This was my first-time to Chiang Mai, and I spent a lot of time researching areas and hotels in Chiang Mai prior to selecting Thapae Loft Hotel. Staff is very attentive, positive, and always greets me with a smile. The hotel's restaurant is across the street and offers a wide

do the tours to the elephant sanctuary and golden triangle area still happen if it is raining?
Depends how hard the rain is I guess. I did a visit to a Elephant Sanctuary on an overcast day- with very slight rain. It was ace! The elephants actually interacted more as they were awake and more alive. Please be careful with your elephant sanctuary- avoid all that allow people to ‘ride’ elephants and use ‘hooks’ to control elephants.

Elephant Reserve is good, but be aware its a bit of a rough ride through a bit of the 'jungle'/forest, but a beautiful experience. Don't do elephant riding though because elephant spines are not intended to have weight on it many times a day, and these animals are tortured from a young age in order to be trained. As for the golden triangle, it is a great trip and many companies offer this trip. Check here. I booked through this company many times before No issues: sightseeingchiangmai. com

are you located inside the walled old city area?
Yes. A block or so south from the Sunday walking market. It really is a great location :)

Everything is within walking distance from the hotel. And any activities outside of the city can be easily booked and coordinated through the hotel.
