I chose this hotel as it was in the centre of town and walking distance to many attractions. The hotel was okay, but not great. The staff were helpful. The room was ordinary, and very dim (the bathroom was very very dark). Breakfast was okay, but not comparable to other buffets in Borneo. Netflix didn’t work. I felt that it was not good value for money.
The hotel is fine in itself for Bandar but they are terrible with their booking management. Twice this year I'm trying to book... only to receive an email later asking me to cancel because they don't have availability! I won't bother anymore..
Stayed here for a short business trip. The receptionist are so helpful and give a lot of advice of what to find nearby. The location is also very strategic and near to most of my favorite restaurant (kaizen sushi and escapade). The hotel's breakfast is nice too with a lot of variety consider its a small hotel. Room is nice and clean. Overall is a good hotel to stay.
Based on my recent experience and opinion. The Brunei Hotel deserves five stars due to its locations and the friendliness of the personnel. The tourist attractions are within the vicinity, as well as shopping opportunities. The room consists of a wooden floor, clean linen, television, free wifi, refrigerator, coffee/tea, and a kettle; also, refilled water. The bathroom was nice and clean. Fairly to say, the room wasn't huge, we have a twin room, it was adequate. Above all, it was super clean! Always the first thing I did when entering the room, check everywhere if there's no dust or stain on the linen. The personnel was helpful and friendly. As our flight was later at night, we leave our luggage for the whole day for free. And a lady at the reception offered us an umbrella because it was raining. How to get here from the airport: The cheapest way is the green color bus number 23 for 1 BND (0.65 cents euro) per person. When exiting from the arrival terminal go left till the end, the bus stops are in front of the departure terminal. Beware, it can take a while before the bus comes. The second option, the hotel has an airport shuttle for 20 BDN (16 euro) for two people. Taxi cost around 25 BND.…
Location, Location, Location! This was the first hotel in Brunei and you cannot have a better location for catching a water taxi for $1 across the street to go to the water village or to the Temburong Jetty to go to Temburong National Park by boat. It’s also 2 blocks from the Tamu Kianggeh outdoor produce, food and craft market. Plenty of restaurants and coffee shops in different directions to try are at its doorstep. I enjoyed being in the city center, just a block from the Chinese Temple which survived World War II and just a little further is the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, and a block from the waterfront. I loved the little coy pond in the lobby. Found the restaurant elegant with plenty of Western, Asian and Bruneian options for breakfast, I understand they are about to remodel it. Staff was polite, professional and helpful with all of my requests. From the top deck there is a nice view of the waterfront and the water village and waterway alongside the hotel. Nice sleek modern feel throughout. Clean. Netflix options I appreciated as the previous hotel I stayed at only had 7 channels. I would return.…
Rooms here are small and dark if you are on the wrong side of the hotel, so maybe better for business travelers. Ask for river view which is brighter. Cleaning of rooms needs looking at by the manager, all a bit slap dash, dirty shower, toilet and dusty floors. The one! pillow on the super hard bed was revolting and sweat stained, so not a good nights sleep. Plug on kettle very dangerous. Free parking is on road, you have to pay and claim back from hotel. No wifi except in lobby! All in all not worth $70 (without breakfast ) Wish I'd booked the longhouse on the river, I will next time. Some staff friendly and helpful others not so much, no manager when asked for.
This is a downtown hotel, although the town is quite small with only 200,000. The size of the room is ok while the phone is not working. Internet is also very slow although available. In Brunei, the pace of life is slow. Neither the phone nor the internet is needed. The hotel is very clean just like everywhere in Brunei. But the mall closest to the hotel is very small. The Mall which is the largest one, is a bit far. So is the biggest mosque of Brunei. Your package is very expensive if bought in the hotel. We found an individual at a fraction of the cost. His name is Mel (+6738161656). Very knowledgeable person with enthusiasm towards guests. His picture is attached. Also, please reserve hotel car for airport transportation in advance. The hotel car is cheaper and better than taxi. There is a river in front of the hotel with water taxi running. …
I stayed in a "superior room" with a double bed for 3 nights in early November 2019. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was neat and clean, it was a bit small, I was travelling solo and just had my backpack so it was enough space for me but if you are a couple or have a lot of luggage you might struggle. There are no drawers to unpack your clothes into but there is a cloth/closet rack to hang clothes. AC worked perfectly and easy to control. TV is Netflix ready but you need to have a Netflix account. Wifi is free but drops-out/disconnects often, I ended up buying a tourist sim card from DST which was useful when I was out exploring. Breakfast is okay, its buffet style, they have an omelette station, most cooked food is Bruneian/Malaysian(laksa, noodles etc), they have cereal and toast, no espresso machine, a small selection of fruit(jackfruit, watermelon and guava), some pastries and juice. Quoted me B$20 for a shuttle to the airport, ended up using Dart(Brunei Uber), which cost me B$10.50. Dart(Uber) to the night market from the hotel was B$5.50. Hotel is well located and within walking distance of the main attractions of Brunei(mosque, tourist information centre, waterfront and you can walk over the bridge behind the mosque to get to the edge of the water village), there was a street market on around the corner when I arrived(sunday morning). There are plenty of places to eat, convenience stores and a shopping mall all within 5 minutes walk. There are a couple of tour agencies in the building next door(freme on the 4th floor and brunei tourisim on the 1st).…
This is a good hotel with friendly helpful staff members, and the food is quite good. The bed was comfortable but the lighting was poor, making it very difficult to read in the room. It’s close to most of the parts of Bandar Seri Begawan you might want to visit. Unfortunately our trip to Ulu Temburong Park was cancelled at short notice by the operator and we couldn’t find anyone else willing to take us and we’d pretty much seen and done BSB by then. It’s a really really hot and steamy place so we spent most of our last day catching up on Netflix!
Booked the Executive Double Room. Spacious and comfortable than the superior room which I stayed previously. If you are a smoker, there's a hideaway smoking corner next to the cafe. Easy access to town and Kampong Ayer attraction.
