Incredible authentic Jungle setting luxurious hotel
A must book! Viang Thapae we absolutely loved you. 10 - 15 minute from airport in cab. Beautiful jungle setting, peaceful and clean stunning room felt authentically Thai. Fabulous location to all major attractions in Chiang mai Quality Breakfast small choice but quality of food great! Great pools and staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Walking distance to most places including night market or 100bht - 150bht if you fancy a tuk tuk hotel can arrange! So clean and beautifully comfortable. We stayed with a 10 year old who was abit noisy definitely would go back with friends or as a couple perfect hotel and made our visit to Chiang Mai. Temple end of the road also! Small launderette round the corner Thank you viang Thapae you are incredible

    Lovely stay
A lovely oasis just mins walk from the Thapae Gate entrance to the old city and the night bazaar. It was clean and quiet which provided a comfortable place to recharge after being out in the heat and the busy city all day. The staff were kind and always smiling but not the most helpful with recommendations (I think more due to language barrier- they did speak some English just not extensive) Only con - reported to have fitness center but not functional. There were 3 cardio machines that didn’t work and a single dumbbell and no mats. The day after I brought this to their attention a treadmill showed up but I was unable to guarantee it worked.

    friendly and conveniently located
A really nice hotel that at first appears out of the way, but once you get your bearings the city is easily within walking distance and the "out of the way" position adds to the seclusion of the hotel. The hotel staff are welcoming and helpful and the room is clean and fresh with good air conditioning. Breakfast is good but there is little other food during the day. There is, however, lots of choice locally and in the city. We actually travelled in Feb but because of Covid 19 this is the first chance I have had to post this recommendation.

Loved this place! The rooms were very comfortable, the staff very friendly, and the location was great. We stayed here before and after our visit to Elephant Nature Park (GO THERE!) and were allowed to safely leave bags while we were gone even though we checked out before leaving and back in upon returning. We will absolutely stay here again.

We booked 2 pool access rooms (2 couples). Arrived really early thinking we’d have to dump our bags and wait for check in time. Lady on the front desk was very welcoming and friendly. As it was quiet we were able to get in to our rooms immediately. Absolutely beautiful, authentic and really clean. Bathrooms are a decent size. Everyone on site very polite and friendly. Nothing not to like about this place and we’ll be coming back to stay in June. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay. ❤️

It's taken me a while to write this review as we stayed on Jan 2019. Chaing Mai was the hilight of my thailand tour and i wish i had stayed longer here. Its super easy to get to from the airport and as other say you think your 'outside' the city but you are very close - 5/10 mins max so you have the best of both worlds. This hotel really is pretty - that's the best way to describe it, everything is lovely. The room was very large, with a comfy bed. The shower and bathroom were very clean. Only thing i didn't like was the door to your room is on a walkway so you had to keep the curtains closed. Pools look lovely and as someone said they don't really get the sun, the 2nd pool has a terrace for sunbathing which in the early morning was nice. Pool towels are provided. Breakfast was simple but tasty. Reception where helpful in booking our table at a resturant and arranging our transfer to the airport. Location: 0nly 10mins either way to everything - we got lost a little going to the night market because we went on the back streets at night but got there safe and sound. Food there was amazing and a great price! In chaing Mai - we did elephant santuray that was the best day ever.. we also been the temple of the hill which i feel we overpaid the little red bus to get to, and finally thai cooking school - one of the best activities and great value - £15 for 6 course, you all got your own wok and made your own dish so you weren't force to cook something you didn't want and more importantly you could balance the spice to your personally type. There is still soooo much more to see and i would definatly return to this hotel and city

The resort is a relaxing space with a beautiful garden, hidden from the road. TOP TIP: book a Deluxe room as it is FAR better than the standard one + has seprate terrace facing a swimming room which is a separate pool from the one destined for standard room users! + Deluxe room is a delight, quiet, has a sunny pool next to it and the bedding is great Staff is friendly Location is vv good:10 min walk to old city - Standard room feels "tired", bedding is old Can be very noisy if there are guest kids somewhere close All of the rooms are very xlose to swimming pool and the drops are dropping ALL thr time, can be nerve-wrecking if you do't close the room door ; ) I would recommend the hotel, best I have seen in Chiang Mai BUT! book a deluxe room - so much better, as I stayed in both room types.

Was here 2 years ago and came back with the wife this time. Quality furnishings and solid hotel. Very quirky and has a lot of charm. In a great location and also a quiet lane. Very nice. Breakfast is reasonable but the kitchen staff are rude and don't help at all.

Just completed yet another visit to Chiang Mai staying again at Viang Thapae Resort. As usual resort in great condition and staff friendly and helpful. Having stayed a few times we feel special here which is great with staff welcoming and ready to help. Breakfast is quite nice changing daily. Pools are beautiful and gardens a pleasure just to sit and enjoy. Centrally located this location is highly recommended

Great location, nice decor. Unfortunately, the beds were rock-hard. The booking was supposed to be for a balcony room, the 'balcony' was the front passageway overlooking the pool. Quite a nice setting. Nothing remarkable about the breakfasts.
