Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
My wife and I have been staying here for the past 18 months and I guess a review is now in urgent order.
We have been living here in HCMC for the past 5 years out of which 18 months have been spent here at the Riverside Serviced Apartments. Location of the property is awesome, right on the river and close to the main thoroughfare of Thao Dien. Not close enough for most of us to walk unfortunately, but nonetheless a mere 8 minute bike ride away, or a short taxi ride costing no more than 35,000VND. It is located approximately 20 minutes (traffic dependent, cost approximately 250,000 VND) from the tourist area of Dong Khoi, and a regular free bus is available for tenants. Else, there is also a boat taxi (free) that drops off adjacent to the tourist areas.
The property itself is termed "gated", there is only one road entrance and entrants are closely monitored. The second entrance is via the boat pier, one that is solely used by the twice daily river taxi provided by Riverside, and again a permanent security guard stationed here 24-7.
The property itself is well maintained, the apartments serviced 6 days a week, and are regularly refreshed. There is a cafe and a mini supermarket on site and they both open long hours. The Blu Restaurant had a fairly extensive menu of both Western and Local cuisine, is located at the water's edge and pricing is reasonable. Topping it off there is also a Spa within the grounds.
There is also a serviced or self-service laundrette that one could use.
Recreation wise, the development offers a fully equipped gym (sort of fully equipped), 2 tennis courts, jogging path around the grounds and a reasonable sized swimming pool. These facilities are generally clean and well-maintained.
The downside.........Of late, casual visitors and their children to the Blu Restaurant have also been using the swimming pool, making use of the property somewhat like a PICNIC GROUND. Consequently, we have rowdy kids diving randomly into the swimming pool at various points, and this is an accident waiting to happen, even though numerous complaints have been made, no action seems to have been taken. Also, if you need to sleep in on a Sunday morning, avoid the apartments facing the pool, tennis courts or the playground as screaming kids and the incessant bouncing of tennis balls will wake you up at the break of dawn.
Overall, a very pleasant stay but I wished they'd act faster on complaints.

Regarding the downside, you are right the swimming pool is a place where there are more activities, more than in the garden for example, but the level of noise remains low as we have pool guards and security staff patrol who monitor as well this type of matter. In this feedback, you also mention about some people, costumers of the restaurant, who use the swimming pool. It should not be like this, if it happened we are sorry about it, we are going to work closely with the staff of the Blu and the pool guards to avoid this situation at any time. Riverside is truly the best place to stay if you have children. The amenities are amazing: pool, restaurant, spa, laundry facilities, coffee shop, small grocery store, and plenty of green space. There are always taxis waiting that can take you to the various parts of HCMC. The internet was pretty quick and we were very impressed with the customer service. We requested a room change when placed in a building close to construction. They were prompt and courteous and found us another location that better suited our needs. The apartments are well appointed and very spacious. The beds have the usual firmness expected when in Asia but we still slept fairly well.
All in all, you won't be disappointed while staying at Riverside. It was really hard to leave!

We stayed at Riverside for about five days. I really liked that they had housekeeping and gave you water bottles each day. The beds where nice and they had air conditioning. The restaurant Costal, near by the apartments, was good. It was a close walk to the grocery store. There is a pool, a laundry room, and a mini grocery store near the apartment.

We booked this through booking.com at the price of $450 and on arrival the owner said we had to pay $550 as we needed to pay a $100 deposit which we thought was a bit expensive but reluctantly paid. However half way through our stay they cancelled our booking on booking.com so we couldn’t see the details and claim that we hadn’t stayed at the apartment. Then upon check-out when we asked to get our deposit back but they claimed $550 was the original price and they never asked for a deposit. We showed proof that the original price was 11,600,000 VND which is equivalent to $460 and they then showed us a completely false rate which we were never quoted when booking through booking.com.

There are different managing agents at this property and it is a lottery which one you get. Sadly, we had one of the poorer ones who run a little scam. where they change the building on arrival. We turned up after booking weeks in advance and was told our room was unavailable due to a fault but they had another room in a building across the road. They then took us under a busy flyover to another hotel, the millennium apartments, which looks modern but the reviews are justifiably poor - cheep, uncomfortable beds and bedding. Watch out for this scam.

Third visit and just as good as the first. Disappointing that the restaurant wasn't open but we made good for food elsewhere. Staff were very attentive, room was a two bedroom apartment which was lovely and clean along with daily cleaning and free water.
Loved the laundry, it meant we returned home with clean clothes and not a load of washing...loved the lady who took our clothes, paid 250,000 dong and the job was done, awesome.
All in all a great vacation once again and we will be back...keep up the great work Riverside. Oh forgot mention, massage was awesome and realistically priced.

