This is a 3 star property at Ha Long Bay. Rooms are mid size for 3 pax and location is fine nearby small eateries serving Vietnamese food. WiFi was not working well ( going off and coming on often)when we visited in November 2019. Breakfast is served in the neibouring building on top floor and very crowded in peak hours hence difficult to get a table immediately as you arrive unless you visit very early morning as it opens.A bit far from Ha Long Bay cruise point.

Nice hotel and walkable area to see what there is to see of the town ... not much in the town except as a waystation for the boats really. But, you can see the local shops and everyday life. Hotel itself is comfortable and clean. Quiet when I was there but heard it is usually much busier ... COVID 19 concerns were begining worldwide at this time and the primary tourists (Chinese) were absent.

We stayed here for 1 night 2 days. Hotel is actually in 2 buildings where we stayed in one and the breakfast was in the other building. The rooms were comfortable with all necessary amenities. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean and wifi was ok. The breakfast room had a good view of the bay and breakfast was sumptuous. Overall decent stay.

Really a very good hotel. rooms are spacious and well decorated. Bathroom too is spacious rooms ambience is good and a quiet place. Staff is friendly, but lacks knowledge of english, which can be quite irritating to get your idea across. I requested for a spare towel and i received a shaving razor !!

visited Halong Bay. on a full moon. very beautiful hot day from Hanoi city tour. long journey. about 4hours drive. by the time arrived Halong. night fall. saw the round moon on the sky. beautiful. best time to watch is 8.45pm. enroute with dnr & stop at pearl shop & bamboo products shop. A good night sleep. luxury room . working late till 1am. wifi available in the room. thanks. A group of 36persons. New Star Hotel is very comfortable. all members agreed. "old" building. we are informed to go to next building-"new wing" for buffet breakfast on the top floor. a good view to look out to the bay area. many varieties to choose from. of course Pho with chicken . show of pictures. why the New Star hotel kept all our passports overnight. i think it is the practise or requirement by the law. Thanks to New Star Hotel. wonderful Halong Bay cruise.

Hotel room is huge but not new. Aircon of the room I stayed doesn't work and the front desk arrange technician to check at midnight which is quite helpful. Buffet breakfast is acceptable but not fantastic. There is two building of the hotel, if you stay at another wing have to go to another building for breakfast. There is a convenient shop nearby but stuffs are expensive and mostly for tourists.

There are actually two buildings to this hotel, stay in the new one on the left as you are facing them as the other rooms are a little dated. Absolutely nothing to complain about regarding the room, especially at that price. Great A/C, comfortable bed, loads of TV channels. The one annoyance was the automatic bathroom light which would come one every time it detected the smallest movement inside the bedroom. All the notices about how you would have to pay if the bed sheets got soiled by, among other things, blood were also a little disturbing but then they do seem to cater a lot to large Chinese groups. Breakfast was not good at all and staff were too busy looking after themselves to have time to actually replenish the food. As others mentioned, English is not spoken much and the service was generally not at the same levels as the rooms.

There are 2 blocks of building, I Stay at new wing for two nights. I don't know why they didnt on their air-con at lobby for both day or maybe they just out of service. Thanks god air con in guest room is well condition. Love their room which is big enough, nice view, comfortable bed, good air-con. But the bathroom design not suitable for those travel with colleague or common friend. Breakfast was less variety and with slow replenish.
