When we got to Viraporns Place we were told that expedia (the online booking sevice we booked through) had over booked the rooms and they only had a fan room available and we would not be given a refund despite the fact we had booked a superior doubke room. We checked out the room which was filthy (see pictures) and I made a complaint. When taken to see a second room this was also very dirty - the lady at the front desk said they didn't have time to clean between bookings and she would clean the room the next day and give us free breakfast. We were clearly very disgruntled and the lady was kind and seemed to be trying to make us feel better. The next day we were moved to the room we had paid for (even though the guesthouse was apparently fully booked for the next three days). The room was clean but very shabby and not worth the hugh amount of money we paid for it. In the end our stay was average had it not been for the first night and the that first dirty room - it's worth mentioning that the owner ignored us as we complained and let his wife sort everything out which further added to our upset. We did complain to expedia as well and have since realised they have a bad reputation so possibly it was their mistake.…
If you are traveling on a budget with an odd number of friends and want the privacy not offered by a hostel, then this is the place to be! The owner Viraporn was very friendly and accommodating during our Songkran stay. We booked a double room with a fan on the 2nd floor and a triple on the 3rd floor with AC. The fan room had better wifi, but the AC room had a fridge. I slept in both rooms and preferred the upstairs AC room. It was very difficult to book tours during Songkran because a lot of businesses are closed for the holiday, but Viraporn hooked us up with drivers who took us to Chiang Rai and our friend to the airport. Not to mention, when traffic made traveling by songthao impossible, she rented us bikes so we could visit our friends staying in the Nimmen area.
Got a good clean room for 4 nights for the time of Songkran. This place is awesomely located with many foods on the street along with a fresh market. Rooms vary from what they have for example ours was A/C'd with a fridge while my friend's only had a fan. The owner is very accommodating and didn't mind adding another bed to our room. I believe all rooms come with a nice balcony too. Would come back here for sure
The rooms were really nice, they bring an extra mattress in the room if you have extra guests staying. Very cheap for travelers on a budget. The guesthouse owner, Viraporn, is very nice and helpful when we wanted to book a trip anywhere and she got us very great prices for our trips. She also answered any questions we had. This place also offers laundry service (clean, dry, iron, and folded) for 40 baht/ kilo. The rooms on the second floor had better wifi than rooms on the third floor. There is a nice sitting place with tables, plants, and water fountain on the ground level. Bathrooms are relatively clean. There are individual balconies for each room for hanging up wet clothes.
I only spent one night here as I cut my trip to chiang mai short in order to escape the unexpected cold weather! However, I was really glad to come across this place because the rooms were very clean and spacious and clearly recently modernized. The american owner was friendly and helpful and I felt very welcome. I would have definitely stayed longer if it had been warmer, but given the lack of heating (it was literally that cold!) I decided to head back to bangkok. Definitely worth a little visit :)
