my wife myself an 2kids had booked to stay here for 3 nights. we bused from Vietnam to Phnom Penh it took 7 hours that was the best part of the day. we arrived to find the owner very drunk, My kids where very worried to say the lest with the way he was acting. We decided to move hotels because it was nothing like it looked on agoda..I went down to tell him that we are moving hotels, it wasn't clean it smelt like stale alcohol smoke and Currie, there was no safe lock and the Windows did not lock. When I went down stairs to sort all this out the owner got in my face an was threatening me with some Cambodia gang, I just wanted out and my family be safe. so glad my wife an kids where not in the room an not with me at the time of conflict..it was not a good place at all an glad we got another hotel asap, to top it off it was cheaper, alot more cleaner an even had breakfast Included. . Cyclone hotel and pub was scummy I wouldn't stay here if my life depended on it. Being in a foreign country with my children and have this man act the way he was was out of control, shouldn't be a business owner... he has this place listed under 3 different names so be aware very aware..…
The photos shown on Agoda don’t bear the slightest resemblance to what you find at the hotel. The rooms are in a state of advanced decay; depressing and extremely distressing. There’s a TV there but no antenna, so it’s nothing more than an ornament. And a single plug socket that is halfway out of the wall. Thick layers of dust cover the walls and ceiling, which look like the rooms haven’t been cleaned in months. Quite simply put, the hotel is unfit for habitation, its so run down and filthy. Everything is falling apart, i don’t think it’s had any maintenance since the day it was built. The staff are a red flag too, every time I came back to the hotel, the non-English speaking staff had to fetch someone to ask me what I wanted, even though I’d already checked in. This happened several times over 2 days. And every time I handed the key in at reception to go out, they asked me if I was checking out and then ran to get someone to ask me. If I asked them anything, their reaction was either a primeval grunt or to burst out laughing in my face. The lock on my room was so flimsy that it could be pushed opened without a key; I was so concerned about the security I stayed in the room most of the time, and if I did go out I took my valuable with me. I read some past TripAdvisor reviews and a few of them mention having valuables stolen from their rooms, so that only added to my anxieties. Power cuts are frequent there, some lasted for 2-3 hours. The bathroom was filthy and emanated the overpowering stench of excrement from the toilet 24 hours a day. The smell was unbearable, and made it difficult to sleep. I felt like I was staying in a slum, easily the worst hotel I have ever stopped in; and I have stopped at hundreds. I would not stop there again if you paid me. …
I treated the staff very well, good tips, fed them and offered cold drinks. Several sketchy types walking around my room at night, when I asked the front desk who these people were, they replied security personal. I was travelling alone and If I did not stand up to these "people" around my room at night, I believe I would have been robbed. Instead I would grab a apple and go out side and eat it with a huge knife, when the strangers walking around my room seen this, they dis appeared. Several things stolen from my room, but at this point, I left the hotel. A police report is a waste of time in Cambodia. I did not take a vacation to guard my room and stare down criminals to be left alone. I'm a big guy in good shape, if you are not, I would stay away from this hotel.
Good clean room ,all the things you need, air con and fans, king size bed and single bed, mini fridge ,cabletv,wi fi,nice bathroom etc. All within walking distance to the Mekong river and attractions in downtown Phnom Penh. Stayed for a few nights before travelling onwards for $25 US a night. Stayed a bit longer on my 2nd visit and negotiated the price to $20 a night . Cyclo closes fairly early at night time so if you are out late at night youll have to knock loudly on the front door to wake up " security" to let you in and out .
This was the first place we stayed at in Phnom Penh. It is a quaint hotel. The rooms were decently sized and the rooms and bathrooms were well looked after. There was no water in the jacuzzi which was a disappointment, but hopefully it is not permanently like this.
