Our experience in the Ohana Palace was excellent.

Our room on the 6th floor was a good size, modern, big hard bed (we like a hard mattress) and a large, walk-in shower with rain head.

The hotel has an idyllic rooftop terrace perfect for an evening drink and breakfast ... with views of the river and a hot and a cold jacuzzi.

There is also a nice pool area and a great choice of foods at breakfast.

Only downside for us was that the key card for the room had to be reactivated each day.

However, our friends who were staying in rooms on the second floor had a very different experience reporting mouldy shower curtains etc - so check the room you're booking!

Bad start when reception was unable to give $14 change and wanted us to use our credit card (really pushed credit cards) to pay for the rooms. Between us we managed to give exact money, very odd for such a large hotel. The hotel is well maintained, we had three rooms with two on the 6th floor. Avoid room 619 as the noise from the terrace above (6 am setting up for breakfast, then a roaring sound later which we believe is the jacuzzi kicking in) means you won't need an alarm. Our daughter was around the corner and it was fine. The room was otherwise very comfortable. The rooftop sunsets, excellent breakfasts and pools were great, the ground floor swimming pool was also very nice but as usual the seating was inadequate - a common theme. Staff were very pleasant and attentive.

Dear PamCanuck251Preston, many thanks for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay at the Ohana Phnom Penh Palace Hotel, your feedback is very much appreciated. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your time with us and found the Ohana to have a 'good location, excellent rooftop terrace and pools', as well as 'pleasant and attentive' staff. Regarding not being able to provide you $14 change, this was an unusual occurrence and we apologise for the inconvenience. The reason we were short of change during that time was due to it being Chinese New Year thus the local 'money changers' were closed and it was after the banks had closed also. Wishing you all the very best for your onward travels.

We had a nice room on the renovated floor 6, it was modern with a glass walled shower room looking into the bedroom. Bed was comfy but weirdly it rolled on wheels and we could not lock the wheels!

Floor 7 had the part shaded restaurant, terrace and two small pools with amazing views over the museums towards the Palace and river bank. From the terrace you can see both sun rise and sun set. The food was good and good selection of drinks.

Reception staff were OK, not the warmest but staff upstairs were very very friendly with us as a family.

Hotel is in an excellent spot, close to all the main tourist attractions. Would recommend

Currently staying here and could not regret it more! Should be 0 stars. We've arrived after over 12 hours of travelling and our shower is freezing cold - there's no hot water. Wasted 2 hours of our night while the maintenance man looked at the problem, and now we've come back 3 hours later and it's still not resolved. They will not move us to a different room and are refusing to refund our payment so we can book accommodation elsewhere. All staff are claiming they cannot change our room or even confirm if we'll be refunded without their Director's approval, but he cannot be contacted until 9:30am tomorrow. We need to leave at 9am for our prearranged activities so this is not helpful at all, and we won't be returning until the director is gone after 4pm. Hot water for a shower is essential for any hotel... it's like giving us a room with dirty sheets; its expected that the room will be functional and clean as advertised. I'll now have to file a chargeback with my bank to escalate the matter. Absolutely do not book here - spend a bit more for a quality hotel.

Dear Carly, many thanks for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay at the Ohana Phnom Penh Palace Hotel, your feedback is very much appreciated. We are sorry to hear that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. It is true that for a couple of days recently we had issues with our centralised hot water system. After discovering that the hot water was not working, (after you reported it to us - thank you), our in-house Maintenance team discovered it was not an issue they were approved to fix, thus specialist external contractors were called in to solve the problem. The specialist external contractors informed us that the issue was a faulty expansion value which necessitated the turning off of the water heater system for safety reasons. The specialist contractors did not have the required replacement expansion value in stock thus they had to order it, further adding to the delay. We always strive to offer our guests the best level of service we can, which is reflected in the high scores we receive on various independent guest review sites, however unfortunately from time to time any mechanical equipment can have unexpected technical issues, and we sincerely apologise for the lack of hot water that you experienced. Regarding moving you to another room, the Front Desk staff did not refuse to move you to another room, they politely explained that the hot water problem was a hotel wide issue thus moving you to another room would not solve the problem. As for a refund, there are certain protocols that have to be followed to approve a refund, and we apologise if this was not done promptly enough for you. However, before you checked-out, in terms of an apology and as a goodwill gesture, we offered you a reduced room rate and a discount from you in-house food and beverage bill, which you accepted. Thus it can be seen that the title of your review, 'Cold shower - refused to move rooms, refund or offer any resolution at all', is factually very misleading... We trust you enjoyed other aspects of the Ohana which guests frequently praise and rate highly, such as the rooftop plunge pools, the complimentary buffet breakfast, the panoramic city and river views and the convenient location, and that the hot water issue did not detract too much from your overall time in Phnom Penh. Finally we wish you all the very best for your onward travels.

