastries and all fresh. We booked directly with the hotel and received a complementary breakfast. Endless choices- we had a mixed American and Asian breakfast (eggs, bacon, baguette, rice, noodles, soup and dim sum!). Again, everything fresh and not buffet. We also had a late lunch there before we had to check out. The meal was scrumptious!
Because our flight was not until the afternoon, they allowed us a late check out with no charge.
If you only have one night and your flight is in the afternoon, choose this boutique hotel. You can visit the Royal Palace, come back for a nice swim at the pool after being in the heat and be relaxed for your next journey. Such a lovely hotel.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, big clean pool, great breakfast... Got a free 30 min massage by booking at their website as well. One thing that's weird: nespresso machines in room but they charge you $1 a pod if you use them... seems like a price guage that's inconsistent with the generosity of the rest of the experience. A minor thing - I'd return in a minute.

Our part of four stayed 3 nights at the White Mansion Hotel. The hotel came recommended by expat friends and we were happy to be staying at a more comfortable, well appointed and more expensive hotel given this was our first trip to Phnom Penh. We were upgraded on arrival so enjoyed spacious, airy, tastefully decorated suites (one including the main balcony) with open mini bar etc. The artwork (Em Riem) in the hotel, large public areas and stairways added to the vibe. Staff were very helpful throughout our stay, esp. booking restaurants and sorting out a car trio to Siem Reap. And yes, we lazed around the pool a bit after doing several miles on foot around the city. Worth the price if you are looking to ease your way into this city and Cambodia generally.

A truly memorable stay at White Mansion, the old US Ambassador's residence.
Were greeted by friendly staff with cold towels and passionfruit juice and an upgrade from a junior suite to the full suite.
The suite was massive with two double beds, a massive bathroom with two separate rooms for shower and toilet as well as his and hers sinks.
There are refillable bottles provided and a filtered water station downstairs to prevent plastic wastage.
A La Carte Breakfast provided in the cafe downstairs, I enjoyed the American breakfast with bacon and proper pork sausage twice. (rather than the chicken Frankfurts so often served at Asian Breakfasts)
Lovely pool area with a super refreshing pool which was excellent to cool down in after a long day touristing.
So easy to get around Phnom Penh, whether by foot or by the excellent Tuk Tuks ordered via Grab or Tada Apps.

We stayed here for 2 nights as we wanted to visit the killing fields and s21 before moving on to Siem reap .We arrived on my birthday and were given an upgrade to a lovely and very large suite. The hotel is lovely in a faded grandeur sort of way and the staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is served in the bakery at the front of the hotel and had a nice but small selection of choices plus very nice lattes or other coffees. As it was our first time in Phnom Penh we were nervous about travelling on our own (we had prebooked trips to killing fields and prison) so downloaded the grab app to order tuk tuks where we knew in advance how much we would be charged and there was no confusion with language barriers about where we wanted to go. This is an excellent app especially in a place as busy as phnom phen.we visited the central market, riverside and silver pagoda. Although not pretty we had a great time in the city and found it very safe. I very much recommend the white mansion which really is a little oasis of calm in a manic city.

Dear Valued Guest, We appreciated your review of your stay in our Historical building, White Mansion, former Residence of the American Embassy in Phnom Penh. Thank you very much for taking some of your precious time to write it. Your comments about our Team being very friendly and extremely helpful are the most important to my eyes. We are all very lucky to work all together everyday, we love it and we want to share it with you, all of you! Thank you also for the compliment for our Le Café du Boulanger. As you said: all fresh and tasty! For a larger meal, all the best restaurants of Phnom Penh are waiting for you within 5 min by tuktuk, while some of them are within walking distance. So easy and convenient! I hope to see you again soon in White Mansion. Warm regards, Mrs Sokha Meu General manager White Mansion Legend

At $110 for a "junior suite", this was way overpriced. The bed was very hard and the room was hardly a "suite". It seemed like we were paying for its five (yes, five) double wardrobes. The balcony overlooking the pool is shared and has no furniture on it. There is also no phone in the room to order room service. We were supposed to use WhatsApp. Breakfast was nice and the options were good, but the food service here was generally very slow, most especially around the pool. The pool is a nice length and an easy depth and a good temperature, but whoever chose the tiles made a very bad decision. They are extremely slippery when wet, which made entering the pool and walking around it extremely hazardous. We also didn't enjoy the chain-smoking day visitors playing loud music on their portable Bluetooth speaker. They did turn the music down eventually, but we felt the staff should have stepped up and asked them to switch it off. It kind of took the shine off the afternoon.
All in all, a bit disappointing and more than just a rip-off. We've "staycationed" in many of Phnom Penh's hotels in this price range and can confidently say that this one is grossly overpriced. Choose your room category carefully.

Excellent location situation at a slightly upscale street with close proximity to eateries and walking distance to the Independent Monument, BKK area and Riverside. The breakfast served was good and Le Cafe had wide variety of F&B easily available throughout the day. Hotel employees were very friendly and courteous and the housekeeping was carried out professionally, and we were very satisfied with the clean room, bedding etc. Definitely would recommend travellers who are looking for a relaxed and quiet boutique Hotel, away from the hustle and bustle and noise. We made a great decision staying here and will definitely return.

As with most good quality hotels, White Mansion allows late checkouts if you are prepared to pay. There is also a room where you can leave your luggage securely.
We had a suite which was large enough for our family (2 adults and an 11 year old). Not sure if there are specific family rooms but the staff are wonderful and would do everything to accommodate you I'm sure
