#70 of 656 hotels in Chiang Mai
Travelers' Choice
The Bodhi Serene is located within the old city walls of down town Chiang Mai surrounded by many ancient temples and is a mere 20 minutes from the airport, train station as well as the bus terminal. It is also visually and architecturally stunning with exotic Lanna style influenced by Chinese designs. There are only 38 rooms to offer most of which overlooks our central courtyard area with a tropical garden and waterfall.

Many years ago my wife and I travelled up to CM from our home in Bangkok and we were delighted to find this boutique hotel hidden away in the old town. Fast forward to Christmas 2020, Covid, 2 kids and a little chilly but still a lovely place from which to plan your daily forays into the North. A few little adjustments because of the plague but still a fantastic little place with lovely staff and a great atmosphere.

Had a wonderful stay at this truly boutique resort in the heart of the Old City at Chiang Mai.... it’s within walking distance to nearly every where.... the team members are helpful, very attentive and friendly. The room is clean, spacious and good size balcony you can just sit back and relax, enjoying the serenity. Nice lounge area next to the pool which you can read or enjoy a cup of coffee doing nothing..... definitely will be back, thanks to every team member.

This hotel is definitely suffering from the lack of tourists and unfortunately the guests also suffer. No restaurant facilities other than breakfast which is a sad affair. Also limited TV channels. We stayed here 11 years ago when it was a proper boutique hotel. Sadly they have expanded and it no longer has that special feeling. Came back for one night and asked for a "garden" room. Although I was given one it was 117 with no view whatsoever. As there were very few guests I think they could have done better in terms of client satisfaction. Also annoying fridge did not work and no plug for lovely bath tub. Will no stay here again.

I stayed 3 nights at Bodhi Serene which ks ideally located if you look for an hotel in the old city of Chiang Mai. Nearby the hotel you can find a 7/11, motobike rental shops, restaurants and bars. I liked the style of the hotel, the friendliness of the staff and the 2 swimming pool. Because of covid-19 the hotel cannot provide buffet breakfast but only à la carte breakfast so the choice is really limited and the quality not very good. The hotel offers bicycle which is a very nice way to discover the city.