After a few weeks of roughing it in some pretty remote areas, the Ohana was welcomed comfort. From the minute the doorman welcomed me until I left, everything was perfect. My room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the bedding quite luxurious. The bath is modern with all amenities, including big fluffy towels. Even bathrobes and slippers! The pool is wonderfully refreshing after a day of sightseeing. Drinks and food may be ordered poolside. The breakfast buffet has everything you could possibly want. Tuk tuks are directly outside, just remember to negotiate your fare. The location is ideal for walking to the Royal Palace, the Central and Night Markets and lots of bars and restaurants.

Excellent location by the nice walkway along the riverside.
Very small place in for parking cars at the entrance, guides/drivers had problems.
Very nice roof terrace with small pool and restaurant. Beautiful view to the river and to a temple with the royal castle in the background.
Breakfast and other food medium+. Fresh ham in the early morning, frozen ham if you eat later. Cheese only in plastic.
Rooms: Medium. Very hard bed, low sleeping quality. Safe extremely small. Very small place for your clothes and stuff, very few hangers. We stayed there twice, the first room had a very old and dirty / not delicate shower curtain.
Staff friendly and polite.

The hotel is very conveniently located along the river, just a short walk from many of the top sights in Phnom Penh. The interior is decorated to look like an oasis within the city, with beautiful pools on the ground floor and rooftop.

However, there are a few issues that are hard to overlook. The wifi has been spotty and super slow. The "hot tub" on the ground floor wasn't heated. The bottled water refill station on the ground floor isn't actually bottled water but is refilled from a (filter) tap. Our bathroom doorknob and lock was completely broken.

Would I stay again? Maybe. But there are lots of other options in the near vicinity that I'll look into next time.

Stayed here twice this year.

4 star but one extra for the free water refilling station

Pros:
Good location near Riverside
Two pools (one very small but on rooftop)
Gym was in good condition
Staff was great
Rooms were clean
Water refilling station is a really nice touch and help reduce plastic waste

Cons:
Rooms and especially bathrooms are a bit dated
Breakfast used to be a lot better. Now, except for the egg station, it is a sad affair with poor and cheap selection, and inadequate refilling (there's hardly anything left after 9am). Coffee is terrible but there's espresso you can buy. I stayed 7 nights in total and didn't bother with breakfast after 2 days preferring to pay at other establishments.

Air condition working very well, hot water also doing fine room was precious, all clean and staff are all attentive. Roof top restaurant is very fabulous and variety of foods. I do like their noodle soup, selection of coffee, tea pot but for me coffee was not delicious guess you pay extra to get brew from coffee machine. Location is very good and surrounding by many restaurants and bars.

Had low level expectations yet left disappointed. I can see how some have enjoyed this place but I am not satisfied with my stay and will not recommend.
Would describe as a higher end budget place at best.
The booking process was cumbersome with direct communications showing quite a higher rate but some booking sites providing better deals but misrepresenting room quality. All over the place.
Some larger groups appear to use this hotel as the guests congregate in numbers and are known to each other. Would guess this place has upside of 80 rooms.
The location presents “mixed” feelings. Close to many bars, restaurants and a nice riverside walk. Far enough away to provide respite but any issues that sit with this benefit.
Very very close to and old style wet market with early morning noise and some foul aromas. The thin curtains, old style glass windows and balcony doors offer little protection. Endless street noise from motor bikes and just day to day shouting by locals. Subsides somewhat at night but resumes very early in the morning. Some rooms are actually adjoining the markets. Further there roosters crows and also “call to prayer” bells by nearby Monks. Rock hard bed. Had far from a good nights sleep.
My room was small and sparsely furnished which requires “living out of your suitcase” which is annoying beyond a quick overnight stay.
Staff are friendly and pleasant but once you have an issue it’s like everyone dives for cover and this was disappointing. Almost like your speaking to a different person, gone are the language skills displayed earlier and those pleasant smiles.
Good luck with the wi fi.
Did t use the pool facilities due to weather and my schedule nor rooftop bar as many other similar options nearby.
Overall present well from initial look but is a dated/tired establishment that is poorly maintained. Pity, could otherwise be really nice.
