Great value for money in comparison to other nearby hotels. It was basic with no window/balcony however it was a good base to explore central Ho Chi Minh. In a way the lack of window was a bonus as it meant a very peaceful nights sleep without any external noise. The room was spacious and clean with a good shower and loads of space/storage. All of the staff were helpful especially the breakfast man who just never stopped smiling - am so sorry didn't get his name. Reception staff were a great help too in arranging trips/ taxis etc. Lovely self service breakfast with good choice. Good advice on local bars/restaurants which were way better value than the main, overpriced, tourist bar streets.

This fairly new hotel is ideally placed close to Ben Thanh markets in the heart of SaiGon. I was given a discount rate for the 7 day stay by booking direct with the hotel. The staff is friendly, helpful and speak reasonable English. The somewhat small, windowless room was very clean with a king bed, desk, unpadded chair and ample wardrobe. The separate bathroom is cosy but functional. There’s good water pressure and the layout is practical. A simple breakfast is provided free with good variety of Vietnamese and Western food. I was a little puzzled at the provision in the room of the electric kettle, teapot cups and saucers – but no tea or coffee and, while bathroom toiletries are provided, there are no tissues. Now the negatives. In typical Asian style, the walls of the rooms are paper thin and you can clearly hear the guests in adjoining rooms, their television, toilet flushing and shower. During the day, the teachers in the school next door can be heard inside the room and in the corridor. Inconsiderate guests arriving after dinner at night are a serious noise intrusion. One night it sounded like the guests above me were re-arranging the furniture in their room. Silicone earplugs are definitely needed. Another problem is that there is nowhere to put your bags. The only place is in front of the door – not good if there’s a fire in the night. A series of wires are hanging down from the rear of the TV set – a big temptation for little hands. I noticed it’s a similar situation in other rooms. To conclude, the Thanh Hai has many good points, but the noise issues mean I won’t be returning.

Clean and simple rooms at this hotel. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and they made very good recommendations. The location is amazing; only a 3min walk to the Ben Tanh market, and even closer to the street food market. Great coffee at Trung Nguyen is also nearby. A/C in rooms was great. The only problem was that the mattress was too hard.
