Nothing bad, nothing special either. The rooms are OK, the lady at the reception was very kind. The place is a bit fit tight, the standard room's window looked the wall of the next building, the pool is very small and the bathroom is a bit worn out.

Property's Favorite Review
We stayed here on arrival into Phnom Penh for two nights, then again two weeks later for another two nights. Its a great boutique hotel with very friendly and efficient staff. Tony the Australian owner is pretty easy going and knows the lay of the land well as he has been a long time resident. The rooms are what we would call minimalist feel, but are exactly what we look for in a hotel. Good size rooms and clean and comfortable. Sure you can find cheaper rooms elsewhere, but they lack the ambience of this place. Special mention goes to Pah, the inhouse Concierge/Tuk Tuk driver/security guard. He looked after us well and made sure we got where we had to go. He also took us for a day trip to see the S21 prison and the killing fields, always ready for a chat and a friendly smile. The location is quite central and very peaceful with a great swimming pool and only a 10-15 minute walk to the river front, and other attractions. There is a small alley next to the hotel called 240-1/2 street, some awesome local street art can be found here along with a collection of local artisan style shops. There are some funky artworks scattered around the hotel, which really adds to the overall feeling. We loved our time here and will stay again for sure when we next visit Phnomh Penh.

I stayed three nights in total at Villa Grange, two nights after my visit to Siem Reap and one night on my return to Phnom Penn. The hotel is well situated behind the Royal Palace and very close to the river so although I did not arrive till late afternoon, I still had time to visit the Royal Palace just around the corner before it closed. The National Museum is also very close. The hotel is in a quiet street but further along the street are piles of rubbish – this though is Cambodia! I had booked a queen room advertised as single use with view of pool unfortunately when I arrived, I was given a different room at the back of the hotel which although it had a balcony the balcony was a narrow strip facing other buildings with no balcony chairs or such – not a place to sit and relax. The room also smelt of cigarettes! After I complained I was moved to the room I booked the next day and they also made sure I got that room when I returned a week or so later. The queen room (which had a double bed so not sure why it was advertised for single use) overlooking the pool I think was the best room in the hotel, it was nicely decorated with a large furnished balcony overlooking the pool. I am a single older woman so after my evening meal I like to sit on my balcony and read so I loved this room. There is however a pleasant courtyard garden round the pool where one can sit and have a meal or just relax with a drink. The pool is small with a few sun beds but a necessity for cooling off after a day sightseeing There are no hairdryers in the rooms but if you need one the Reception will give you one to use during your stay. I ate at the hotel; the menu is though is not Khmer. I had a goat’s cheese salad which was very nice at 5$ but there was steak on the menu that was 13$ which I think was a bit steep for Cambodia if you are a meat eater. There are however plenty of other restaurants near by. The hotel also organised a pick up from the hotel to the Giant Ibis bus station which is free and although the pick up was before breakfast normally started I was able to have breakfast before leaving as the kitchen staff were already there. After my initial problem with the room was sorted I found the staff and the owner, a Australian, very helpful and friendly and they also helped my find a place where I could hire a bike which was not that far away and cheap about 2$ a day. Be careful though there was another bike hire place that was much more expensive at 12$ a day – I guess the bikes must have been newer! The hotel also has its own tuk tuk driver who is friendly and speaks good English though who will take you to see various sites and wait for you to bring you back.. There are tuk tuk s also outside the hotel but not all of them speak much English so if Pah is available he is a good option. I would have scored excellent if it had not been for the problem of my first night and the smelly room - the staff though did spray the room with airfreshner after I complained.

Great location and a lovely pool/bar area to relax. Breakfast was fresh, good quality and well presented. We had lunch one day which was delicious and very well priced. The staff who we encountered were all delightful. The pool was popular with local expats and their children on weekends which made for a lively afternoon by the pool, but it didn't affect our enjoyment. Room was simple but clean and the bed was comfy. Air con was fantastically effective and the wifi strong. Ground floor room potentially not the quietest option, but we were only there for a few nights so it didn't really matter to us. Would definitely return.

Villa Grange is a great boutique hotel in the best part of Phnom Penh. Tony, the Australian owner is an absolute gent and really looked after us. The rooms come in different types depending on budget but they guaranteed to be clean and spacious and beautifully decorated. You won’t see the usual stuff that you see in Cambodia like loose wires, broken tiles etc because the place is maintained immaculately and Tony has the skills. It’s also a secure facility so you can relax around the pool and don’t need to worry about wallets, phones etc. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. The food is also top notch (western & local), including the breakfast. I’ve stayed twice, both times for two nights, with no issues. Will be back again.
