I stayed for two nights as part of an Exodus cycling holiday. This was a non-cycling time along the route and was a complete contrast to the modern hotels we had been staying in along the route. Accommodation was a tropical bungalow. Quite basic but perfectly adequate and suited the tropical island get away vibe very well. The bar and restaurant were a short walk along the beach and a great place to have a drink and watch the sun go down. There is a walk around the island and a map was provided but it was not very well way marked. Bar staff were friendly but the restaurant staff did not really engage much and did have a tendency to want to clear your plate immediately you had finished the last mouthful ! This was a little off putting.

Very nice and remote/isolated place. First 3 days we were almost the only guest on the island/resort, we found out the season was about to end (diving ends in september)...we were not informed about that when we booked trip and diving. Did some diving both by boat and local in the bay. Very nice to see what the island do for the corals and the environment. We helped clean up the beach and the water. The beach is very clean, but if you go to either the left or right you find beaches full of plastic. Looks like it is coming from the nearby fish farms - staff do not have time to clean them? With some LEAN thinking it could be cleaned very fast. Could also ask tourists to bring the green bags when walking around the island - a lot could be done rather than just saying "we do not have time". Very good food by the way Only little thing, not related to the resort. The boats from the fish farms sails passed the resort from approx 4 am to 9pm and they are very loud.

We stayed as part of an organised trip with Exodus holidays. The rooms are sparse but have everything you need. The food and bars were really good. From the resort you can go snorkelling or just walk round the island.

A wonderful place for relaxation! I spent with my friends here for 3 nights. The beaches - the sea creatures - the hill just behind the resorts, the foods...everything here was so good. Best place ever, will come back .

We stayed three nights here and were actually very curious (and a bit anxious), mainly because of the mixed reviews on Trip advisor. But we were actually were positively surprised: the location is beautiful, the swim (and snorkling) is great, the huts are basic but beautiful (we really liked ours), it is clean, the food is good and people are friendly. Every morning it was a pleasure to wake up 🏝😊. Just a couple of things I would like to comment on: - Lunch and dinner has been too much for us. This is not just something that happened here, but almost everywhere in Vietnam. With the heat, our (European) stomachs do not have an apetite for a huge meal. Now food has been wasted, which we find a pity. Why not serve people a little less first, and tell that if they want more that that is always possible? It would then maybe also be possible to give people a choice of what to eat (and what not)? There were others families that also had a lot of leftovers - Staff could sometimes be a bit more engaged. They are friendly, but maybe the language (some hardly speak any English) throws a barrier. That is a pity as we felt that the ones who could talk a bit of English were more engaged. We also felt they could be a bit more service minded, which would boost the sales of drinks (etc) as well 😉. - The beds were, for our spoiled European backs, a little hard. We slept good though, no proplem. Our kids said I should not comment on this as they thought the beds were perfect 😉 That is all. There is lots to do, if you want! You can get a book from a little library, rent some scuba (snorkling) gear, go on a scuba trip, get diving lessons, rent a catamaran, swim, relax, contribute to the cleaning, etc. In general, I thought it is painful to see the amount of plastic in the waters of Vietnam, everywhere (including Halong Bay, etc). So also here. The way the staff of Whale Island (Eco) Resort is dealing with this though, is really fantastic!! They should do this everywhere in Vietnam. If so, there would be no massive amounts of plastics floating around like it does now....everywhere...