We stayed there in march 2020. And it was really a surprise for us. We had the charm of a 4 to 5 star hotel combined with a "being at home" feeling. Everything ist perfect. Stuff is friendly, garden beautiful, restaurant and coffeeshop very good. And the view upon the Saigon-River ist so great. And we love D2; it is an nice area with excellent restaurants and very safe. Only minus: There was a big hole in the middle of the built-in closet in the bedroom. I think, this is the space for the TV. And yes... they check very carefully if there is something missing at the end. But they were really great and allowed us to stay till 2 pm because of our afternoon flight. So we could go swimming before. Thanks to the management. We'll come definetly back,

I stayed here from 22~24 of sept. (Room no. Block 5-1B). The first day night, dangerous Gas from kotchen was leaking continuously and my wife could not breathe well. So, I locked Gas bottle and called hotel manager the next day. He just said sorry. That was all he did. The most terrible thing was I paid late check out charge even my brother paid already for staying until the next day. I did not know it so, I paid late check out charge. But, when I met my brother, I realized that something wrong. All room facilities were very old.

I was accommodated at the Riverside Apartments (not to confuse with Riverside Hotel) for 3 nights between 16 - 19 March 2014. The accommodation place consists of a large number of 2 storey buildings, each containing fully equipped apartments, with bedroom, a large living, kitchen , bathroom and a small terrace or balcony, overlooking the garden. I had a ground floor apartment, so could exist from my terrace directly into the large garden. The location is right on the banks of the Saigon River, in district 2. The hotel has a pier and a shuttle boat for easy access to the city center(about 15 min). All necessary utilities are in the apartment, as they are designated also for long term stay , for large families with kid. Many expats or other foreign people working in Saigon are living here. The hotel has a good restaurant offering tasty and rich breakfast, and you can as well have your dinner right on the banks of the river. Cleanness is the main principle of this place not a single drop of dust was in the apartment when i checked in. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and at the front desk they speak good English. Different trips can be organized directly there. For kids, large playing ground are provided. A swimming pool with long chairs is located behind the restaurant. The whole place is full of green, flowers, coconut trees. Fresh air and silence surround you in this place as there is no traffic noise. I made 2 days a Mekong tour and visited for only half a day Saigon, but you feel completely relaxed when returning home - yes indeed it is like a home or even better . Actually I think this place is the only accommodation place in whole Saigon I would return with greatest pleasure, should my path lead me again to this great city, with its crazy traffic. As I considered everything a superlative (even the price of 100 USD/per night / where ever in other places you will find such a large, tasteful arranged apartment on the riverbanks, in such a lovely surrounding with this price?). The Riverside apartment in Ho Chi Minh is therefor highly recommended, being the best place to get accommodated n Saigon.

Our work placed us at Riverside in order to get settled in HCMC and to look for a house to live – it has been over 3 years since then and we have never left. Riverside is an incredible place to live; only a stone throw from the Saigon River, a 15 minute (free) boat ride or taxi into town and has a little store, coffee shop, pool, playground and dog run. It has an amazing sense of community and has been an extremely easy place to raise both a puppy and baby. The facilities are well kept and the staff are the most helpful and friendly you will meet in Vietnam. Riverside is always willing to make minor changes to your unit to make your family more comfortable from painting, fixing, cleaning couches, to even changing lightbulbs. We have had a number of friends and family visit who finding renting their own apartment next to us the perfect arrangement and we have also hosted BBQs with the Riverside tent and equipment while they were here. Pierre, the manager, is very visible and approachable and is always willing to take suggestions on board. Last year my husband forgot his passport in a taxi and within hours, Riverside staff had tracked the taxi he used from the airport from the security cameras, found his phone number, went to the airport and picked up his passport. We feel beyond safe staying here as security bikes around the premises often. Personally, we couldn’t be happier with what Riverside has to offer and living here– it is certainly worth visiting!

Hello,
Riverside Serviced Apartments is pet friendly for our short term and long term residents. Our guests who come for one, or just some nights are not allowed to bring pets inside the compound. ( what ever is the size of the pet).
To summarize we are pet friendly but selective.

Recommend half day trip to cuchi tunnels and tour company can pick up at Riverside and bring you there by boat. Also my kids enjoyed the 3D art gallery
