The Ohana Phnom Penh Palace Hotel is in a great location only metres from the River front. The staff at the hotel are very nice but the hotel could do with some money spending on it, although it is clean it is looking a little tired. The breakfast which is served at the roof top restaurant was very acceptable. The swimming pool is located on the ground floor and looks as if it as just been refurbished so it is very nice to go for a swim in the heat of the day.

I only spent one night here (sadly) but had an incredible experience. My friend hurt his foot and the night reception was kind enough to bring up a big bag of ice as all the stores had closed. We also had an issue opening our safe up in the morning and a technician came by within 10 minutes. There is also an ATM located in the lobby for convenience. What really set this hotel apart for me were the spectacular pools. The rooftop, where breakfast is held and with views of both the river and the city, also has a hot tub and a cold tub. We watched the sunset from the pools. There is another, larger pool on the first floor which was cool and wonderfully landscaped. The WiFi was excellent as was the air conditioning, and the room was spotless.

I wish I would have taken pictures before we checked out of the hotel, but the pictures online are not the type of room we stayed in. We had a dated room with a balcony overlooking the street. We stayed two nights and contemplated paying for a nicer hotel. The beds are extra firm and the wifi is atrocious in the room. Breakfast was also medicore. On the plus side it's a great location close to the river, the Royal Palace, and the night market. There is also a fabulous laundry facility across from the hotel (Arina) that does reasonable priced laundry. The staff were nice, the two pools were also nice. If I were reviewing this hotel in USA, it would be a 2 star, but considering the area and pools, I'll give it a 3. Oh and bring lots of small USD cash to get around. Tuk tuks are readily available for transportation.

Dear beckyd1982, many thanks for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay at the Ohana Phnom Penh Palace Hotel, your feedback is very much appreciated. Regarding the ‘pictures online’ which you felt were not representative of the room you stayed in, if would be helpful if you could explain which online pictures you are referring to. We believe that the room images on our own website, http://www.ohanahotelpp.com, are a true reflection of what our guests receive. Of course we have limited control over images that other people may post online and claim to be the Ohana Phnom Penh Palace Hotel. In addition, we have 2 major room types, our Deluxe standard rooms and our Residence superior rooms, thus if you booked a Deluxe room and from online images you were expecting it to look like the higher standard Residence rooms, then yes, there certainly is a difference. However, once again, the room images on our own website make this distinction clear. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the location of the hotel and found the staff to be ‘nice’, and we wish you all the best for your onward travels.

This is a well-located hotel, about 50 metres from the river and close to the bar district. The rooms are stylish and the roof-top breakfast buffet presents a good selection, with eggs cooked to order. I would have graded this higher, but the wifi is absolutely useless in the rooms. In my room which had a balcony, the wifi never worked (and nor did it work in the room of a friend I was travelling with) and it worked only intermittently on the roof-top. The only area I found it worked reasonably well was in the lobby area. While I know it can be difficult to provide wifi in solid buildings such as this one, wifi is a must-have for hotels these days and it is not acceptable for it not to be working reliably in the room.

Dear MoreTravel278, many thanks for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay at the Ohana Phnom Penh Palace Hotel, your feedback is very much appreciated, and we are delighted to see that generally you enjoyed your stay with us. As for the WiFi issues you experienced, generally guests are satisfied with the level of WiFi we provide, and I use WiFi throughout the Hotel on a daily basis on various devices, with limited issues. We have 4 to 5 Access Points per floor and 2 on the rooftop which generally overcomes the issue of signal strength loss through solid structures. However, there are times when the WiFi is not as good as it should be and there can be various reasons for this, some within our control and some not. You explain that the WiFi worked in the Lobby but not in other areas of the Hotel. It is possible that your connection problems were caused by a 'roaming' issue. If a guest first connects to the WiFi in the Lobby and then, for example, goes to the 5th Floor, although a device should automatically seek out the strongest signal and automatically connect to the nearest Access Point, sometimes devices get 'stuck' on a particular Access Point, thus the further away from the Access Point the weaker the signal and the poorer the WiFi experience. Manually disconnecting and reconnecting usually solves this issue. I thank you for bringing this issue to my attention and I will definitely look into it to see if there are any software / hardware issues which we need to correct. It would also be very useful if you could provide the room numbers of both yourself and your friend so I can look more closely at these 2 rooms. In the meantime we wish you all the best for your onward travels.
