As part of my staycation at some luxury hotels in Phnom Penh, I decided to give Sofitel a try. I stayed for 1 night in the hotel’s luxury room, which comes with a balcony, and very much enjoyed the flawless service that I received from staff (e.g. Solomon and Xin Joe Khor at reception; Kimley at breakfast; So Sony and Phanna Lean at Do Forni). I very much appreciated the hotel’s tailored service by giving me complimentary mosquito repellent and hand sanitizer in light of my needs, as well the options for late check-out and for where I could have my complimentary breakfast if I wanted to keep a good distance from others as part of COVID-19 preventative measures. Fortunately, the business lounge (or what used to be the Chocolate shop), where breakfast is being served during the COVID-19 period, was not very busy when I went. I’m also grateful to Chef Valentino for preparing my custom designed vegetarian dinner to take away upon check-out before Do Forni opened. I enjoyed the greenery outside the business lounge whilst I ate a great western breakfast that included fresh carrot juice, waffles, and pancakes. I also enjoyed the views from Room 1106, as well as sitting in their large lobby (which fortunately at the time had no lingering smell of cigarette smoke in the air, which can come from the bar next to the lobby). Hopefully the hotel will be renovating its dated rooms soon. I can’t say I found appealing the orange floor tiles in the bathroom and the rough fabric on the sofa and lounge chair. But, for 1 night, it was fine.…
We had a fantastic Saturday brunch in the seafood restaurant there. It was comparable in price to what we have been used to in Saigon, and everything about it was fabulous. The service was impeccable and the staff very friendly, the food was of excellent quality and the range crossed all areas - from Canadian lobster through sushi, sea bass and roast lamb, culminating in a range of cheeses and desserts with coffee. The house free flow wine - both varieties - was god quality. We will definitely return while we remain in Phnom Penh.
During this challenging time for Cambodia and the world, my wife and I wanted to take a break from work etc but its so difficult to travel now so we decided that rather than leave Phnom Penh we could have a short holiday in the city. The Sofitel was the perfect choice as our experience was really 5 star from start to finish. Excellent staff, amazing attention to detail and a great escape from every day pressures. The best hotel experience in Cambodia for both of us. The staff make it feel like home and listening to the piano whilst drinking cocktails in the afternoon was so much fun. A wonderful experience in the best hotel in Cambodia.
