If you want to savour both old and new in Baku then we recommend a couple of nights at the Sultan Inn Boutique. Fantastic views over the old town towards Maiden Tower from the rooftop terrace. The rooms are large and comfortable and we had one with shutters that looked out over the steps down to the square at the back. Although we arrived very early on an overnight flight from Budapest they accommodated us immediately. The cafe below the hotel in the Meydan, Enoteca Meyda, is a great place to while away an afternoon.
Location is the best; overlooking Maiden Tower in old city, walking distance to almost all attractions. Rooms excellent, lots of space and bath looks like new. Friendly staff (their English is basic), Nice breakfast. All for decent price.
I loved this place. I like the dark wood paneling in the rooms, which are really comfortable, with plenty of closet space. The restaurant and bar on the roof is a really nice place to have a drink and look over the Caspian Sea, with a great view of The Boulevard and the Flame Towers,
Stayed here for 4 nights. Located on the edge of the old town which is ideal to explore the city. Rooms were clean, decent size, and well maintained. Breakfast taken at roof level which gives a great view over the city and sea. (Beware you have to climb a number of stairs to get up there and there does not appear to be a lift.). Staff very helpful. A taxi from the airport to the hotel costs 25 manat’s and takes about 20 minutes
We chose the Sultan Inn, which was not included in our tour, and paid the extra money believing it was a luxury hotel and it is very well located, close to the Maiden Tower. The building is very nice, the rooms very spacious with a sitting area, Just be aware with is no elevator. There are steps to enter the reception area from the street and the restaurant is on the fourth floor. We did not expect the hotel desperately needing updating. The menus are very worn out and the towels! I'm including pictures. No words. When we showed the towels to the employee at the front desk, he didn't quite understand what was wrong, So what if a few holes, you can still dry yourselves! It was not a bad experience, but do not expect it to be up to a Sultan to live there.
