The hostel is nice and cozy with friendly staff and in a good location. There is one very strange rule that I think people need to be aware of before booking the dorm room... The air con is only turned on at night if there are more than 3 people staying in there. The second night I stayed there it was...

As I have been living in Cambodia for over 3 years now, I find myself every month a couple of times at the bar of Mini Banana. They serve ice cold, cheap beers, a range of good cocktails and shooters and they do good food as well. The owner is one of the nicest people in Phnom Penh, full of...

I stayed here on the express orders of a friend of mine, because he said I'd meet cool people if I did. He wasn't wrong. I literally met 10 or 15 expats in the time I was here. The bar has a really nice garden feel with its own official bar cat Pumpkin. They do their own Kampot Pepper infused...

I spent several afternoons enjoying the beautiful setting of the Mini-Banana's relaxed bar setting. With available wi-fi I was also able to get some good work done. This also became a central meeting place for several of us to get together before going out to explore the city. It was also a great place to come back to and have...

My friend and I arrived to Phnom Penh not knowing what to expect. We were sent to the mini Banana and did not regretted it at all! The dorm in comfy and the staff is there for you (all of them speak in English, a little bit of fluently). Yes, the bar is noisy at night and therefor don't go...

Staff were lovely and the drinks were delicious we stopped in here for a drink on our way back to our hotel and were not disappointed. The staff friendly and the ambience was very chilled and relaxed. Worth a visit if you are nearby.

The room is small, but really fair for the price. You got everything you need around you, supermarket is not far, also food from all over the world. It's walking distance to the Royal Palace (20 min). The owners are extremely friendly and open, speak a lot of languages (perfect in english, french) - you will feel at home immediately....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In a genuine Khmer neighborhood, in a free-from-traffic-sounds back alley just behind the busy nightlife of Street 278, lies Mini Banana Guesthouse. With its jungle-layback look we create a nice hide away guesthouse with bar and restaurant for the backpackers. With the local Khmer and expats dropping in at night-time we offer you a real Khmer experience with a travellers edge. With the completely renovated A/C dorm, and 7 private rooms (A/C or Fan), we provide accommodation for every taste and budget. We can help you with your visa and other services, and can provide you with information about the many things to do in Pnom Penh. With our new kitchen we can provide you day and night with the taste's of East and West from our new menu. During the day, a chillout vibe rules the guesthouse, engage in chess, watch a movie, read a book in the many lounge area's, and share idea's with the many backpackers. At night the vibe transforms in an energetic atmosphere, the bar lights up, the locals drop in, the pool table attracts its guests, and with the right amount of people we might even get the poker chips out. ... more   less

“myabe the private rooms the most far away from the bar.... but even that. the place is so small that you will hear loud music and people, everywhere you stayed. The dorm is an open door, but you have lockers inside. Almost no light, but some fans working. Hot at night.”
