The employees of Little Hanoi are very helpful with everything. Specially the guy at the front desk. We needed to go to a hospital. He translate to Vietnamese in a paper the medical problem, and call an taxi for us immediately. You feel like in...More
Good: STAFF were friendly and helpful, room was a decent size. Clean. Bathroom facilities good. Wifi good. Bed comfortavle (as comfortable as Vietnamese beds can get).

Great location in the old town. Very friendly staff. We stayed in a suite (more of a large room) but it was well worth the tariff. The hotel restaurant has a really good choice of food and is reasonable.

I was told on arrival "you're very lucky as your room has a window". Unfortunately the room was on the 5th floor and no elevator meant a lot of steps. Breakfast was OK; basic stuff. The main character on reception was your classic 'wheeler dealer';...More

I've spent New Years in Hanoi and had the exact same schedule as you. I stayed in little Hanoi diamond which is very close to most of the points of interest and very affordable. Just the standard rooms are very noisy because they stay on the same ground as the kitchen, so I would avoid picking these rooms.
We took one of the Galaxy Cruises with 12 cabines, and most of them include pick and drop off facility. They are not very expensive given that you book in advance.
As I wanted to keep my luggage in the hotel, I payed for the overnight stay at little Hanoi to ensure I would have a room on my return from Halong Bay. But they could also keep my luggage in storage room if I wish.
Hope it helped !
Enjoy Halong bay! It's definitely a sightseeing trip with the most amazing view of Hanoi
