It’s strange to write a review for a quarantine but I am forced to do because of amazing service and experience. After an excruciating wait at the airport of more than 5 hours. My family was efficiently checked in to a comfortable room. The food was awesome for 7 days plus they also had option for Indian food which was great. Limited interaction with staff but they were most helpful. If you are flying back to vietnam and have to quarantine in Hanoi then this is the best option.
After a 10 months absence from Vietnam time came around and I made my return on a very auspicious day. On Christmas Day in the radle of heritage of Vietnam –Hanoi! The feelings were mixed Joy , Curiosity, Anticipation ! The customs procedures were very efficient and the preparation to be escorted for quarantine detailed from the PPE we had to put on and the pleasant company of the Health staff escorting on board the car to the hotel quarantine. A fuss free check in within minutes took place from a separate entrance and not the main entrance and all social distancing procedures were in place as I entered alone in the lift and went straight to my room. The hotel has a long story to tell since its establishment in 1926. An Art Deco building Hanoi is known for that has endured the passing of times and changed some of its original characteristics; mind you as the hotel is exclusively for quarantine travellers had to also do some modifications in its lay out and use of space. The fact that the hotel has a story to tell makes it “special” as the high ornate ceilings and full length windows in the room bring the nostalgia of the bygone era. Some rooms open up to an enclosed courtyard and the white of the neighboring walls reflect the brightness of the daylight. Weather has been absolutely magnificent over the festive season. 3 meals were catered daily breakfast lunch and dinner bento style using disposable cutlery and packing and lunch and dinner rotated nicely providing variety and nutrition. When cravings did arise for something special there was no effort spared to satisfy it by the amazingly accommodating front line staff who were on call 24/7 to check our wellbeing and respond graciously to any request. Always patient tried to fulfill any request to match some dietary requirements. What has amazed me is that there has not been any face to face interaction and this attention and care was always there. Tone of the voice always uplifting but not intruding. Some technical issues were troubled shoot efficiently. As mobility is confined from chair to chair I was given two 3kg dumbbells to warm up those inactive muscles. It helped. Being in quarantine for the first time and over the entire Festive Season Xmas and New Year’s is definitely an experience. As I wanted to bring some festive mood in the room I thought to order/buy some flowers and I left the choice to the staff. I received a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses freshly cut moist on their leaves from the nearby markets. Yellow symbolizes friendship welcome back and care and it is not a coincidence that the color was chosen by the Vietnamese intuition so carefully to truly make me happy! On New Year’s Eve dinner was special with a delicious cake by Madame Huong bakery Hanoi’s leading choice. Even though could not see the impressive fireworks Hanoi city staged I could hear the burst and even the cheer of people who went out to celebrate the arrival of 2021. Well done and thank you to everyone at the Hoa Binh hotel Hanoi . You the people with your devoted care made the difference!…
I came to hanoi in November and had to quarantine in Hoa binh hotel. Before booking for this place had so many thoughts about how the room is gonna be. But once I entered, was really surprised to see the room big enough with a balcony and all the basic items for 14 days stay. Since I’m Indian they offered me Indian food when ever I required. I know it’s difficult for the staff and the customer to communicate with the language or what kind of food we need or how difficult it is to stay for 14 days inside a room. But it was only a matter time till Ms Nguyen Hong Thuy helped me throughout my stay. She helped me deciding my breakfast, lunch and dinner and specially cooked vegan food for me from chef. She even personally delivered coffee from nearby shops. I have hardly seen such staff help so personally anywhere else. Really lovely staff ever met till date. And she made my quarantine stay so easy. Really appreciate their hard work and dedication in treating each customer nicely in this pandemic time, through out the day they are just a call/msg away. They leave their family and come and work so that customers are safe and can finish their quarantine as early as possible. And I hardly knew about the cold weather in hanoi can be bad in December she even offered help to get me sweaters from nearby shops. But I refused since it’s working hours for her and it would be not a good gesture too. But on the last day I couldn meet her since she had a day off to rest. The chef was really nice person though couldn meet him personally. I had a good vegan food and customised everyday. And some days he used to send some cakes as a sweet gesture. Thanks for that too. Overall It’s difficult to stay inside a room for 14 days, but with such staff personally helping made my stay very easy and homely. Really thanks to Nguyen Hong Thuy and the other staff too for everything. Would definitely recommend this hotel for stay. :) ❤️❤️❤️…
Well located in a three cornered junction if I am not mistaken. Very spacious rooms. Might have been the residence of a French national.Very clean. Good Breakfast. A welcome relief from the horrid stay in Saigon The furniture in the room was antique. The management has made every effort to maintain it in that manner I presume. Any alteration would take away the vibes of the architecture. Overall a very good stay and a very good hotel. Can recommend without any hesitation to families. .
