A rare hidden architectural gem consisting of 4 distinct northern style wooden lodge in the midst of local structures and flanked by Wat Saen Fang. Skillfully crafted and designed with attention to minute details by Prof. Ajarn Jullatat Kittibutr; a highly revered and an award-winning Thailand National Artist pertaining to contemporary architectural design in 2004 and also ASA award (Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage) who emphasizes the significance of harmonizing local culture and way of life with architecture, infusing the very unique and distinct elements and traits of northerners such as humility, warmth, friendliness and nature into the final masterpiece of architectural restoration known as Baan Saenfang which will serve as a monument of local pride for future Lanna generations.

Detailed Reviews
We consider this small but exceptionally well appointed boutique hotel a great find. It is perfectly located just off Thapae Road between Thapae Gate and Nawarat Bridge, with the 'borrowed view' of Wat Saen Fang. The rooms are individual Lanna Style cottages; ours had three outdoor sitting areas. Breakfast is served to order on your vanada or at the bar near the pool. The rooms are large and bathrooms are modern, but in keeping with the lanna wood style. The staff was exceptionally helpful and pleasant. An added bonus next door is the Viang Ping traditional Thai massage shop, that we enjoyed immensely on several occasions. We will definitely repeat this hotel when we return to Chiang Mai.

Really enjoyed my stay. Staff couldn't do enough to help. Breakfast was home made with care every morning and brought to the room at the time asked for. Pool was fantastic, I spent plenty a day in the sun in the pool with no one else around. Couldn't fault at all and sure I'll be back.

Staying in one of the villas was the best accommodation I’ve had in Thailand. The room was spacious and beautiful, very stylish. The pool is a delight. It’s small, it’s quiet, the staff are delightful, not everything was perfect (had some wifi trouble) but they were immediately on top of fixing it. Great location. Highly recommend!

This is a gorgeous, quiet and lovely place to stay that's walking distance to tons of stuff in Chiang Mai. The rooms are so spacious and the pool is a little slice of heaven. Don't think we saw a single other guest our whole time there. Just a beautiful property all around.

Only 4 villas and 6 rooms in the entire hotel with a gorgeous view of the Wat Saen Fang. Villas were completely refurbished from original lanna style houses with a common compound in the middle. Lush greenery and outdoor pool just add to the whole serene atmosphere.

This is a very interesting boutique Hotel. The rooms are designed as freestanding traditional Thai cottages with lots of wood, lots of windows and a good layout, The room was spacious, a lounge, a chair a big coffee table, large front and back decks with seating and a day lounge. Moderate sized pool opposite the room. I could only count 4 cottages. our room was quiet and featured two comfortable king singles pushed together. The location is great, a stroll to markets and the old city, with good nearby eateries frequented by expats. It deserves a 5 rating however, because the cottages are single glazed and poorly insulated the airconditioning does not cope. The day we arrived it was roasting hot inside, we turned on the aircon to full and the ceiling fan to full and the temperature barely changed for the rest of the day, only when the sun dropped did the internal temperature drop. Each day the temperature rose internally as the sun went up despite the valiant efforts of the air conditioner. It was still cooler in the room compared to outside, but it should have been a lot cooler. At least when the sun went down the airconditioning managed to make the room comfortable enough for a good sleep

One of my best stay...Awesome set up within a small area and within city limit, Peaceful, Tranquil, Walk able to the Chiang Mai Sunday night Market, great staff (Mr. Benz). There is message center next to the hotel having awesome service. Very good Thai food restaurants close by. Nice pool and good breakfast served. Must book room no 103, the best room with best view to the pool...l with a separate courtyard. Value for money...

It wasn't a good experience by staying Baan Saen Fang. We specially requested (long before Check in) villa 101 for having an area for breakfast, because we didn't want to have breakfast at the dark corridor. They confirmed okay by email, but 3 days prior our check in, I was informed that my reservation of 101 to be changed to 105 without a reason!!
I asked for a reason when I checked in, the staff was polite but have no explanation, just said "it was complicated", and that's!!! No apology no nothing!
So, we were set by in villa 105, breakfast were in a dark corridor with mosquito!
Service was not professional, airport pick up was not on time. Poor communication! Not helpful not friendly. Security guy was impolite when we parked the car at the entrance at night, he didn't recognize us and was very rude to us.
Room interior and setting was nice though, room size was big, but it was not clean. Water was stuck when shower.
Location was good, 8-10 mins walk to the old town.
Not recommended.

Don't hesitate booking at this peaceful hotel, you will not get disappointed.
Rooms are big and beautifully furnished.
I loved The thai style of them. Pool is amala but really lovely.
Very helpful staff.
If i could Just make a little suggestion I would say that they should increase a little the breakfast quality: fresh Juice instead of processed, nicer granola, and maybe provide some Services in terms of trips.
Anyway a great place to stay in Chiang Mai, definitely go for it!!!!!

This is beautiful little compound in the city center. It’s quiet, just comprising of just 4 well appointed bungalows. The service is good and the pool always great for a dip. Overall highly recommended.
