The Bodhi Serene is located within the old city walls of down town Chiang Mai surrounded by many ancient temples and is a mere 20 minutes from the airport, train station as well as the bus terminal. It is also visually and architecturally stunning with exotic Lanna style influenced by Chinese designs. There are only 38 rooms to offer most of which overlooks our central courtyard area with a tropical garden and waterfall.

Very nice hotel. Rooms are well appointed and have everything you need without being over the top. Location is excellent. Far enough away from the backpacker area but everything was still within walking distance. The staff were helpful if anything was needed.

We booked a single night at Bodhi Serne in Chaing Mai after I got a recommendation for it from a friend. As with many of our other Thai bookings, I was a bit nervous since I didn't know a lot about the area. The hotel is amazing. On the smaller side (as most are in the old part of chaing mai), which was good. Good sized rooms, great location, good breakfast buffet, and great staff. Overall I highly recommend this place for anyone considering a visit to Chaing Mai!

Affordable hotel inside Old City. Plenty of massage spas and restaurants around. Great breakfast and amenities. Very quiet environment. Staff should work on, though, with the small flying insects in the breakfast area and some mosquitoes in the lobby.

Fantastic hotel, has 2 pools, a bar, plenty of space to relax. The rooms are decent size, shower was great too. Room service and cleaners were also fantastic. Only improvement could be the choice at breakfast. All in all this hotel is perfect if your staying in Chiang Mai, it near some of the best places to eat and the main temples. Highly recommend

Location wise : OK location. But old Town is relatively small so basically any hotel could be in a good location. Sadly alot of the surrounding shops at this hotel have closed including 711. There were livelier areas in old Town. Staff: most of the staff were friendly and helpful. But hardly any other than the reception could understand English. Not sure what the norm is in chiang mai as this was my first trip there. Accommodation and facilities: We stayed in a family triple room which honestly looked better in the pictures than in reality. When we arrived the room was made up... But it was dirty. There were dead cockaroaches on the bathroom floor in corners. Spiderwebs on the wall lamps next to bed and the room was full of mosquitoes. I understand outside, but surely only one or two inside. We ended up getting our own bug room gas at the mall and treating the room and bedding ourselves. The room and bathroom was dated and needed maintenance. The bathroom tiles and grout especially needs cleaning. The pool was great and clean and towels were replenished often which was nice. The breakfast was average. They offered coffee, juice, egg, sausage, some fruits and some breads/pastry. Not a massive spread but can understand that there were not many guests. It was an average stay at best, but they charge 4 star rates. I think if you can book this place in a really good discount offer then try it. But personally if we return to Chiang Mai we will try something new.

What a hidden gem! I am a frequent traveler to Chiang Mai and this was my first visit to the Bodhi Serene. Generally we stay near the Night Bizarre but thought we try a different location and the Bodhi Serene did not disappoint. We stayed for 14 days with a group of family and friends. We had a standard, deluxe and 1 bedroom rooms throughout the group. Each room were spacious and comfortable and were positioned around the hotel gardens and moat. This made the hotel, gave it real personality. The hotel is located within the old city, a stones throw from the Sunday Walking Street Market. There are some amazing local restaurants close by, Dash (our favourite) La Fontana (Italian) and Kat’s Kitchen. The hotel is also surrounded by small bars, convenient stores, street food, markets, massage parlours etc. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend the breakfast, while there’s not a huge selection like a massive hotel restaurant, it had everything from eggs, pastries, fruits, cereals, local Thai foods etc. There are 2 pools and several lounge areas. The main pool is amazing and we were there daily! If you have small children, you might need to check with the hotel as the main pool is quite deep. There are few minor considerations for the hotel: - Add ceiling fans in the The air conditioner in the rooms are quite powerful and at times you just wanted air flow. While each room have doors to open, the water around the moat meant it attracts a lot of mosquitoes. - Ceiling fans in the breakfast area. This area is located outside and Chiang Mai can is hot and humid, especially in the mornings. So ceiling fans would help circulate the air flow. - There were more staff maintaining the breakfast station mid week when there weren’t as many guests, but the weekends were busier and there were only 1 person, who was struggling to keep up. - Everyday we had to ask reception to maintain the towels at the pool. Overall, we very happy with the Bodhi Serene. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our stay at this nice and extremely comfortable hotel. We booked the two bedroom unit and it worked perfect for our family. Clean, comfortable beds, air conditioning and plenty of space. Along with being comfortable, the service was warm and attentive. The front desk was always helpful (great recommendations on where to eat) and the breakfast staff even made us a special dish on our last day. Our friends recommended this hotel and we would also recommend it.

Firstly this hotel is picturesque, has lovely grounds and open spaces and in a great location. Lots of bars, restaurants and shops nearby for anything you need. Also so well located for walking distance to things. Good size rooms, clean and have traditional thai vibes which was nice - my only gripe was the shower pressure was dreadful in our room (we had 4 rooms for our group two had fantastic pressure (211 & 212) closer to the main hotel space and two had rubbish pressure (216 & 217) further away from the main hotel space so assuming its a distance thing?). Lots of mosquitos though from the water garden but hotel staff would spray the room for you! Staff were fantastic and really helpful throughout the stay. Breakfast was pretty basic… no western cooked breakfast options but had a buffet ‘help youraelf’ style eggs, toast, fruit, precooked waffles, cereal and juice. So it was decent enough. Pool was honestly fantastic, two pools the main one that has sun all day and a small plunge style that gets sun for half of the day. The pool furniture was tired and only has 7/8 loungers which isn’t enough, you might get a wooden chair if you are also lucky. More loungers could fit around the pool, after all its big enough and thats what people want to relax on. The biggest and only real let down was the lack of restaurant - no food options after breakfast, whilst evening times you can of course eat out, it would have been nice to have a pool bar for lunch snacks/ drinks. It does have a lovely pool bar area it just seemed closed - maybe this is due to covid? But the hotel was pretty busy! Would I stay there again? Absolutely.

I stayed 5 nights in this hotel. This is located in the old city so almost everything (including restaurants/cafés) you want to visit are within walking distance. The room was very spacious, had a spacious balcony (also had a small laundry drying rack) and AC unit was noiseless and functional. Room had a very comfortable bed, reasonable size desk and small dedicated area for making tea/coffee. Bathroom had a spacious shower area and a large round bathtub. Hot water system was perfect. Some days I had breakfast (was not included in the room price) at the hotel but nothing special about it to mention. The view from the balcony of the room overlooking the garden and water features were very nice. You may need mosquito repellants if you want to sit outside on the balcony in the evening/night. Pool was great and towels were provided. My first day experience was somewhat disappointing. When I entered the room, it was full of mosquitos and I had to ask the reception clean the room properly which they did promptly. The day I checked in, I found that the reception staff couldn't give me the impression of Thai friendliness and helpfulness. But this changed completely when I had to get my pre-departure Covid PCR test done (compulsory to enter some countries). Upon my request hotel organised this and the Lab (mobile unit) came to the hotel and did the test. Although the results certificate was supposed to come on the same day/next day morning, it never came and time was running out. At this point, the reception staff did everything to get my test results certificate. They called the lab/hospital (I suppose) multiple times (almost every 10-15 minutes) just like it is something personal for them. Ultimately the lab delivered (personally) the certificate (luckily the test was negative!!) and I was able to go to the airport in time. This is all about a great customer service. Again a big thank to the reception staff.