Nice old building from French colony times. Sadly it is not well maintained and very dirty. The rooms have old furniture and the bathroom was also quite old and dirty. Our room hot water is not working. The location was good with comfortable walking distance to the lake and a short cab ride to the Old Quarter.
Hotel is in a good location – about a 10 min walk from the hanoi lake. Hotel is established in 1926. Very well maintained property & well decorated. Reception staff very helpful. We felt comfortable walking around the area both day and night. Restaurant service is good, Food is yummy and delicious. Natural light is very less inside the room; you fill darkness in day time also. Feelings like you are stay in Historical place.
This hotel was probably grand, 60 or so years ago. The staff are unhelpful, and do not go out of their way to assist guests (unsure what they are like with Vietnamese guests but they certainly weren’t helpful to us as foreign guests). The decor in the rooms is dated, my room featured a set of double doors out onto a balcony- there was a 2/3cm gap when the doors were closed meaning the noise of the traffic/street was audible 24/7. The air con systems are very old and loud. The bathroom had mould around the edge of the tiles and was in desperate need of re-grouting, the bath itself was stained and a dirty grey colour. The bed sheets had marks on them and were damp. The room smelt badly of cigarettes the first night I stayed in it. Many of the doors to the rooms had warped so badly that there were large gaps and they did not close completely, adding to the noise from the corridor. Breakfast claimed to be open 6-9:30am but on our last morning when we had to check out of the hotel early, I went down to breakfast at 6:05am to find hardly any food out...I’m pretty sure the boiled eggs that were out had been cooked the day before and left in a warmer, they certainly did not taste fresh. Unfortunately, other hotels in the local vicinity were fully booked so we were unable to move to another hotel on the first night. We were also unable to change rooms as apparently the hotel was fully booked. The whole place is in need of serious renovation. …
Stayed here as part of an Intrepid tour. Hotel is in a good location – about a 10-15 min walk from the centre of town. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable however the décor was a little outdated. Staff were very friendly and spoke good English. Breakfast was very good – large variety of cold and hot foods including cereal, toast, fruit, Pho, noodles, eggs, bacon, etc. Good hotel but not right in the city centre (10 min walk).
Was once a grand hotel, in need of some serious TLC, Room floor did not match the room or hotel character. Hall way carpets in serious need of replacement, cleaning equipment left in hall ways, stuffed tucked in corners. Breakfast in need of a revamp in presentation, chairs in need of the very least being seriously cleaned or replaced. Staff good but in need of some training, front of house very good. Cleaning foyer in morning peak with mop, polisher electric cords not good, also no hazard signs to alert people. The hotel has heaps of character and could be very special.
While this hotel might be well situated that's all that is going for it. We stayed here 2 nights and it was not very good at all. I'm all for historical buildings but sleeping quarters need to be updated. The beds were like sleeping on a base without a mattress on top. The surroundings carpet cupboards etc very dated. And the bathroom very small and old the bath was quite high with the shower in the bath I nearly slipped twice getting out of the bath/shower. Breakfast was okish. There are plenty more hotels around to stay in till this one lifts its game. There were also ashtrays in the rooms. There were grubby hand marks all over the manhole in the bathroom. So Overall an unpleasant stay.
