Detailed Reviews
How can I even begin to explain how amazing Indochine Palace is, and we traveled all over the world.
The Indochine Palace Hué takes high quality, a French colonial style, a service and attention to service and detail to a level that makes you want to lift your own game. The exclusivity and high level service reminds you that you are probably staying and dining amongst the rich and famous, simply the best hotel in Vietnam.
It understands elegance and service at the highest level. For us the classic decor, which exudes timeless like in a Parisian Palace, is a huge part of its appeal. Lovers of the modern or quirky may not enjoy the staggering beauty and workmanship that is poured into every fiber of this hotel.
However, the view onto the beautiful swimming pool was exquisite. It was splendid in every way. The subtleties that build a room into something resplendent were all there. The fabrics and furniture was sumptuous but not cloying or overdone. One of the things I adored at the Indochine Palace is we were treated beautifully.
We stayed in too many expensive hotels where the bottom line and parsimony on the part of the hotel made us lowly guests feel unappreciated and foolish.
As expected, the housekeeping and the laundry service were utterly impeccable. Housekeeping to me is often an under-rated quality when hotels are reviewed. Keeping the rooms gleaming, the crisp, delicious linens and sumptuous pillows are delights that materially add to the experience.
We have enjoyed a plethora of croissants, pain au chocolat, baguette and other French viennoiserie like if you were in Paris, as the quality is actually the same. Thank you for having great recipes.
Every room service order was « parfait »...nothing amiss or cold. We have enjoyed delicious cocktails in the lounge listening the live classic music band performing.
Each encounter with reception and the concierge was pleasant and professional and kind.
We felt especially very well looked after and from all the staff and the manager.
This visit to the Indochine Palace was an indulgent present we gave ourselves for no particular reason..
The bonus, of course, was spending 2 nights in Hue city - an unsurpassable feast for the eyes where The Indochine Palace is a central to that unique experience.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and was very happy. The rooms are lovely and large with great views of the city. We also used the outdoor pool which was ideal and they supplied towels which was handy.
The breakfast was very good with a great selection of local food and western options.
The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the main area of Hue but this wasn’t a problem for us.
The reason I didn’t give 5 star on this review is because whilst using the pool I did feel like we was been watched by a couple of members of staff. I know they want to be attentive but actually just stood nearby watching was uncomfortable.

Indochine Palace is a wonderful hotel with warm, welcoming service and exceptionally comfy beds. Loved the glass elevator that looks out over the huge swimming pool. The location is about about a 12-minute walk from the main area with all the restaurants and shops. It's also next door to Big C, so if you need to stock up on snacks or water, that's easy. Would highly recommend this hotel!

Stayed for 2 nights in late December.
The hotel has an imposing silhouette & you instantly feel that you are arriving somewhere special.
Check-in was one floor up from where you arrive, but was seamless & the staff very helpful & professional.
Our room was a suite, with a large sitting area. The bed was large & comfortable & the bathroom facilities excellent , in particular the deep marble-surround bathtub.
There were 2 small balconies which offered a chance of some fresh air
The staff in all areas were professional, polite & helpful. I'm sorry I can't recall his name right now, but the young Concierge was fantastic, a great credit to the hotel.
Breakfast was large & varied & we had dinner one night in the same restaurant. This was the only area I wasn't entirely happy. The food was very good, but the restaurant was not busy at all. The waitress stood about 10 paces away & pounced as soon as it looked like we had read the menu. That was ok, but to pounce again as soon as my wife picked up the last spring roll starter & started trying to clear the plates while we were still eating showed a lack of training. The other courses were much the same - in the waitress's apparent eagerness to have something to do, we felt rushed & uncomfortable. If we had been staying longer we wouldn't have eaten their again & would probably have raised this with management. But a little training will ensure others don't experience this, I hope.
The hotel pool is outdoors & impressive, but was on the cold side during our visit & appeared to be totally unused. A wasted opportunity.
But these quibbles shouldn't detract from what was a very comfortable stay in a quire grand hotel. ( I can barely believe it was ever a Best Western, with no offence to that brand)
Would absolutely recommend for a pleasant stay in a very good location.

