We stayed 2 nights in Hue at the end of February at the very beginning of Covid -19. Vietnam had shut the border with China so our small tour group from Canada was particularly welcome. The hotel was centrally located, staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were on the small side but vvery clean. What was particularly memorable, however, was the wonderful boutique selling, of all things beautiful items from Kashmir--shawls, scarves, jewellery and small carpets. The owner, a young charming Kashmiri explained that since the political situation in Kashmir was dire he had ventured far afield to set up shop in Vietnam I hope his business will be able to survive the pandemic. His merchandise was reasonably pricrd and as exquisite as similar items I had seen in Shriniga rin Kashmir and in Delhi on another trip.

The hotel is very central and the staff are lovely and couldn't be more helpful but the images of the hotel must have been taken when it first opened ..a long time ago . The hotel is very tired and needs refreshing . The pool area is tiny and not one that i would use . The spa area look modern in the images but it isn't however to be fair i did get a really good massage there. We didn't eat dinner there but there are great restaurants round the corner (try Hanh Restaurant set menu for a taste of the local food )

We had a really great time in Hue and Cherish hotel made it even better and pleasant because it is very nice hotel in the centre. There are restaurants and bars nearby. The room was nice, well equipped and nicely decorated. The bathroom was clean and nice with additional toiletries. The staff was nice, helpful , very professional . We were offered a welcome drink as we arrived. The breakfast was great with lots of varieties of food, mixing Vietnamese and European dishes. The breakfast was buffet and even the quail eggs were served. The restaurant is on the top so you have a nice view onto the city. There is a swimming pools as well. It is quite small, we did not use it but it is there if you opt to swim. The Cherish was a great choice so I would recommend it for sure.

Even though our plans for our first trip to Hue and Vietnam were dramatically altered because of the onset of Covid-19, the Cherish hotel was a perfect place to stay at this time. Located within walking distance of many places to eat (some already closed) or drink coffee (bars also closed), it felt safe being here. The staff did everything to make our stay enjoyable. In particular, “A” at the front desk went above and beyond what I could expect from another staffer and did everything with a smile (that radiated through the required mask). He helped us to arrange a tour with private guide and driver that was a perfect day of seeing sights on the outskirts of town such as the tombs of 3 different kings. And when the restaurant we chose was still closed, he recommended a great place for traditional food emphasizing Hue cuisine that was both tasty and very reasonably priced. And finally as we had booked the overnight train to Hanoi, he arranged for us to have a convenient place to shower and change into clean clothes after an afternoon touring the Citadel and Forbidden City. When I come back to see Vietnam after the health crisis is over, I will definitely come back to this lovely hotel. Thanks again “A”
