Compact size but clean rooms. Sufficient for a short stay as one would be out exploring most of the day. What is outstanding would be the people who runs this small hotel. They are service orientated and friendly especially Mr. Elmin who will try his best to assist you.

On rooms alone I would have rated this hotel a 2 but the staff were very nice and very helpful. Our room was a double in which they had added a mattress on the floor and made it a triple so barely room to put our bags and no room between the beds. The bathroom was cramped and the shower...

I stayed here as part of a fantastic 6 week Overland journey from Bishkek to Tbilisi and this was by far the weakest hotel of the trip, which is not to say it was all bad: The rooms were warm, the hot water worked and breakfast was included. The rooms are small and have double mattress beds that did not...

Individual room with aircon, tv, wifi, desk and private toilet. Room was clean and well kept in general, maybe some paint needed in one corner in the ceiling but nothing important as atmosphere was good and room confortable and cozy. Small bathroom style with a shower, hot water working well, and facilities well kept and working. Wifi was powerful in...

We were welcomed by a very nice older man (no English, but very sweet and willing to help) who showed us the room and the way out of the labyrinth of the old city. We had room nr 4 with balcony, double bed, airco and a clean bathroom. Tasty breakfast was included. And there was a piano! The younger staff...

I stayed at the Altstadt Hotel for three nights in June 2014, and was extremely satisfied. Different TA members understandably look for different things on holiday - this is a 2-star hotel, with 2-star prices and 2-star facilities. It is not a luxury hotel! As I'm used to 2-star hotels, I would say it is a "good" 2-star. The rooms...

I stayed at the Altstadt Hotel for four nights last month upon the recommendation of another TA member. The hotel provides visa support which is essential in applying for a tourist visa to Azerbaijan. Mr. Elmin was fast in replying to my e-mail inquiries and flexible in changing the dates of my reservation. The location of the hotel inside the...

I visited this hotel on my last trip to Baku. I found the price was really high for what I got and had I known better I could have had a better idea. The people working at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful (apart from the overnight staff). They were really helpful in learning my way around. Staying in...

Hotel Alstadt sounds German but it is a simple Azeri guesthouse, however in the small dining area you can find some german football memories from the early 2000s. The hotel itself has an exellent location behind the walls of the Old City and walking distance from anything Baku can offer for travellers. The rooms are well used and need refurbishment...

Friendly staff, clean room, great location. Baku is unbelievably expesive.......same price as Paris for worse quality in many cases...... So at least here location is good and price acceptable for this city. Taxi to airport is good and reasonable price for Baku

“The rooms at the second floor are preferred over those at the Ground Floor but you need to climb a flight of stairs since there is no elevator.”

“If possible choose a room upstairs. The ground floor rooms hear everything that happens in the lobby (if you can call it that), noise from passers-by on the street, and gets little privacy in general.”