On arrival we were given an upgrade of our room which was a fantastic gesture.
Check in was quick and guided to our room very quickly.
The room itself was gorgeous. Large bed, with TV, Minibar, Desk. The bathroom was spacious and in the bedroom with sliding partitions which was effective and decorative. There was no bath, but a separate shower cubicle. Like most hotels, it had complimentary water, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo etc.
Breakfast was beautiful and spectacular with plenty of choice in a relaxing dining room. Quality of food and drink was well above expectation.
The pool was large, with plenty of sun loungers and chairs around for every body, even in high season.
The spa area was separate for male and female, with a steam and sauna room. There was a jacuzzi, which unfortunately was empty, this was the only issue we had found with the hotel.
The location is perfect, with it only being 15 minutes walk to the nearby local eating places.

During several weeks of travel throughout Vietnam, we stayed at many hotels. Indochine Palace was the best. Our room was large and immaculate, and very comfortable, and it had a nice view of the sunset over Hue. The bountiful breakfast buffet was an adventure in Vietnamese cuisine (and included European/American dishes for those who might not be so adventuresome).
The staff were very attentive to all of our desires. Tam (Christine) was especially helpful; she knows the area well, and gave us many excellent suggestions of places to visit. She also arranged for local transportation for us--everything from a motorcycle to a boat on the Perfume River. By the end of our stay at the Indochine, we felt we had gained a great new friend.

The Indochine Palace is palatial when you arrive … the exterior, lobby, reception area and bar.
The location was not convenient to the tourist area bars, restaurants and shops.
The guest rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The Wi-Fi connection, especially in the guest rooms was spotty and substandard.
While the hotel was grand with amenities on paper, it was somewhat disappointing to find the jacuzzi closed, the huge outdoor pool was frigid and not heated and you had to schedule a visit to the sauna so it could be warmed up. An outdoor pool in north-central Vietnam should be heated for the comfort of guests. There were rats wandering the pool area in the evening from the back alley. Yuck! There were areas of the hotel leading to the pool and sauna that were not lit in the evening. Not inviting, comfortable nor safe for guests … management needs to find other ways to reduce costs.
The buffet breakfast offered a variety of dishes. However, the coffee was cold and the worst we tasted during our 18 days in Vietnam.
There were very few guests staying at this huge hotel. It was weirdly uncomfortable with no one around.

Our stay at Indochine in January was a very pleasant experience. Their Guest Relations staff, in particular, Christine, was most attentive to our requests and even anticipates our needs. The hotel has a breakfast buffet that provides a wide variety of food. We ate outside the hotel at Les Jardins de la Carambole restaurant and we highly recommend it for French- Viet fusion food.
Viet fusion cuisine, with relaxing atmosphere.

This is a very nice hotel that looks and feels luxurious. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The breakfast is very good with a large assortment of items to meet everyone’s taste.
The room we had was very spacious and had a nice view of the pool.
We did find the room design a bit odd though. There is a glass wall that separates the toilet and the shower. The toilet door didn’t completely close and there was no latch do the door.
The sink is outside in the open. What is odd is that there is no mirror by the sink. There are 2 wall size mirrors in the wall but no direct lights for someone to put on makeup or shave. While this all looks spectacular it seems less practice.
The wifi was intermittent and not always available.

Depends on the room booked. If it is deluxe, studio, suite 1 or 2 bedroom, President suite... But I think all the deluxe rooms are pretty much the same layout. They are running a promotion until the end of September for a free room upgrade as available. Check their website. You can also call or email them, they are usually very prompt to reply.

New York City, New York25 contributions26 helpful votesHow far is it to Hue airport and to Hoi An?
Hue Airport isn’t actually in Hue it’s about 20km from the city. That being said there are taxis that will take you for less than $10USD (about 200,000VND) if you book ahead of time most upscale hotels like the Indochine have a shuttle bus or private car to pick you up.
