When this hotel opened it was pretty amazing, over the years it's seen a decline in the facilities. For example, the bathtub faucet had apparently been leaking at some point. Instead of replacing it, the hotel haphazardly put about 2 inches of caulk all over the base that was just a mess. Sure, the water didn't leak anymore, but it looked horrible. This is just one example of shoddy maintenance. Staff was friendly and polite, breakfast buffet was so-so. The one feature this hotel has that others don't is an excellent location right at the busiest part of night bazaar. Price wasn't bad either but if nice facilities on your vacation is more important than location, look elsewhere.
I've stayed here 5 or 6 times over the last 12 or so years, and the below points have always been true in all of those stays: First the Positives: Good location, value for money, spacious and comfortable rooms with 'old style' furniture (the kind that is both stylish and comfortable, unlike what you find in many modern contemporary hotels that are designed for 'design' rather then comfort). Good and large breakfast spread for a hotel in this price range. Parking is very convenient (if you park on level L1 you can walk straight from the parking garage into the hotel lobby). The Big Negative: Over 80 % of all rooms in the hotel are connecting rooms with practically no soundproofing from the connecting room. If someone in the connecting room is talking, has the television on or makes any sound you will hear it. The hardwood floors are nice but add to this problem. You can even hear something as quiet as the person in the connecting room zip or unzip their luggage (I speak from experience on that point). Being occupancy is so very low during this pandemic, hotel staff should have enough sense to not put guests in adjacent connecting rooms. But no, it seems they are putting guests on just a few floors (convenient for housekeeping & elevator usage) and into adjacent connecting rooms.…
Exceptional value at present with so few tourists due to COVID-19. However it didn’t stop the hotel from providing 5 star service. Our only complaint was the limited selection for breakfast. Catering more to Western diet rather than Asian.
Stayed in the hotel (for the first time) for a couple of nights, just to see how things were in Chiang Mai. Had a few small issues during the stay however these were soon resolved and overall we enjoyed our stay.
We are Stayed here in 4-5, July 2010 (COVID-19) situation. Location is great which makes traveling around so much easier and faster during the day. Alternatively, taxis to anywhere are extremely affordable. Rooms all have city views and are of good standard. Pools & fitness center are great. Great bar at night - good atmosphere & service.” We have a problem upon check in but Khun Wanchary (Ying) Night Manager and Reception night lady can solve this problem ( me apologize if wrong spelling name) Thank you for your good service.
My favorite hotel in Chiang Mai. Rooms are relatively spacious, breakfast buffet is excellent, and the location is fantastic, just a short walk to the Night Market and a 10 minute walk to the old city. The price is also great and they loved the kids!
This is our 3rd stay here we are loving it more. Breakfast selection was good and staff were excellent in service and smiles. We felt it was better than Bangkok anytime in terms of people courtesy. Duangtawan is conveniently located near night market and massage shops. Plus good eating options too. We will be back for sure.
An average hotel, the room was huge and the view was very nice, but the bathroom was a bit worn. Nice bed og fine breakfast buffet - not fantastic. The place itself is very very huge, so there is a kind of stressful and busy atmosphere. Pool area is big and there is a very nice view from there. Location is perfect, very close to the nightmarket. Be aware that you have to wait a while for the elevators..
Great location right next to the night market but too noisy and a tour bus mentality at the hotel. Food mediocre at best but clean and good service, Probably should have spent a little more on Movenpick next door?
This hotel is very centrally situated. I was on the 21st floor and had a big room with a comfortable bed and good views. Being so high I didn't suffer from noise at night, but I would image the lower floors could be noisy. The pool was a good size, although the sun beds were in short supply. There's a gym area and big lobby area. It made for a good short stop over.
