A rare hidden architectural gem consisting of 4 distinct northern style wooden lodge in the midst of local structures and flanked by Wat Saen Fang. Skillfully crafted and designed with attention to minute details by Prof. Ajarn Jullatat Kittibutr; a highly revered and an award-winning Thailand National Artist pertaining to contemporary architectural design in 2004 and also ASA award (Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage) who emphasizes the significance of harmonizing local culture and way of life with architecture, infusing the very unique and distinct elements and traits of northerners such as humility, warmth, friendliness and nature into the final masterpiece of architectural restoration known as Baan Saenfang which will serve as a monument of local pride for future Lanna generations.

This is beautiful little compound in the city center. It’s quiet, just comprising of just 4 well appointed bungalows. The service is good and the pool always great for a dip. Overall highly recommended.

We consider this small but exceptionally well appointed boutique hotel a great find. It is perfectly located just off Thapae Road between Thapae Gate and Nawarat Bridge, with the 'borrowed view' of Wat Saen Fang. The rooms are individual Lanna Style cottages; ours had three outdoor sitting areas. Breakfast is served to order on your vanada or at the bar near the pool. The rooms are large and bathrooms are modern, but in keeping with the lanna wood style. The staff was exceptionally helpful and pleasant. An added bonus next door is the Viang Ping traditional Thai massage shop, that we enjoyed immensely on several occasions. We will definitely repeat this hotel when we return to Chiang Mai.

Staying in one of the villas was the best accommodation I’ve had in Thailand. The room was spacious and beautiful, very stylish. The pool is a delight. It’s small, it’s quiet, the staff are delightful, not everything was perfect (had some wifi trouble) but they were immediately on top of fixing it. Great location. Highly recommend!

Our stay was wonderful. Location was great, easy to get around town, walkable to many restaurants and shops. An amazingly tranquil spot in a vibrant city. Our villa was very spacious and clean. The grounds were very well kept and the pool was a very welcome refreshing afternoon break on the hot days after walking the city. Staff was very courteous and helpful.

This hotel was a truly disapointment. After backpacking around Thailand for 3 weeks, me and my boyfriend stayed in Baan Saen Fang in order to rest better. We used to pay around 10 euros/night during our trip, and we oppened a exception because we were tired and we wanted something better. Well, I wished we had stayed in another place. 1. In the first day our toilet plugged (we didn't put any papper inside) 2. The breakfast took around 40-50 min to arrive (they told us 15 min when we arrived) 3. In the second night we had a lizard in our bed!!!! We asked the reception to come but they couldn't find it so they changed us to another room just for that night. 4. The chairs in the pool are only around 8 and they didn't catch any sun in the afternoon Those are too much negative points in a place where we paid around 70 euros/night. We stayed in so much better places for less than half this price!!! It was a big disapointment.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Baan Saen Fang. We are disappointed that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. I've gone through all aspects of the issues and will address them as follows: 1. Our housekeeper and engineer has already inspected the issue and found that the toilet is still working perfectly. 2. We will improve upon the serving time of breakfast. 3. Our staff inspected the room several times and still could not find the lizard hence we upgraded your room. 4. Due to the limited space around the pool area and the small number of rooms (6 total rooms) that we have, we can only fit 8 sun loungers by the pool.

We had a wonderful stay in the hotel. Everything was perfect, the bungalows are good, they have everything you need. Wi-Fi works well, and the location is perfect to explore Chiang Mai. My favorite thing was the pool. That pool is heaven.

This is a very interesting boutique Hotel. The rooms are designed as freestanding traditional Thai cottages with lots of wood, lots of windows and a good layout, The room was spacious, a lounge, a chair a big coffee table, large front and back decks with seating and a day lounge. Moderate sized pool opposite the room. I could only count 4 cottages. our room was quiet and featured two comfortable king singles pushed together. The location is great, a stroll to markets and the old city, with good nearby eateries frequented by expats. It deserves a 5 rating however, because the cottages are single glazed and poorly insulated the airconditioning does not cope. The day we arrived it was roasting hot inside, we turned on the aircon to full and the ceiling fan to full and the temperature barely changed for the rest of the day, only when the sun dropped did the internal temperature drop. Each day the temperature rose internally as the sun went up despite the valiant efforts of the air conditioner. It was still cooler in the room compared to outside, but it should have been a lot cooler. At least when the sun went down the airconditioning managed to make the room comfortable enough for a good sleep
