We have stayed at this hotel for years. It is like our second home. We spent Xmas 2019 here. The hotel now has a new wing which makes it the best in Dalat, by far, in addition to its superb location and garden.
Restaurant Le Rabelais has a new young chef who, together with the magnificent dining room, make it worthwhile for a fine dining experience. Discuss the menu and your desire with him. We were very pleased with letting him select our meal for us at this last Xmas. For us, the hotel and restaurant are our family favorite place in Dalat.

We planned to stay 2 nights and ended up staying four in this historic hotel. It is extremely old-fashioned, which might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the spectacular view over the lake from our room, as well as the impeccable service from every staff member we encountered, have made this one of our firm Vietnam favourites.

The buffet breakfast was very good - the noodle broth in particular was excellent - and the hotel is very conveniently located close to the Night Market, the Cathedral, the Crazy House and many great street food options.

The only reason I'm not giving the hotel 5 stars is the plumbing. Our water was never properly hot, and as it wasn't possible to pull the shower curtain right around the claw foot bath because of the shower rod, the floor flooded when we tried to shower. However, this did nothing to dampen our enthusiasm for this lovely hotel and we would happily book again if we are lucky enough to be able to pay another visit to Dalat.

This hotel had been recommended in several blogs that I researched so we booked it through Luxury Escapes. My thoughts about it are mixed. On the plus side it is an outstanding example of the heritage of this beautiful city and despite an extensive renovation in the 1990s remains true to its origins. It has exquisite decor throughout and show stopping gardens which sweep down to the lake.
But on the minus side a lack of English is a problem . I am not elitist about this but in certain situations it is important , especially in a hotel of this calibre which purports to cater to English speaking guests. Maintenance seems to be a bit of an issue , with doors not opening and closing properly . Some of the bathroom fittings though charming are not up to standard - for example the grab rail for the bath fell apart when I touched it which could have resulted in serious injury . We reported it to the staff not as a complaint but in the interest of health and safety. They were very apologetic and offered us an upgrade but I wonder if they really understood the potential risks. The restaurant standard is not of the quality I was expecting especially as it is very expensive . On a couple of occasions we did not get what we had ordered - again I think as a result of a lack of understanding by the wait staff.
And importantly for older people there are no guest elevators . We were offered the service elevator which we used a few times .
On balance I would recommend staying for a couple of nights to soak up the ambience and the luxury. Don’t expect great food though .

I stayed at the Dalat Palace Hotel with my wife and two young children during Jan 2021. To be concise, it was the worst stay we have had in a “five star” hotel in asia, and the worst hotel we have stayed in in Vietnam. I would not recommend this hotel.

I’m basing this review on the fact that it is one of if not the most expensive hotel in Dalat, and would expect a higher level of service, facilities, and rooms. We stayed 2 nights prior at the Ana Villas which I highly recommend.

Breakfast: surprised by all the positive reviews on TA. Breakfast was mediocre at best, lacking quality ingredients or special variety. For example there was no coffee or tea available except ready brewed pots.

Rooms: as some of the negative reviews have mentioned, the rooms are past their prime. The mattresses are old, worn, and torn. The roll in mattress for our child was sinking in the middle. The room is dimly lit and the balcony doors wouldn’t open properly and were kept open with folded cardboard. We traveled during the coldest time of the year (-14c in the evening) and there was not proper heater to keep the room warm with cold air gushing in all evening.

Service: The front desk manager, front desk staff, and bellman were incapable of properly handling a simple situation and communication. We checked out at 9:15AM asking for a car to the airport. By 10:00AM, no taxis had arrived and not even once did staff come out to us proactively to update us on the situation. There were 5-6 staff standing in the lobby but no one trying to wave down a taxi.

Gym: not usable due to no one cleaning it up or maintaining it. And allowing children inside. See photo.

Pros: beautiful grounds and gardens. Great location.

Suggestion to Management: invest in property training and hardware. You won’t be able to live off the heritage and nostalgic reputation alone.

Charming and quaint and a different hotel to the usual chain hotels but we really loved the character and history within this gorgeous hotel . The service is excellent and breakfast was an elegant and charming experience with much variety to suit all different tastes.
It feels like stepping back in time into a grand time of class and glamour of days gone by, staying here is a lovely experience in itself and like most charming and historical places you need to be prepared for a few things such as shower over the bath and water splashing into floor and some noise from the street and corridors but it’s worth it to experience the charm of staying here! We really loved the little personal touch in this hotel such as an evening sweet hand delivered to your room with a note and the welcome go plates also a lovely touch
We loved our time here, there is a shopping centre/supermarket only a 5-10 min walk by the lake . I see some negative reviews on here but wanted to give a positive review as we really enjoyed our stay in this charming hotel where you literally step back in time !

The grand lobby entrance matches the imposing structure from the 1930’s.
The staff were very attentive when we checked in yesterday.
Our room on the first floor was terrible! Small and poky and awful bathroom. No good!
I went to the reception and voiced my complaint to the front of house manager, a lovely, accommodating young lady.
She was very apologetic and asked us to have a look at another room on the same floor.
AMAZING! Probably 4 times the size of our first room. Really grand and a lovely, large bathroom. Thank you!
We’ve read plenty of bad reviews of this Hotel and judging by our first room I can understand those reviews.
The management, however, turned things around right away and made our stay memorable.
If your not happy, just talk to them!

I have to say, this is one hotel that has gone above and beyond expectations! Dalat Palace Heritage Hotel is a truly mind-blowing and iconic hotel nestled in the charming city of Dalat, Vietnam. This historic property offers a blend of timeless elegance, refined luxury and impeccable service.
The stunning architecture, elegant facades, spacious interiors, detailed and enchanting ambience sets the hotel apart from other accomodations I have been to, not forgetting the breathtaking views of the surrounding natural beauty. The dining options are exquisite.
The high and mighty have been accommodated here which also means it caters to a higher-end clientele. I have no regrets at all for spending my vacation time here. Hope to be back!

Lovely hotel not far from the centre of town. The rooms are large with high ceilings and had a great view over the garden to the lake and the city centre beyond. Staff went out of their way to be of service without being intrusive. The breakfast was very high quality with extensive eastern and western choices.

Our family stayed in this hotel for 3 days in the new extension which was called palace 2. This exteny actually destroys the beautiful scenery of whole palace complex. The interior of the room looks very cheap colorful. It seems all are the fake chinese made. The breakfast is terrible. The food quality is poor and the setting is totally unprofessional. We will not stay there next time. Very expensive but unworthy at all

We first stayed in what was this magnificent hotel in 1997 and were excited to return. We were confronted with a shower that floods the whole room (one of our friends fell over because of the water and cracked her head!) and the water does not drain and the suggestion was to tie the shower curtain to the wall to ease flooding. Additionally we booked a 3 million Dong tour with an English speaking guide who couldn't take us to all of the requested places, and incidentally does not speak English.
