After arriving from a 3 day trip of Siem Reap in Cambodia, we picked up a trip booked by our trip operator Trailfinders, through Intrepid, a 15 day tour of Vietnam. We arrived late in the evening at the hotel, our itinerary said we would meet up with our fellow travelers and maybe have a drink together to break the ice and have breakfast the morning after, at the KOTO Restaurant but as I said we were late arriving and the tour leader decided it was better to have evening dinner at KOTO rather than the breakfast, so we missed out on that. The tour guide, a lovely Vietnamese guy called Quang, came back to our hotel after their evening meal, to advise us on the do’s and don’ts. One of the good things he pointed out to us was a great craft beer bar, just round the corner from the hotel, BiaCraft Artisan Ales Q3, apparently there are three of these beer bars in Ho Chi Minh, hence the Q3. Great beer and selection of fast food. We had an extensive if not a sumptuous breakfast the next morning at the hotel, we had to pack our cases and vacate the room, our main cases stayed at the hotel, for our return there after our 1st leg of the tour to The Mekong Delta so we left Ho Chi Minh with just small overnight bags. Lovely big coach to pick us up, I say big because there were only 7 people on the tour, so we could spread out easily on a 52 seater.

Our rooms were excellent with good beds, nice linens, etc. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The staff were very accommodating, even helping us arrange an outside laundry service. The downside is that the location is lousy. It wasn't easy to walk anywhere and there wasn't very much to walk to in the immediate vicinity. Our kids weren't yet accustomed to walking in Vietnam (scooters!) so this was pretty harrowing for us.

We stayed at this hotel before and after our Intrepid tour before transferring into a closer one within walking distance of the city. The hotel was clean, modern and has a great swimming pool. It is within walking distance of the War Remnants Museum. There is a good Pizza place down the street as you head into the city. There is much traffic going buy, but I think that is the same for anywhere in HCMC. The staff are friendly and very helpful and provide excellent service. The only down point is that it is far out of the city, which costs $6 to reach. Although cheap taxi fare, the issue is the dodgy taxi drivers who will try and rip you off! We took one that we thought was Vinasun and we ended up paying double the price and he refused to pull into the hotel kerb. The staff did warn us about this and also to keep a tight handle on your handbags and phones as there are no road rules and the motorbikes wizz up on the footpath before you know it.

Slightly north of the centre of the city this hotel is fine for a short trip. The bedroom was a good size but had no cupboard shelf space or drawers with just a very small cupboard and shelf under the window. Strange decision to have such a huge bed (with tiny pillows!)and then not leave room for storage (there was a small bedside table on just one side of the bed The en-suite was nice but extremely small and cramped (couldn't possibly fit two people in and difficult to open the door when inside. Again, the en-suite had no shelf space. Annoyingly the WiFi has to be logged into each day even with auto reconnect enabled. This hotel could be improved greatly by reducing the bed size, adding storage and improving the WiFi.

I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a tour with Intrepid, so hotel was chosen by our Tour Leader. It’s located on a busy street, but there is minimal street noise from the rooms. Nice big room, hard but comfortable bed, big bathroom. The breakfast was a good mix of Asian & Western, nice bread and coffee. Location is a bit far out, but easy enough to get a taxi or Grab in to District 1. There is pool and a bar on the ground floor at the front of the hotel and a coffee/cocktail van, which was pretty cool. There is also a convenience store across the road, which is handy to buy bottled water, snacks etc. Nice enough hotel, but I would prefer to be in District 1 if I returned to HCMC.
