I booked this hostel because I wanted to stay in a really nice place before I go home. Unfortunately this was not my experience. On booking the cover photo for the property shows a deal for August-October. Free welcome drink, late check out and a free beer first night. This sounded good and the rooms looked nice so I booked a 4 bed dorm for 180k a night. On arrival I was told this deal is only of you stay in the double room. Not specified at all on booking.com. very misleading and dishonest advertising. Next I was placed in a 6 bed dorm, on a spare 7th bed which was extremely uncomfortable and I didn't get much of a sleep. Not at all what I booked. I asked to change beds that night but they were fully booked. The next day I asked them to move beds for me which they did. Same room, still 6 bed. I told them I don't expect to pay full price for the first night and I wasn't happy. Receptionists said they'll tell the manager and I can pay everything on check out. On checking out, I was told they spoke to the manager and I still have to pay full price. I said I'm not happy with this at all and they gave me a measly 20k dong off the room. Less than 1 euro discount. Extremely unhappy with the manager of the property and if you're looking for a nice place with a nice owner (whom I never got to speak to), stay clear of this place. Receptionist was friendly and helpful to be fair to him but he couldn't help me in this case.

It's a very good place after a busy night on Bui Vien area. But it's a bit inconvenient when I booked 3 dorm beds for me and 2 other male friends, then it turned out that those beds were paid by cash on the day I arrived (I paid via my credit card already). I never experienced the over-booked experience like that before. The owner switched us to a double room which was a bit better than sharing the dorm with other people but the ventilation in that room was terrible.

Thu, the lady who is in the reception upon arrival is very accomodating. She has the smile and glow in her face that welcomes every visitor who will stay at new saigon2. We stayed at the new saigon hostel 2 for 2 days and 1 night and it was amazing. Location is at the heart of the city which is easy for taxi, market, and nearby tourist spot. It was an amazing stay and surely will book in this hotel when i get back...😊👍

For the price point, given a booking.com discount it was a great private room in the backpackers area. Bed was standard comfort for Vietnam, bathroom was nice. They helped me book bus tickets to Cambodia with minimal mark up. Don’t stay here expecting any atmosphere though. My main complaints are they did not provide soap in the bathroom, they refused to refill our water bottles from the jugs and insisted we go buy water next door (are you serious!?) and it constantly smelled like cigarette smoke from the night guard/people smoking with the doors open. It wafted up all the way into the building. Final complaint is the doorbell/process for entering at night. Hearing the bell go off constantly was obnoxious especially when we had key cards to let us in the outer door. They also tried to put us into one of the other properties when we checked in until I insisted that I wanted the room that I booked. Tbh tho I don’t think that would’ve mattered in terms of where we stayed.
