Travelers' Choice
The Bodhi Serene is located within the old city walls of down town Chiang Mai surrounded by many ancient temples and is a mere 20 minutes from the airport, train station as well as the bus terminal. It is also visually and architecturally stunning with exotic Lanna style influenced by Chinese designs. There are only 38 rooms to offer most of which overlooks our central courtyard area with a tropical garden and waterfall.

Most people drive or walk passed without realising there is an oasis behind the large imposing front wall. Two pools, tranquil garden, new modern annex. It has the old style feel to it while being contemporary. Large rooms and bathrooms, balconies overlooking the garden. All the room and bathroom amenities you need as a traveller. Restaurant by the pool serves excellent Thai food.

Check-in was easy and fast. Staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Hotel was about 15 minutes from the airport. Room was spacious, clean and has all the basic needs like coffee & tea maker, hairdryer, safe box, fridge, tv, slipper & bathrobe. It also provides body & face towel. Iron & iron board is based on request. Bathroom comes with shower and round bathtub. Air-cond works well. The only thing I don’t like about the room is it’s bed and pillow. The bed is a little hard, whilst the pillow was not comfortable. I had neck pain the following day. The breakfast was good. It has quite a good selection of food. There are also some local dish. The hotel has good ambience. In the evening, the staff will burn the mosquito coil. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby. There are no halal restaurants near the hotel. Most of the halal restaurants are located near the night market area. Opposite the hotel is a 7-eleven shop. Just a few steps away is a laundry shop. It’s also not far from the night market. If you are lazy to walk, you can take the tuk-tuk which cost about THB80 after bargain. Otherwise, they will ask for THB100. However, from the night market to the hotel, they usually ask for THB100, and it’s non-negotiable. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful with good ambience hotel, this is the place to be.

Don't be put off from outside, it doesn't look the best but once you walk in it is a lovely hotel. Stayed here 3 nights, lovely spacious room. Good breakfast, good location within the walled city. Great shuttle to the night markets. Only negative was shower area could do with touching up.

We had a very nice stay at the Bodhi Serene Hotel. It really is serene. It is an oasis of quiet just off the street. The rooms are nice and the breakfast was very good. It was pleasant sitting on the patio enjoying the garden. The pool is nice too. The best part is the location. It's inside the old walled city area close to everything. They also had a shuttle that goes to one of the night markets. While not quite a five star hotel, it is a great place to stay. I recommend it.

We have stayed at the Bodhi Serene for three previous visits to Chiang Mai, so we saw no reason to change that this time. Nine nights this time, in a one bedroom suite, it was the last room available (I’d forgotten about the high season and Chinese New Year), but the room was excellent, a very relaxing, truly serene place. Great location, the tour desk was good and we did a couple of things with Khun Tuk. Enjoyable breakfasts and good airport pickup/drop off. We will be back!
